I left a voicemail in a panic and got a call first thing the next morning that Nicci would cut and color my hair that day! So I didn't end up getting that job, but I have become a very satisfied regular customer for the past year. Going to Cat N Fiddle is kind of like going to your favorite coffee house. You get what you expect---EVERY time. These guys have years of experience and traning as well. Other salons come and gone but they have been in this same location for 15 years! I had never met Nicci before that first cut and my hair was grown out and a mess, and I am not a good "talker" but he knew. Then, months later, it became inevitable that my hair was not going to be straight anymore due to the moist climate. He helped me make peace with my curls and taught me about frizz control so it is no longer something I need to think about. The music is always awesome--but varied. So forget how wonderful Nicci and Danny are--the view from the chair is breathtaking!!!! A vacation in itself. Highly Recommend this place! read more

Horrible customer service. I was told to f*** off and hung up on. EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. I wasn't even trying to be rude! I said I would find another salon because I didn't want to pay a ridiculous $50 for a BASIC and AVERAGE haircut, which I had already paid for and was requesting a redo because I wasn't satisfied but would have to pay full price again because I was a couple days beyond there "within two weeks" policy for redo's. Simply for the completely unnecessary profanity over the phone, I'm willing to go out of my way to tell others DON'T GO TO THIS SALON. Not worth it. read more

I left phone messages four times and never got a return phone call. I gave up. Just be aware that if you want to establish a connection with this salon/ stylist , you may have to call for months before anyone will answer the phone or return a message. read more

How have I not reviewed the Cat N Fiddle Salon yet? I can't say enough good things. I have been going to this salon since I was a child. Nicci is my stylist and he knows hair like the back of your hand. He is amazing and deals with all sorts of hair types. He can do coloring, styling, up-dos and more. Nothing beats the conversations though. Nicci is so much fun. You won't go wrong if you come here. My entire family comes to the salon. Even though I have moved out of town, I still drive back to Bellingham to get my hair done because the styling is great, the prices are reasonable, and the AVEDA products are ease on the hair. Dani is another excellent stylist here. The stylists at the Cat N Fiddle practically become members of your family. They are so warm and do a great job. The location is also beautiful. There are great views of Fairhaven and the bay. The salon is also beautifully decorated in a historic Fairhaven building. There are always great tunes playing behind the scenes too. Coming to the salon is not only a great experience for your hair, but it is just too much fun! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! read more

Where do I start, My wife says "They get paid for that???" My neckline...is F@#$D up, I have bald spots, nothing was blended, and my son's cut.... AWFUL. And they charged 75 bucks........ Stefanie is EXCELLENT. For the last year and a half, she has been the only person in Bellingham I've trusted to tame these tousled locks. She is also cute as a button, and a gem of a human being. Haircuts here come with a scalp massage (a treat in itself), and all the chairs face a stretch of windows that look down on Bellingham Bay from the salon's top-floor vantage point. It is beautiful, and good music is playing, and you are gossiping with a bubbly stylist while she works magic on your head. I've always walked out with a smile on my face and always gotten compliments on the new cut. read more

Since no one has reviewed this abomination of an establishment in quite some time (and they have no other site reviewing their performance), I feel it necessary to warn others off before you make the same mistake I did in patronizing this salon. Let me just start out by saying that I've been to dozens of Aveda salons in the past 7-8 years. As I'm in the military, I move around frequently and have been to an Aveda salon on just about every coast in the United States. That being said, Cat N Fiddle leaves SO much to be desired. This place shouldn't even be allowed to be affiliated with Aveda, other than the fact that they carry Aveda products. I have never had such an awful experience not only with a stylist, but with an entire salon. The two men who own this salon are rude, and do not listen to what you want done with your hair. Long story short: I wanted a "grown out effect" in my hair--dark roots, fading down into blonde streaks slowly turning into brightened hair at the bottom. A kind of modified ombré effect, if you will. The jackass who did my hair, Danny (one of the owners of the salon), jacked up my hair the first time, just giving me highlights all the way to my scalp, even when I showed him not one, not two--but three pictures of what I wanted. I even stated clearly on the phone and in person what I wanted. So he offered to re-do it for me the following week. I go in five days later, and he literally does the EXACT same thing, except with even BRIGHTER highlights going to my scalp, but with darker color at my roots. Then he proceeds to blame me and patronize me because I didn't have the foresight to read his mind. I literally could not have been more clear that second time around with what I wanted. AND he refused to finish the highlights on the bottom section of hair that he hadn't gotten to yet, when I told him he had done it wrong again! He didn't even show me swatches of color that he was going to put on my head, either time. I guess because he thinks he's such an expert that he just magically knows what a client wants. On both occasions, I've never felt so disrespected at a salon, even more so the second time I came in. Let's not forget to mention the fact that this salon is extremely difficult to find. It's on the fifth floor of an ordinary-looking brick building in downtown Bellingham with almost NO signage around telling you that it's there. I have to wait a couple weeks now because my hair has been so over processed from this whole ordeal, after which I'm going to a real Aveda salon. One that will treat me and my hair with the respect we deserve. TL;DR--if you're a middle-aged housewife who likes to stick to the same boring hairstyles from the 90s and early 2000s (the decade that the gay men who own this salon are clearly stuck in), this place is for you. If you want a real Aveda salon, look elsewhere, my friends. read more
