Excellent dishes. The tofu was fried to perfection. The ground pork gravy added flavor and another layer of texture. The eggplant was prepared similarly, it was easy to forget I was eating eggplant! The Shrimp with salted egg was crispy, salty with rich asian flavors. My family thoroughly enjoyed the beef noodle soup with savory beef broth and tender meat. Would love to visit again and try other dishes AND order our favorites!

Don't let the exterior strip mall appereance fool you because it's very nice, clean and well appointed. Very authentic. While I didn't order the tripe and intestines they are on my list the next. Before I go that far, I had to check out the food. Okay that's next I order the lunch special kung pao, egg drop soul and egg roll for 14.99. The soup was oily, and different. It was really pleasant the kung pao... Marvolus!

We stopped at Cate Zone on Thanksgiving and it could not have been a better decision. The service was warm, fast, and genuinely kind, and every dish came out hot and fresh. The star of the meal was the cumin lamb. Bold and fragrant, incredibly tender, and packed with flavor, it was one of those dishes I could not stop reaching back for. Meanwhile, the potstickers were such a hit that you would have had to pry them out of my daughter's hands. The pork rib stew was rich and comforting, especially over a bowl of rice, and the beef brisket noodles were deeply savory and satisfying. Honestly, everything on the table delivered. Cate Zone absolutely nailed our Thanksgiving meal, and we will definitely be back.

I'd heard a lot of great things about Cate Zone, but our experience was a little lack luster. We stopped in for dinner on a weekday and were seated quickly, then our drinks came out quickly as well. For a weekday, it was pretty busy, but the atmosphere was nice and enjoyable. Once we ordered our food and got it at our table, our server didn't come back once to check on us, but given how busy they were, the mau have been overwhelmed. Would have loved to order more beer if we had the chance! The food was good. The kung pao chicken was our favorite dish and had lots of flavor. The salt and pepper calamari had a great crunch and to it, but could have used more seasoning. It was a little bland. The cold steamed chicken dish was good too, I really liked the spicy sauce served with it as it gave the chicken a nice depth of flavor. The portion sizes were great for the price. We had plenty to take home and eat for leftovers!

Newer location, same great food! More indoor seating than their original location, updated decor with relaxed atmosphere. Service is friendly and prompt. Enjoyed their Lunch Special offerings for $14.99pp including entree, rice, egg or spring roll and soup of the day. Overall, 4.0 rated experience for food quality, efficient service and casual ambience. Today we enjoyed the lunch specials of Kung Pao Chicken and Stir Fried Pork with Dried Bean Curd (a fave we've had at dinner); a good meal value to get an entree of choice, cup of soup plus either an egg roll or spring roll. Both were tasty and good portion size for lunch; we shared our dishes plus took leftovers home. The Kung Pao Chicken wasn't as spicy as we prefer, so asked for extra side red pepper chili oil to add some "heat". We also ordered a side dish of Chinese Mixed Vegetables (served cold); this is a unique dish of fresh cucumber with chinese vegetables and tofu in a special sauce (sweet and vinegary) - another specialty which is a go-to anytime we dine at CZ. If you're looking for some authentic Chinese cooking, stop by and try the foods at Cate Zone. ENJOY!!

Love love love Cate Zone. I tell everyone from out of town to come here. As an avid frequenter of the UCity location, I was pumped when this location first opened. This location is a bigger space with a more modern feel. The food here is absolutely spectacular and perfect for sharing family style. A couple of my favorite dishes are the Hot Crisp Fish, Chengdu Spicy Chicken, Mala Tofu, Eggplant, Cumin Lamb, Bok Choy, Green Beans, and the House Special Stir Fried Noodles. Id recommend choosing a couple meat focused entrees and pairing it with a vegetable. Every friend I've brought here has enjoyed the food. Would recommend!

Food is very standard. Big portions... very busy during Christmas Eve. Ready to wait if u go peak time. Crowded... with a lot of to go orders too. The restaurant should stop to go order since kitchen is busy.. we waited 40 minutes to get the table and waited a bit for the food. Overall it is good food with reasonable price. Interesting characters decorating around the restaurant. Service is on point.

My favorite place as of right now! This is their second location (I've been to both, the other is in University City on Olive) and it's so spacious! I hosted a friend's birthday party here and called ahead. We brought about 25 people and they accommodated every single one. The service is fast, the food is hot and delicious. My favorite thing on their menu is the Hot Crisp Fish. It's a numbing spice and I've warmed up to it and enjoy it so much! Can't wait to keep coming back to try the whole menu! Pictured is the Salt & Pepper shrimp which you can order with or without the head, Hot Crisp Fish which they also have a boiling fish that I want to try! And the Cumin Lamb with Cilantro (also yummy).

All my Chinese friends in St. Louis know that when you're looking for authentic Chinese food, Cate Zone is the place to go. We tried out their newer location in Chesterfield and appreciated their huge tables since we had a group of 13 people. We ordered banquet style and my favorite entrees were the fried green beans, eggplant dish, and mala tofu. They're known for their Szechuan boiling fish which is super spicy but you can always ask for a milder level of spice!

I've been a few times to the newer Cate Zone location in Chesterfield and I will say that it is a much better experience than the one in Olive. The new location is spacious and has plenty of parking, so it is great for larger parties too. We ordered a bunch of dishes, but I especially enjoy the hot crisp fish and the Szechuan spicy shrimp (we eat it with the shell though so it might not be for everyone). The braised pork belly with noodles, sliced beef with enoki mushroom in spicy broth, and fish fillet in wine sauce were also hits for great flavor and really tender (especially the pork belly). My sister particularly enjoys the sweet and sour pork traditional style which does not use a ketchup base and is much tastier in our opinion. They did mess up our order this time but were great about fixing it quickly. Overall, the Chesterfield location tends to give larger portions and has a much more spacious atmosphere than the Olive location. I look forward to being back! Note: A few of the dishes are different between the Chesterfield and Olive location, so something to just be aware of!

I like this location over the university city location. It's more spacious. The food comes out super fast. Cumin lamb is probably one of my favorites along with the sweet and sour pork. Oneo of my favorite Chinese places in town

New location in Chesterfield! I actually like this location a whole lot better because: More spacious More parking Convenient location Food is the same as the location in U City! If you like the tingling, numb sensation on your tongue, this is the place to go! Recommend ordering one item with the szechuan peppers and order a lot of items without it. If you eat too much of the peppers, eventually everything starts tasting the same, so definitely eat something else with it. The service was great! The restaurant is still very clean because it's new!

Excellent "Northern Chinese" cuisine featuring many dishes you won't find elsewhere in St. Louis. Service was prompt and efficient. Staff was friendly but didn't make much small talk... all business! Nice and clean inside with modern decor. Menu features lots of pictures and recommendations which I appreciated. Drink menu was very sparse with only a couple beer options. What we ordered: - spring rolls (4/5): Absolutely scrumptious. - crispy dumplings / pot stickers (4/5): Seemed hand made and very tasty. - Cumin Lamb With Cilantro (4/5): smelled wonderful and tasted excellent with some nice lamb flavor and rich cilantro forward sauce coating the food. A bit on the heavy side. - crispy sautéed pork (3.5/5): Tasty sauce. Batter and pork was a bit heavy, but it was fried. It is what it is! - pepper beef (4.5/5) This was fantastic. Best bite of the night. - white rice (3/5): nothing special. Just ok. Come check the out! -

We ordered the cumin beef, twice cooked pork, beef noodle soup, fish in chili oil, and also a beef pho (not pictured because we started eating it right away). The twice cooked pork was my favorite. Really flavorful pork belly with leeks and chili, a little smoky from the wok, and perfect with rice. I'd go back just for that dish. The cumin beef was also great -- lots of cumin and spices with crispy bits of beef. The fish in chili oil came in a huge bowl packed with dried chilies, garlic, and peppercorns. Definitely spicy but really good if you like Sichuan-style dishes. The beef noodle soup was comforting and hearty, and the beef pho was solid too -- good broth and a big bowl. It's a pretty casual setup since it's inside the grocery store, but the food is legit and the portions are generous. Definitely worth stopping by if you're already at Pan Asia or craving something spicy
