1 star I honestly…read moredon't know how this place has so many 5-star reviews. Let me be clear up front: this is not a spa. It starts with the building, which is rough- there isn't even a dedicated lobby. And the bathrooms? Disgusting. That matters more than you'd think, because instead of sheets you lie on one of those thin, cheap white towels. I actually watched a masseuse rinsing one out in the bathroom sink afterward with the hand soap. Not exactly confidence-inspiring. The massage itself was just okay. The room was freezing, and I'm not convinced Nan, who did mine, fully understood what she was doing. I would bet she's not even licensed. I booked a Swedish massage, but "a little more pressure" somehow turned into go-crazy-intense deep tissue. She also spent a strange amount of time on my legs, it felt less like a spa massage and more like the quick rub-down you get at a nail salon. If this were a budget spot, fine. But it's not priced like one. The lack of basic etiquette sealed it. When the massage ended, I hopped off the table and was putting my jewelry back on when Nan knocked exactly once and barged right back in. No water offered. She thrust the card machine at me, and as I went to pay she stepped in so close I had to actually ask her not to hover over me. Nothing about this felt relaxing or professional. There are far better places to spend your money.

Coco was the first therapist who not only heard what I was saying but figured out precisely where my body was failing me. There are plenty of well-trained massage therapists who will deliver the textbook experience, but in over 20 years of various deep tissue, Thai, shiatsu, etc. massages, I can count on one hand the number of therapists with this uncanny ability to find the exact pressure points that need release. Coco is that rare person and I'd recommend her wholeheartedly. I was sore, to be sure, but that night I slept without pain for the first time in months. The booking experience is entirely online (though I suppose you can call). The ambience is chill vibes. Would definitely recommend and repeat if the need arises again.

I had previously seen a physical therapist over 4 visits, to no relief, and never considered sports massage therapy. I booked with Vincent for my third visit after reading reviews about his ability with shoulder pain specifically. After two visits with Vincent over the course of 3 -4 months, my shoulder pain has gone away. Crazy thing is I don't even know when it went away. But I do know that after both visits I felt better circulation. Something, I can't say what exactly, but something always felt better. I did like the first two therapists and felt I was on the right track with sports massage, but I had the best connection with Vincent. One year later, which was last week, I went to see him again for overall upper body health and circulation. Vincent is professional, kind, and is knowledgeable about human physiology. Unfortunately he no longer services 34th St, only the 54th location. I recommend Vincent and all the staff at Body Mechanics.

His teaching style was clear, thorough, and deeply respectful of both the tradition of Thai massage and the diverse backgrounds of his students. I walked away from the course with a solid grasp of both technique and purpose, and I genuinely feel more confident integrating this work into my massage practice. What really stood out was his professionalism and inclusivity. At the beginning of class, Gavin offered students the opportunity to participate in a traditional Thai mantra. As a Christian, I shared with him that when I put my hands together in prayer, I am only comfortable praying to Jesus. He respected that without hesitation and moved forward with grace, making it clear that everyone's beliefs were honored. That moment of mutual respect made me feel safe, seen, and valued in the space. His knowledge is extensive, but what makes him truly effective is his ability to teach with both structure and flexibility. He was well organized, gave everyone individual attention, and made sure no one was left behind. Gavin brings both clarity and humility to his instruction, qualities that are not only rare but deeply appreciated. This was one of the most meaningful continuing education experiences I've had. Gavin is an asset to the Swedish Institute, and I hope others have the chance to learn from him the way I did. Tina Seta

Brian is also a great storyteller, you will be sitting at the edge of your seat! You can also just feel the energy as you walk into the space. It was a life changing experience, I can't imagine my life not having gone through this training with Brian. I made the decision to take Reiki Level 2, 4 months after. Another unbelievable experience that went so much deeper. You can feel that Brian is holding space for you as level 2 can be a powerful experience. Another amazing perk are the Reiki Circles that are offered once a month. For you to practice on other students and receive treatment. Everyone is so open and welcoming! I almost never miss these monthly circles. You will always walk out feeling better :) I've also had the lovely opportunity to work with Diane. She is such a genuine, warm, open person. And super intuitive. She's helped me open my heart, in the biggest way I did not know was possible. I had a powerful session with her prior to my trip in Hawaii. Within the first few days of my trip, I met my now fiance :) You won't regret a session with Diane, don't hesitate!

After years of P/T and acupuncture keeping the condition "contained", I needed a new treatment. My doctor recommended trying sports massage therapy. I am so grateful to have found Bodyworks DW as it completely improved my condition in a way that no other treatment has! I am incredibly thankful. Over the years I have worked with several different therapists (@ Bodyworks DW) at different levels and each has their own style yet all were incredibly knowledgeable, skilled and professional. I would like to highlight Rachel (lead therapist) as she is amazing! Due to her background in dance, pilates & yoga, she is well versed in body movement and can point out the root of any discomfort. She was the one I worked with the most with my condition and I still work with her! I highly recommend Bodyworks DW to anyone that is looking for the best massage to relax or rehabilitate a physical condition.

Called and discovered they had erroneously booked the massage at their midtown location despite my having only received services through a the FiDi location. They are now charging me in full the price of the massage for their mistake as a "cancellation", even though I showed up at the date/time/location discussed on the phone that was input into the system incorrectly by their own employee (important to note that I made my booking over the phone and NOT through their online booking portal, which has awful functionality by the way). I pointed out their error and but they are clearly greedy and don't want to come out of pocket for their own employee's mistake so I still have a $250 charge on my account. I would caution going with Bodywork's as there are plenty of other great alternatives in the city that would not try to place the blame on the customer.
