You order something and point to it, and the server grabs some unlabelled mystery meat (with no label) from behind the counter. Whatever DOP prosciutto you've ordered, you'll be getting San Danielle(garbage). Made in Canada, over salted, full of hormones and chemicals, and slightly rancid. Italian prosciutto doesn't taste anything like that because all Italian prosciutto is chemical and hormone free by European law. My wife has unfortunately bought Speck (a smoked Tyrolean prosciutto) there a few times. It has been rancid - every time!. This may be linked to their packaged Italian product scam. In Italy, all these foods must, by law, have a marked expiration date. The Italian items at Lady York have an expiration that has been obscured by a sticker, wiped off with solvent or bear and clearly expired date (check your olive oil!). Basically they buy items that were destined for an Italian dumpster for next to nothing and sell them to you at a premium. It's hard to find such 'old world' scams these days, especially in Italy. Because in Italy, they would put these guys in jail.

When the call was made a very mean grumpy miserable old man had answered the phone and in a very angry voice said "this is the meat department ! You should be calling the main store line !" I told him this was the main number on the website that given. If this is not the number can you transfer me? He said " NO !" With that the man hung up on me. They carry all of the Middle Eastern household grocery staples: different varieties of pita bread, dates, figs (both dried and fresh), bulgur (different coarseness levels), tahini, hummus, babbaghanoush, labneh, dried fruits and nuts, olives, etc. Product quality for both the produce and dried goods is EXCELLENT. They carry a lot of international products that might not be as easily found in other chain supermarkets. Arz Fine Foods also manufactures, packages, and sells a lot of their own branded products, ranging from chopped and packed produce (e.g. parsley, salads) to pita bread and jams. Their bakery / sweets section offers a variety of different baklavas, freshly made knafeh, Turkish delights, and more. The hot food section allows you to order on the spot and they make it fresh. Menu includes manakeesh, grilled items, and sides (rice, potatoes, mixed vegetables, tabbouleh, etc.). There are a few very small tables if you wish to dine in. In the other section with readily prepared foods, there are mujaddara (rice & lentils with fried onions), arnabeet (charred cauliflower), grilled eggplant, dolma (stuffed grape vine leaves), stuffed cabbage rolls, falafels, mutabal, and more -- a lot of my favourite Middle Eastern vegetarian and vegan food items! There is free parking available right outside in the parameters of the supermarket, but the parking space is tight and always packed. Turnover for parking spots is quite fast though (we never had to wait more than 2 minutes to get a spot). The interior of the supermarket is quite small, crammed, and always busy. But everyone seems to always be courteous enough to make room for each other and let each other pass. The lineup for cashier (using a common line) may seem long at times, but it moves fast. The cashiers work at lightning speed.

This is a small to medium sized specialty supermarket - the specialty is their meat. Probably this store has some Italian background? They also have a wide selection of prepared meat items, for instance I saw they had ready to bake Beef Wellington :D However, I'm not too sure about the taste as I tried their breakfast sausage and it turned out far too salty for me. The other side of being a specialty store means...not having that much choices for other types of items. Produce choices are satisfying enough but of less variety than bigger supermarkets. I somehow liked their packaging of using ziplock bags for salad leaves and other produces, it saved me a bit of fridge space. Seafood choices are very limited. Being a person with a diet that stresses heavily on seafood and white meats, that weekend I did end up going for a second grocery trip to get all the items I needed. The store had very few customers during my visit. It has the feeling of a neighborhood grocer that serves only who knows this place - I happened to hear a customer talking to the butcher and it sounded like the customer had been coming to the store for food for a long time. This particular location is in the suburbs and there is a small lot for parking. I decided to visit for their Mildred's Temple Kitchen pancake mix -- luckily I found it thanks to a worker. While I was shopping, I was excited to see that they had the famous cream top milk. There are so many premade foods, and cool products from companies I've never seen before. This grocery store chain reminds me of Village Grocer and Farm Boy. There are four cashier tills and they help bag your items. I'd come back to Summerhill Market to purchase some things exclusively, but I wouldn't make this my go to grocer as it's quite expensive.
