Catfish Hut has been an institution in this area for over 30 years. It has changed hands since the original owner, but the current ones have hit the ground running, serving the original menu and adding some interesting specialty items as well. Back in the 70s and early 80s, many catfish joints featured the "trip to the salad bar," and Catfish Hut honors that old tradition with a well-stocked selection of fresh greens and fixings, with Cole slaw also. Our favorite remains the small catfish fillet. The fish is always crispy and hot, well seasoned and not too salty. The French fries are hot and well seasoned, and most importantly, Catfish Hut still serves hushpuppies! You would think that it place called Catfish Hut would serve catfish. Wrong! My fish was overcooked, underseasoned Swai. Oysters the size of quarters, tasteless frozen shrimp and stuffed crab. Very pricey for what you get is an understatement. Never again, ever. read more

I ordered the Small Catfish dinner with fries, it comes with a small salad of shredded lettuce, a couple bits of Cucumber, a few pieces of tomato and dressing of choice. Cost of the dinner was $12.99 plus another $3 for my drink. The Catfish was of a farm raised frozen and factory breaded type. You get one whole fillet cut in half, the meat of the fish was mushy, while the costing was rubbery and tasteless (thankfully there was hot sauce to add flavor). There might have been 12 fries on the plate. I was very disappointed in the overall meal. Service was mediocre at best. We seated ourselves, waited for about 5 minutes to order our drinks and another 10 minutes before they took our order. Place was Not busy at all! I can understand why the parking lot was about empty. This will be our last visit here. Definitely not worth the money. read more

While I realize this restaurant is under new management, I have to say, what was an old favorite is now a one and done. With a busy restaurant, it only took about 10 minutes to be seated. It went down hill from there. Evidently our area had no wait staff because over an hour later it was our turn to place our order. We were told, right off the bat, there were no baked potatoes. No big deal even though I do not like fries. 40 minutes later, our order arrived, and I'll admit I ordered thin and crispy but the rest of the table ordered regular fried fish. It was all so dry and very unappetizing. It honestly looked and felt as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp much too long. It was dried up. To top it off, 4 tables, yes 4, that came in after us were seated, received their food in under 10 minutes, and all had baked potatoes. I can honestly say it was THE WORST $104 fish dinners we had all ever had. We will not be back. read more

went to the hut last night 11/7/21 and the salad bar is closed due to covid, but salad was not bad even though the server made it, the reason for the two star (that's being generous) is the fish. they still serve equal portions, but, i don't believe the fish is American farm raised catfish but some cheaper catfish or substitute from overseas. it is indeed tough and chewie. a lot of restaurant's in Leesville are doing the same and i understand catfish is close to ten dollars a pound but a person pays a prime price wants a prime product. they still have the sign for Simmons Chatfish Farm In Mississippi but i just don't believe that where their fish comes from. read more

Fish was over fried and breading was tough. Definitely not worth the money. Fries are fries and iceberg lettuce is basic. Won't be going back. This used to be the premiere place to get get fried fish. read more

I have loved the thin and crispy catfish from Catfish Hut for as long as I can remember. My family and I went last night. It's been a couple years since I've gone because I've moved away. The salad bar was very small with few options. My catfish was delicious as usual but other items were pretty bad. My sister ordered regular catfish and it had a really bad taste so she couldn't eat it. The oysters were not good, and I love fried oysters. The restaurant wasn't nearly as busy as I remember it being on a typical Saturday night so I can only assume that our less than satisfactory food was not a fluke. Hopefully they can get back to the way it used to be. read more

The salad bar is really delicious. I'll admit this is the only reason I enjoy going to this restaurant. The seafood is usually good but I've been there when everything was overcooked. Unfortunately the portion sizes seem to have gotten smaller and the flavor has suffered. I believe everyone continues to go because of the occasional hints of its' better years. One of the best places around Polk. Very clean and friendly. Proportions were quite large. The patrons were quite good looking.

Wanted to give this place another chance after a bad experience. Walking in the door I already could tell it was a mistake. The staff were sitting at a table in the middle of the room with their phones and tablets out relaxing and conversing across the room loudly with customers. We seated ourselves to a sticky table and greasy menus. The cook miscounted the number of fish and my son had to wait for two of his three pieces. How do you miscounted three???? The shrimp I had were not cleaned properly and with every bite I had to spit shell out. My fish tasted like a fish smells, which is never a good thing. To be honest, this was probably the worst trip to the Catfish Hut I can ever remember. The table was dirty, still covered with crumbs and peanut hull trash. The peanuts were 90% gone and mostly empty hulls in the basket. The menu had peant hull inside of them. The plates were smaller than they used to be and had about 15 fries with my fish, amd most of those were bottom of the bag pieces and hard. Fish was fine, a high point but the 1 hush puppy was so greasy it soaked through 2 napkins. I've had better at the hut but this was the worst. read more

Restaurant was very clean and the servers were very friendly. It is a great place to take your family. But the fish batter is partially rolled in flour. It's not fully corn meal and I don't care for that. read more
