I have boarded my cats there on several occasions and they have always been well taken care of. The owner is awesome.

We put our house on the market and needed to board our kitty. He is 12 years old and has never been away from home so we were a little nervous. Our experience with cat city was great, however, and we were able to feel comfortable knowing our kitty was in a safe place with his own private condo. The only detail that was a little strange was that when we showed up to drop off the kitty, and again when we came to pick him up, the owner was nowhere to be found. Both times we had to call while standing at the front desk inside the facility to locate the owner. I should note, our kitty is independent, doesn't like to be snuggled unless it's by mom or dad, and has no health issues. If you're looking for a place for a kitty with special needs or an attentive caretaker, I would suggest you look elsewhere. read more

I don't love the idea of dropping a former 5-star review down to 3-stars, but I don't feel as if I have any choice after my last two interactions with Mike at City Cat. Truth be told, I've wavered as to whether this should be a 2-star or 3-star review but if I had written a review after my August interaction, it would have been for 1-star, so I suppose either is an improvement. August We were headed out of town on a Friday morning to Sunday afternoon trip. I had arranged to drop my two cats off around 9:30, so I was more than a bit frustrated when I arrived at City Cat to find the door locked and no sign of Mike. I called his cell phone. Voice mail. Not wanting to simply sit in my car with two distressed cats locked in their cardboard pet carriers, I returned home and tried the number again. Nothing. So I waited. 10:00 10:15 10:30 I was in a panic. The initial drop off time was set so there would be lots of time to be where we needed to be on time. But, by 11:00 we still hadn't heard from Mike and we were in the terrible position of either leaving our cats behind - and having our diabetic cat, L, not received her insulin for 48 hours - or have our entire trip disrupted because we couldn't leave the house on time. We opted for the former, making sure the cats had food, water and clean litter boxes and hoping that going without insulin for two days wouldn't be too detrimental to L's health. About the time we settled into the flow of traffic on I-5 my phone rang and it was Mike, apologizing with some lame excuse about his phone being forwarded to his landline so he wasn't getting his voice mail while he was out of the shop. In a curt tone I told Mike we were already on our way and that because he wasn't at the shop when he said he would be, we were stuck leaving the cats at home. He made a half-hearted apology and the call ended. I was furious and resolved to write a 1-star review and post it here. I never wrote that review and although there are certainly alternatives for other cat boarding businesses in NE Seattle, when the need arose recently to once again board the cats, I decided to give Mike another chance. Maybe the incident in August had just been an anomaly. I called him a few days before Christmas. "Hi Mike, this is David S. I need to make an appointment to bring my cats..." I never got a chance to complete the sentence before he interrupted me. "I don't have any room over Christmas." Uh, who said anything about Christmas? I explained that I actually needed to board the cats starting on New Year's Day. Turns out, Mike had plenty of room. We confirmed dates and hung up. Unfortunately, the exact moment that the line disconnected I realized that I hadn't told Mike about L's diabetes and need for twice daily insulin. I called him back immediately and got his voicemail. "Hi Mike, this is David S. again. We just hung up and I realized that I forgot to mention to you that one of our cats, L, has diabetes and requires twice daily insulin shots. I assume that's not a problem as you've probably had plenty of cats stay with you that required medical care. But if it is a problem, just give me a call back to discuss. If I don't hear from you I'll assume everything is fine." No call back - everything must be fine. At the agreed upon day and time I arrived at City Cat, cats, food, insulin and needles in tow. As I unpacked the cat carriers I picked up L and told Mike that this was the diabetic cat and here is her insulin. He looked at me dumbfounded. "I don't know anything about a diabetic cat." Me: "Umm, well I left you a voicemail about it, immediately after we set up the appointment to bring the cats here." Mike: "Oh, well I don't listen to my voicemails. I just delete them. Just the other day in fact I deleted eight without ever listening to them." I kid you not. That is exactly what he said to me! Me (stunned): "Is this going to be a problem? I've got an early morning plane to catch and I need to know right now if I need to scramble for some alternative options." Mike: "Well, no. I guess I can give her the insulin. Just give me your vet's name and number in case there's a problem." Oy! I felt tremendous guilt leaving my cats behind and wondered whether I'd actually see L alive again. What a lousy way to start a vacation. Happily the cats seemed to do fine - although they were certainly happy to come home. I was a bit chagrined when I arrived back at City Cat and found the medical instructions hanging on the wrong cat's crate, but Mike assured me that the right cat had been receiving her insulin. I guess I'll take his word for it. What choice do I have? read more

We were really grateful to find cat city and have our beloved cat stay here for a week or so while we moved to Seattle. It was easy to book her stay and she and the other cats were well cared for. We'd definitely use Cat City again! My only tiny gripe is that I had to wait a bit to pick her up as the staff was out for a short break when I came to pick her up. Not a big deal whatsoever, but just plan and call ahead for pick up and drop off to ensure convenience! read more

City Cat Boarding Resort was a great place to board our cat, Mischa for a week long stay. Mike is a great guy and very sweet to all the cats. Unlike other places we've boarded her ("cat jail" as we've called them), City Cat has huge kitty condos and the cats get out to roam often (so long as they're being nice). Truly is a cat resort -- lots of toys to play with and fish tanks to look at -- and no dogs. Reasonably priced at about $15/night. We'll definitely board here again. read more

Super clean. My cat was boarded for a week. He did well there. Michael is a very nice man and you know cats are into him. I also love that the good kitties are out and socializing with others. Did not ask if my cat was given that privilege, but all the cats that were wandering the lobby seems really nice. I will definitely return for this service. read more

I've been coming here since I got my cat last year. The owner is so nice! I've never been turned away because it is too full. The cats can roam around and socialize if they are able to get along with the others. Toys and posts for the cats to play with. The cat "houses" or whatever they are called are pretty big. Two story little houses. Prices are decent :) I already have another stay scheduled for my cat. I will continue to come to city cat when i need to board my cat! Awesome place. read more

This is a great place to leave your cat for a short or long-term stay. Cats only, so there are no barking dogs. Mike, the owner, has custom designed several spacious "kitty condos" instead of cages. You can rest assured that your kitty will be safe and comfortable here, without the stress of barking dogs. read more

For 3 years my cat has stayed at Cat City Boarding Resort more than 5 times. Vacations are better knowing my sweet kitty is being looked after by the owner and his staff. The "kitty condos" are the size and shape of a phone booth with several levels or one level for older cats like mine. The resort is calm, quiet, clean, doesn't smell, and only accepts cats. Sometimes my cat is so comfortable when I come to pick her up that she doesn't want to leave. read more

I needed last minute boarding for two cats. Cat City was the only place I could find that had space. I decided to go for it - I was desperate. The owner couldn't have been nicer - very accommodating to my schedule and flexible regarding drop off time. When I arrived at the business, the first thing I noticed, or rather didn't notice, was that it DID NOT smell. There were at least 10 other cats there, and it was immaculate. Warm, comfortable for the cats, and very clean. My cats have been back once more and the older cat literally did not want to leave. read more

In between moves needed to board my 14 year old kitty. She'd never been boarded other than a couple of vet visits. Mike was AWESOME. The facility was very clean. The cats seemed very well tended and when I called to check on her, he was so very reassuring that she was doing just fine. EXCELLENT experience. read more

My parents have used Cat City over the years for their cat without any problems. This time my dad's cat came home INFESTED WITH FLEAS and a RESPIRATORY INFECTION. So the cat has been to the vet twice for fluids and blood draws. The infection hopefully will be identified soon and treated. Yes, the cat is fully vaccinated and he is an indoor cat. Mike has been less than supportive with the information my dad thought he might like to know. Mike's response was "oh, indoor cats get fleas sometimes too" and his response to the respiratory infection "oh that happens all the time, I just go next door and get some powder and put it on their food." I would definitely think twice before boarding a cat at this kennel. Discuss with your vet the problems that can occur when cats are allowed to roam around outside their crates. This office is not a customer friendly office. Seemed pretty chaotic at the time when I wanted to make a reservation for my cat. When I reserved a spot and asked to come in and take a look, after confirming that I wanted it, he gave my spot away to the first caller. We were left with no boarding for our cat 24 hours before we went out of town. Unacceptable customer service as far as I am concerned. read more

Make sure you have second option for cat care if you are planning on using this place. I discussed the drop off date and time with Mike a couple of weeks prior to our vacation, but come drop off date there was no way of getting a hold of him. I ended up relying on friends and hope that Mike is ok - But his business model does not include adequate coverage to back him up if he is for some reason not available. For me I think the scenario would have been even worse if I was just back from vacation and couldn't figure out how to get my cats out of there. read more

Mike was extremely friendly and helpful when I got my first cat. I rescued my first cat Zoe, when a friend of Mike's told be about a cat that needed a home. I was naturally not prepared to take care of Zoe and I was only going to look. Mike was nice enough to provide a litter box and some cat food free of charge. Mike even told me if Zoe did not work out that I could return her to him. My wife and I both love the owner of this business and hope it stays open for a long time. read more
