I worked with Catalyst Mortgage to refinance my home in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Catalyst Mortgage not only offered me the best financial package (rate + fees); they made the process as pain free and as fast as was possible from start to finish. I should say that I am now a year into my new mortgage and fully satisfied with my experience. From a financial aspect, Catalyst Mortgage offered me the best deal in terms of dollars out of my pocket at the end of the day which was my primary criteria in choosing an institution to work with. I had originally contacted my existing lender to refinance my home. I was 3/4 of the way through the process with them (my existing lender) when I received an ad in the mail from Catalyst Mortgage. I opted to give them a call to see what they had to offer; not even knowing if I could halt the process with my existing lender. I wasn't clear on at exactly what point I was locked into the loan. Craig assured me that I was free to shop around and change my mind until I signed the loan docs. Craig and his team ran the numbers for me and came back with a far better offer than my current lender had made. I started the refi process with Craig/Catalyst Mortgage. I also went back to my current lender to see if they could make me a better offer; not only could they not make me a better offer but they couldn't even match the Catalyst Mortgage offer. While I was on the phone, I called some other lenders who were also not able to beat the Catalyst Mortgage offer. From an overall customer service aspect, I have nothing but positive things to say about the Catalyst Mortgage team. I experienced no hiccups in the process. Their office is located several hours from my home which was in no way an issue. We were easily able to handle the whole process via phone and email with the exception of the actual document signing. For that, their title company arranged for a mobile notary to come to the location of my choice at the time of my choosing at no cost to me. I highly recommend Catalyst Mortgage and specifically Loan Originator, Will Harlan, for first mortgage or refinance. Great rates, low cost and excellent customer service make Catalyst the best choice for all finance options I had been working with another lender to refinance my home, consolidate a first and second mortgage and pull a small amount of cash out. The other lender's closing costs were high as was their interest rate. In the four weeks I worked with that lender, I spoke with three different people, in two time zones. When I would call with questions, I'd leave a voicemail and they'd call me back - usually when I didn't have my question or documents in front of me. We were nowhere near approval or closing four weeks after all documents were uploaded to their website. I called Catalyst Mortgage after receiving a mailer and reached Will Harlan. Will gave me a quick estimate of the cost to refinance my home. It was significantly lower than the other lender. The closing costs were roughly half what that lender was going to charge, and the interest rate was also lower. I got serious about uploading documents after Will's email on May 21. We signed the refinance yesterday, June 21. Will helped me through the whole process, from that first phone call, through gathering and uploading (or faxing, texting or emailing, my choice) all documents. Will was available to answer questions 24/7. When I reached his voicemail, he called back within minutes. He also gave me his cell phone number in case I had issues on weekends. I had dragged my feet for months, dreading the refinance process. I helped my mother and another friend through uploading documents, and it was a nightmare (neither of these loans were with Catalyst). I was in the process of refinancing my home with SELFi a mortgage company that ending up being in L.A. I was not happy with the lack of communication not to mention where they were located. I also found out when we started the process that the 2nd on my home reported me as being late, which was not the case. I received a mailer from Catalyst and reached out to Chris Emery for more information. I had started a refi process with our original lender but decided to see what Catalyst had to offer. I soon realized the process with them was so easy when the other was so stressful, always asking for more documents and often the same ones.
