I purchased an English Bulldog puppy from Sunshine Puppies for about $3,000, thinking it was a…read moreresponsible place based on their claims of working with "top breeders." The staff seemed nice at first, the store looked clean enough, and they assured me the puppies were healthy. Tragically, that was far from the truth. Within weeks of bringing her home, my puppy began showing alarming signs: severe breathing difficulties, collapsing episodes, and constant exhaustion. After rushing to multiple vets and a specialist cardiologist, we got the heartbreaking news--she has Tetralogy of Fallot, a rare and life-threatening congenital heart defect. The vet explained that, sadly, she likely only has 1-2 years to live, even with aggressive treatment, and options like surgery are limited or risky for her breed. Devastated, I returned to the store right away to inform them of the diagnosis and beg for any kind of assistance--whether a partial refund, health support, exchange, or just some accountability for selling a puppy with such a severe, undisclosed condition. The employee listened briefly, showed no real sympathy, and promised the owner would call me immediately to discuss options. That call never happened. Days turned into weeks--no callback, no email, no follow-up whatsoever. Total radio silence. This experience has been emotionally and financially crushing. Thousands spent on diagnostics and ongoing care for a puppy facing a shortened, difficult life, all because the store either skips proper health screening or knowingly sells puppies from questionable sources. Their website talks about "compassionate and responsible breeding programs," but their actions tell a very different story--zero support when a customer needs it most. Avoid this place at all costs. There are plenty of ethical breeders who health-test extensively or wonderful rescues full of loving dogs needing homes. I deeply regret not choosing one of those options instead. This store broke my heart and left me with no recourse. Save yourself the pain--steer clear of Sunshine Puppies in Largo.

Haines Road Animal Hospital - Rather expensive for an eye exam that lasted 15 minutes.

My family has been taking our pets here for literally 30 years, I've continued the tradition with…read moremy big boy over the past almost 10 years and in that time I've watched the prices skyrocket and the care.. not so much. My old man ruptured a growth on his leg which was oozing blood for days, when I called first thing Monday morning I was told they had availability the next day at 8am or 5:20pm, great, 8am it is. I show up and call from the parking lot where I am told they had me scheduled for a week later.. why I'd be okay with waiting a week when my dog is actively bleeding, I don't know. They did allow us to be seen, which is the reason for the extra star. They gave bubba a once over, agreed the growth needs removed, then handed over an estimate for a whopping $2300 and oh, they're booked for 3 weeks (don't forget, the dog is actively bleeding).. But they can do the bloodwork now for however many extra hundreds that'll be! Isn't that nice. So, I'm writing this 2 days later, sitting next to my drugged up dog. I found a new vet. They squeezed him in this morning at 8am, did the bloodwork, kept him all day to squeeze in the 1 hour surgery AND cleaned his teeth and did his nails FOR FREE because he was already under anesthesia. The cost? $1500. I liked haines, I defended this overpriced vet for so long, but I won't be back. I'm thrilled I found an awesome, privately owned vet on such short notice, but am so disappointed in haines road animal hospital.

Largo Central Railroad - A is loving the train ride

Largo Central Park itself is beautiful and beautifully laid out. We were happy to visit during the month of December 2019. This is a super cute small scale railroad which is suitable for kids ages 1 +. During the first weekend of the month they offer complimentary rides on both Saturday and Sunday. The rides are from 10am-4pm and be prepared to wait in line. Although we arrived there shortly after 10am there was still a fairly fast moving but lengthy line that made me wonder how it would be if you arrived before 10am. There were two trains in operation the day we went so this made the process faster. Upon arrival you are asked to fill out and sign a waiver for you and your family that is taking part in the ride that absolves the "railroad company" of any liability if you are injured. Then you are given a punch card with the date you attended punched out on it. You are allowed to rode once on either day of the first full weekend of the month. For December they had a Santa and Mrs. Claus sitting on a bench under the covered portion of the outdoor "station" as you meandered through the line. You could take a complimentary picture with the duo and they handed out candy canes to the little ones. Everyone that worked there was so nice as well! When you arrive We chose to go on a Sunday in December and were not disappointed. Our daughter is train/ride obsessed and loved this. She enjoyed looking at all the holiday decor and zooming past the water feature as well as going in the tunnel. It was fun and a cute activity for her to partake in. She loved pointing out the other train go by as we whizzed past and she loves going in the tunnel. She had a permasmile the entire time. They even offer a Polar Express Ride on select evenings during the holiday season where all the decorations are illuminated and I believe refreshments are included for a fee. If our daughter had a later bedtime we would have bought tickets for this but it will have to wait. After going on the train we checked out different aspects of the park such as their massive Christmas tree (daughter is obsessed) as well as their awesome playground area which was the coolest that I have been to in awhile. There were lots of features for a variety of ages! Parking for the railroad is the same parking as the park.
