They helped with baiting the hooks, unhooking the catches, cleaning the fish, and providing unparalleled entertainment. We couldn't have asked for a better day on the water, the fish were biting and the weather was absolutely perfect. The captain kept putting us right on the fish and we ended the trip with plenty to bring to a restaurant for a hook and cook dinner. I can't recommend this place enough, the price is right and the people running it and keeping it going are great. The captain even let us know when a pod of dolphins were nearby so we could enjoy seeing them! Such an unexpected and great bonus to the day! It is BYOB if you want, but onboard they do have some beverages and snacks for purchase (cash only on board), but we brought our own which worked out well. Tickets can be purchased with debit or credit cards, but cash on board is king for drinks/snacks, tips, and fish cleaning so make sure to bring some cash for your day on the water! If you're in the middle keys and want a great value for a fishing trip without a full charter, this is the best there is and totally worth it.

The bite was very slow all around, but more importantly we felt like they weren't putting in any effort. Asked around and everyone we talked to said they heard they have really went down hill. We went on another boat out of Islamorada last month and the boat limited out super early and everyone went home happy. Sad to say, we're retiring our tradition of going out on the Marathon Lady every year for our anniversary trip.

But the 2nd day the fish spit out all of the hooks. Do not risk having just one day and end up being like that. All fishing levels are welcomed by Wayne. We had our whole family with us including a 10-year-old who had never caught a fish before. Captain DD made it his mission to change that and he absolutely did. He was patient, encouraging and completely dialed in. By the end of the trip our son had an unforgettable first fishing experience and was hooked. What stood out most was how intentional DD was with each of us. My husband, our adult disabled daughter, our ten year old and our oldest adult son and I all had different expectations and he worked hard to make sure every single person got what they wanted out of the trip. He is warm, personable and clearly an expert. You can tell he knows exactly what he's doing and takes real pride in delivering a great experience. We were initially unsure if four hours would feel long but the time flew by. Our only regret is not booking a full day, haha. And it didn't even end when we got back to the dock. Captain DD took pictures of us with all our fish cleaned all fish while we watched pelicans line up for scraps, then sharks showed up and started going for the guts. It turned into this wild, up-close show that you just can't plan or get anywhere else. At one point the captain was hand feeding a massive fish right out of the water to a ginormous fish.
