4.5. Enjoyed a terrific 60 minute massage a couple weeks ago. They have a variety of treatments that are available to book online or over the phone.* Arriving to the address the business is located on a couple floors inside a commercial building. You sign in at the lobby, then take an elevator up to the reception. I was running a little late and they were accommodating to start a little after the hour (they do mention when booking if you arrive late you forfeit the time, which makes sense since there may be customers booked after your spot). My masseuse (sorry I forgot her name!) was wonderful, very patient in waiting for me to arrive, asking if I wanted any water or tea, explaining the process and asking if I liked soft, medium or firm pressure. The pressure was accurate to my selection and she really worked on some of those knots! Felt decently sore the next day as I expected. The spaces - reception and treatment room were both set up nicely, clean and comfortable. I will say the bathrooms (which may have been shared with the rest of the floor) were a bit tight and could've been in better shape. It was the coldest day of December and my long, heavy coat was a bit hard to manage inside the bathroom stall. Didn't deduct any stars here since I'm not sure this is something they can control directly in case of a shared facility. *When I originally called to book, I thought it was interesting that they directed me to book on the website giving the reason that they'd need to take my credit card number over the phone if booking via call, versus entering my credit number online. While I appreciate the flexibility and security of passing my cc number over a website this also meant signing up for another website which usually means I'll get marketing emails that I may or may not be interested in at some point or another (aka spam). So I'm not sure if this was a persuasive selling point bc we could all use a few less marketing emails these days. read more

1 star I honestly don't know how this place has so many 5-star reviews. Let me be clear up front: this is not a spa. It starts with the building, which is rough- there isn't even a dedicated lobby. And the bathrooms? Disgusting. That matters more than you'd think, because instead of sheets you lie on one of those thin, cheap white towels. I actually watched a masseuse rinsing one out in the bathroom sink afterward with the hand soap. Not exactly confidence-inspiring. The massage itself was just okay. The room was freezing, and I'm not convinced Nan, who did mine, fully understood what she was doing. I would bet she's not even licensed. I booked a Swedish massage, but "a little more pressure" somehow turned into go-crazy-intense deep tissue. She also spent a strange amount of time on my legs, it felt less like a spa massage and more like the quick rub-down you get at a nail salon. If this were a budget spot, fine. But it's not priced like one. The lack of basic etiquette sealed it. When the massage ended, I hopped off the table and was putting my jewelry back on when Nan knocked exactly once and barged right back in. No water offered. She thrust the card machine at me, and as I went to pay she stepped in so close I had to actually ask her not to hover over me. Nothing about this felt relaxing or professional. They made me wait there an hour after my service to be told my gift card "expired" (it was 14 months old), even though there was no expiration date and how does a gift card even expire in general?? Good choice for a splurge massage in the area. Same building as Sakagura. Was just as confused as the first time heading there. Keep walking past the first 2 turns in the lobby to get to the elevators. They have 2 floors in an otherwise corporate looking building. Got a Swedish massage. Masseuse was polite and professional. Small in stature but impressive in strength. Checked in regularly to make sure I was ok and to confirm pressure levels. Appropriate focus was given to problem areas that were noted ahead of time. Facilities are solid and clean. Perhaps my only complaint was the presence of a standing AC unit. It did provide some white noise that led me to zone out a bit but I could have done without the volume. If you're aiming for relaxation then having a loud floor unit in the tiny room is sub-optimal. I had a really bad pain in my shoulder blade and I went in as a walk-in. They didn't tell me before coming in that the door was locked and that you had to call for a code when I called them from the outside they told me they would give me the code, but somebody else let me in, and I almost went into another massage place, that's how bad the communication was when it came in because I had not pre-booked. They wanted my credit card which was fine and then they asked me before my massage if I would like to give my tip or if I might like to give it afterwards, I told him of course I would like to give it afterwards. The woman came out it was all business. I was a lead into a room that had two massage tables with big teddy bears on the dresser, which looked frankly stupid, and it was obviously a couples massage room so they don't even have a place for a massage room for one person In the waiting room there's a table filled with candy again it's kind of cornball and not particularly professional. I asked for Swedish, but I asked for deep Swedish and the lady kept saying either would be deep tissue or deep Swedish and she didn't seem to think she could do both which any normal place could do but I thought OK fine let her do a light Swedish, It turns out she has very strong hands and I had to tell her at least four times to go lighter. I had to ask for the air conditioning to be turned off and instead of giving me a nice blanket it was just a towel over me, but they did heat The table as I asked so that was a plus. The woman obviously knew what she was doing but it was not a great massage and I came out with more pain not less and the price was $145 which is very high for one hour, Needless to say, I did not feel that this was a magnificent job and I did not make the choice to tip. They asked me if I wanted to tip and I explained that I felt not, and they glared at me with hatred When a place makes it clear that all they are about is taking your money sticking you on the table and then pocketing the tip. I do not believe that this is a place worthy of a good review I went there, because I saw a number of good reviews, and I certainly think the woman was capable enough, but the experience was not pleasant, and in this case, she did not relieve my pain and infection, announced that the muscles were too tight like dah? think I came in for a massage? Anyhow I can't recommend these people I'm sure New York City is filled with great massage people and I don't need to be treated this way and neither do you. read more

What an amazing experience! I've had many professional massages before and most of the time I do some kind of deep tissue. They offer Thai style massages so I thought I'd give it a try when my friends birthday came around she wanted to get one too. What a great atmosphere. They started out session with a happy Birthday slice of cake and singing for her and a champagne service for us. The room was adorably decorated with balloons and flowers. They even printed a Polaroid to take. Most importantly the massage was AMAZING! If you've never done Thai style Do it. The additional stretching is intense and I felt so great afterwards. But it was close to my hotel, so I said, why not? I had the best massage I have ever had. It was with Ani (?), a small Thai woman who had the strength of Arnold Schwarzenegger. I booked a 90-minute swedish, and she covered my whole body where I felt great for weeks afterwards. Everything was very clean and tidy and well decorated with snacks and drinks, but don't be fooled. Don't come here if u want a thorough massage. I wouldn't even consider a massage. It felt more like a stretch and he pressed on a few pressure points repetitively. Like over and over again and it felt so uncomfortable. On one of the moves, I'm pretty sure he pressed on the middle of my spine with full force (keep in mind this is a man and I am a woman)expecting some sort of crack like this isn't a chiropractor.
