Label from bottle of Big Ben's Finest Blue Birch Beer.
Eric W.

Five different flavors of birch beer? You should be sold already. Blue, White, Brown, Red, and Golden. Ever have Golden Birch Beer at the Bloomsburg Fair? Odds are it's Catawissa Bottling Co/Big Ben's. Products are available in either glass or plastic bottles. In the local area you often see this soda served at local church picnics and at various stands around the Bloomsburg Fair. They also make Moxie, which I am not a fan of personally, but has a wide following. What knocks a star off is the occasional bad batch you get, it tends to be among the Orange, Lime, and Red Cream flavors more then others.

Ok. Let me explain the 3 star rating. If you're a shopper…read moreyou will be pretty happy as it's always packed with vendors. Last time I was there was last summer so writing this a year later. Food selection is very good and reasonable prices. The drive to get there is beautiful, or you can use the interstate nearby. Most vendors have reasonable prices. Huge selection of options to buy stuff. Now, I tried setting up and selling as a vendor. THAT WAS A DISASTER! I actually LOST MONEY trying to sell stuff . I didn't make even $25 and I had an entire truck filled with all kinds of items. The area is extremely poor. The people who were there to shop were mostly broke. They want every thing for a dollar. Lots of " I'll be back" and "I'll think about it". That's code for "I'm broke" lol. So, if you're a shopper Theres lots to buy at good prices. If your a vendor hats not food then good luck making money. I think the only reason vendors go is because it's open on Wednesday and no other markets are so the vendors come. That entire area for miles and multiple towns are economically depressed. Definitely not economically viable. So if you have cash to downs you'll be very happy here.

The French Baker inside offers delicious pastries and galettes in the Old World tradition. Baguette…read morechoice is a roll of the dice. Ask for the Parisian for the most authentic. The tomato pie at GUMBA's is delicious. Everyone raves about the cannoli; I'll try it next time!

In the middle of PA, who would've thought you would find a pleasant café with seafood? I enjoyed…read morethe lobster roll special today. This is my go to place for lunch.

I managed to find the time to not overlook this beautiful seafood market and adjacent cafe. They…read morehave a wonderful selection of white fishes, salmon and shellfish in addition to mainly local items of interest in their grocer like marinades to try, dog and cat treats (my cats are essentially like the simplest man, they don't care for treats outside of just being fed), cedar plank boards for setting up a great cedar plank salmon and local bags of coffee and kombucha. Adjacent is a sit down cafe with takeout and delivery options including salads, sandos, sushi and a little something for those picky little sailors that are maybe in your life! It's off of 11 between Danville and Bloomsburg and it's a beautiful gem of an operation backed by a local family. Only 4 stars because it IS pricey (justifiable for a local biz to an extent) as this may not be practical for feeding a family at home on many budgets striving to get more omega 3's and eat healthier. And im unsure if they accept EBT as the option isn't listed at the shop. My advice? Go in bouts whether that's enjoying a lunch or picking up some good local coffee for that Saturday morning at home or even a kombucha for settling your tummy! It's worth it. You're worth it!
