Catalyst locations seem to get a wide range of reviews, but for this location, the reviews were SPOT ON! Recommended to us by a Head Shop manager in Redondo Beach, it was the closest dispensary, 25 mins, from our stayca spot. Set back in a corner of a strip mall, Catalyst has quite a footprint. On the Friday we popped in, a brand they offer had an event in the Catalyst "event room". I guess it was for invited guests who partake of that particular brand because it wasn't just open to anyone. No prob for us, we were just popping in to check out Catalyst. Hubs made a purchase, got a first timers discount and was given a flyer for Customer Appreciation Day the next day! We returned the next day after lunch and Hubs was sure they would be out of House Shake since it was a sale day. He not only picked up what he wanted, but not ONCE did I hear a bud tender say, 'oh, actually, we're out of that,' which I seem to hear, pretty much every time, at other sales events. It starts to feel more like a closeout sale. Not at Catalyst! They seemed well stocked with quite a large selection and welcoming staff once again. Hubs found these ADORABLE mini (1/2 size?) joints he thought would be fun for a few hits. Nope, them bad babies were 2 puffs and "2BC". Strooong, he says. I'll have to take the ol' hippy's word for it, but he thought those were a real find on a customer appreciation day. Prices seem in line with others we've been to. The only trick can be the parking. I went into this establishment yesterday, February 19 and for the second or third time I did not remember they did not take paid by phone or any payment by phone. They only take cards. There was a young lady who had braids in African-American young lady who screamed very loudly and told me no soliciting when I simply ask a gentleman in line if I can send him the money and he can get it for me so I don't have to leave and come back to save time. I then left and got my card and came back. It was still not good energy and the Manager Anna was very pleasantly rude. I will never go back there and I will never recommend this place ever in my life. It is the worst dispensary I have ever been to, and I've definitely been to plenty. Security at this location is extremely rude and inconsistent. Garrett attempted to refuse entry because I parked on site and told me to park offsite, the surrounding parking feels unsafe. I parked right in front of the dispensary and was still told to move, which puts customers at risk of theft or being robbed when they leave. When I asked for a manager, security delayed calling one for an extended time. Then, another guest was allowed to park onsite and enter the lounge without being questioned. You can come here at 9:23PM and they will turn you away. Super disappointing especially on 420. Wouldn't recommend coming here. Staff is rude. Especially considering I've been a great customer here for awhile and even recommended this place to friends. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place after my experience here tonight. Absolutely Terrible Customer Service - Gave Me the Wrong Product and Refused to Fix It I went into Catalyst looking for a simple indica cart nothing fancy, just something that won't make me feel anxious or weird. I told the woman at the counter clearly that I wanted indica, and I didn't care what flavor. Instead of helping, she started asking me a bunch of questions about flavors and strains like I was supposed to know all the options off the top of my head. When I asked what the difference was, she gave me a nasty attitude like I was bothering her for doing her job. I ended up choosing a flavor she mentioned, trusting that she was giving me the **indica** I asked for. She didn't let me see the box until after I paid which should've been a red flag. When I walked outside and checked, turns out it was a **hybrid** cart. Exactly what I didn't want. Hybrids make me feel awful and paranoid, and I always avoid them. I walked back in to explain their mistake and asked to exchange it. They basically told me "too bad" and refused to help me, even though it was their fault. So now I'm stuck with a product I specifically said I didn't want, all because of lazy customer service and a complete lack of accountability. This was my last time shopping at Catalyst. If you actually care about getting the right product or being treated like a human go somewhere else. read more
