We had our original venue cancel on us with less than 24 hours' notice. We called Cathedral Oaks and spoke with Allison. She was AMAZING!!!! She met us at the Magnolia House in less than 30 minutes. She was incredibly patient with us as we discussed how to make it work and how to address the cost between the families. We occupied quite a bit of her time on a day she wasn't expecting us. She helped us secure the bartender, table cloths (because we planned rectangular tables and now had round ones), and security. We left her a little after 3, and she had the area set up for our rehearsal scheduled at 5 that same day. The wedding turned out beautifully. Magnolia House should have been our original venue, as things turned out even better than we had originally planned. I cannot recommend Allison and Cathedral Oaks enough. read more

cathedral oaks is very unprofessional!!! do not trust them when they tell you they care about military. my husband is getting deployed and they wouldn't give us a refund to cancel! we booked almost 2 years in advance. allison wolfe said "we could change the date but we dont even have to do that!" she was very disrespectful and a liar!!! treated my family very poorly and disrespected my father in law. do not truct cathedral oaks in belton!! the worst wedding venue i have ever been too! the are liars and will scam you! they dont care about military at all!!! read more

I paid Cathedral oaks in Belton, TX $1200+ up front for our wedding venue, wedding to be held in August. I only had to pay the deposit, but trying to be responsible, we paid in FULL, with no idea what was to come. Now, we're greatly regretting our decision to pay them in full. We reached out to Cathedral oaks concerning our wedding & planning. I cannot get a dress or a fitting for a dress with everything being shut down. I cannot plan with decorators, I cannot plan with a restaurant for catering. I cannot spend the money that we do have left, on something as selfish as a wedding dress. At this point, Will had lost his current job and was quickly searching to begin a new career with a new company to support our family. I have had my work hours cut as well & even with filing for unemployment, I have been denied for unemployment & as most Texans know, there is no way to reach someone at the workforce commission to speak with and find out how I can receive help. Upon reaching out to Cathedral oaks, they informed us that we were "in a contract" and that they do not issue refunds within 6 months of your wedding date, per our contract. If I were outside of my 6 month window, they would offer only a partial refund, but we are not outside of 6 months so they'll give us nothing. I can transfer my wedding to a date WITHIN 2020, but there's no guarantee I will be back to full employment at that point, plus trying to recoup all lost wages and catch up on bills that are now behind, finances, etc. it would be so financially irresponsible, that there's no way I could swallow that pill and risk my sons' wellbeing again for something as selfish as splurging on 1 day, a wedding. I was then told they could transfer our wedding date to 2021 but only HALF the money we paid them will transfer... so I just give away over a thousand dollars to them for free... COVID-19 global pandemic was NOT in my contract. Even my car insurance company came back and said that they're returning unused money to its customers to combat the financial crisis happening right now. Losing jobs, wages, income, during uncharted territory, fear & ever amounting debt, a wedding that Will & I are solely financing ourselves is selfish & impossible during this time. But yet this company, that I DID NOT HAVE TO PAY is refusing to help those customers that are directly impacted financially & emotionally. A wedding that is supposed to be the happiest day in our lives together has turned into a complete nightmare. There is nothing else we can do & they're refusing to help. Any advice, concerns or tips would be greatly appreciated. Get the word out, because this is not only breaking my heart, it's making me sick to my stomach daily as I sit here knowing I could keep my family and young sons afloat with that money that I didn't have to pay them. I went to Cahtedral Oaks last weekend for my brother's wedding. and I was a bridesmaid. and I wouldn't have another event at Cathedral oaks. The bartender(Who's name was Joey) was very unprofessional. We had a lot of alcohol that was bought for the wedding and the bartender didn't serve the wine for dinner(which was bought for dinner), the champagne(for the toast) and left the Keg alone. he and the other bartender had a tip jar going and had set up and venmo account set up(which you don't do at a wedding) he was asked to take it down and Joey got supper pissed off. we had to take all of the alcohol home. The coordinator(Skyer Stewart) wasn't any better. When you asked a question she would make you feel dumb. Skyler didn't make sure Joey the bartender served the Wine for dinner, or the champagne(for the toast). She didn't make sure that the bridesmaids and groomsmen remembered the order of how we were to exit after the ceremony. instead of wearing something nothing, she wore just a t shirt and leggings. she was totally full of herself. When the bridesmaids got there we noticed the whole venue smelt like curry. and it wasn't just to one party of the venue. it was the whole venue. it took 8 hours to air out. it was really nauseating. During a pandemic this venue is treating couples awful. One couple paid in full then venue, not just deposit. They were told no monies would be refunded even though they are able to have a wedding. They were then told only half of the monies would go to rescheduling the wedding if rescheduled for 2021! People have lost jobs and family members during this time. One week ago today our daughter was married at Cathedral Oaks. We had previous experience with Brittany and Lauren because our parents 50th wedding anniversary party was held at the Magnolia House venue. Words cannot describe how wonderful our entire experience was with Cathedral Oaks and these two ladies. A wedding and all the planning can be very stressful but these two kept everything calm and under control. With recent rain, our plans of an outdoor wedding had to be moved indoors but Cathedral Oaks is as beautiful and magnificent indoors as it is outdoors. I've debated on leaving a rating for this venue and decided it may actually help someone that is on the fence for choosing this venue. Cathedral Oaks was fairly responsive until the day of our wedding. When we arrived at the venue we realized that the sound system was not working. We tried calling all points of contacts that we had and received NO response from management. Management NEVER reached out - Even after the wedding was over to explain what happened. Management was at the venue for maybe 30 minutes then mysteriously disappeared and was not seen for the remainder of the day. Thank God my DJ has experience in AV. He was able to go to the rack where the equipment was stored and somehow managed to get music to play. Mind you, the music honestly sounded terrible. Especially in the actually venue. You couldn't hear the artists singing, just the music and bass. On top of that, the officers on site were extremely rude and off putting to guests. The were overly strict on alcohol. We only had beer and wine served at the wedding and the officers were making guests wait an hour after drinking 2 beers. The cups we purchased for the beer were not even an actual serving size!! We actually ended up with 3 FULL kegs because of how overly strict the officers were. My experience with Cathedral Oaks was not at all what I had hoped for. I would have definitely considered other options if I would have known how unresponsive management would be on one of the biggest / most important days of my life. read more

My sister and her husband used this place as their wedding venue in early January 2013. It was a very gorgeous location! The outside was perfect for the "First Look" photos and group photos with family and the wedding party. We had a nice room (bridal suite) & multiple buildings (for the groomsmen). One building was great for the rehearsal dinner, while we had the ceremony in another building that was adequately sized to accommodate all the guests. We had the reception in the same room as the ceremony, but we were all able to step out & into another room (& some on the back porch) while the staff got the room ready for us. It was a wonderful & beautiful place, & the staff were friendly & helpful. I would keep them in mind for other events that I wanted to have in the Waco area. read more

So my husband and I had our wedding in 2018 here. We booked it about six months before our wedding date because we had been looking for a while and couldn't find what we needed. We fell in love with the beautiful landscaping and trees and the building was very nice. They tried to sell us at first on the magnolia house, which is a old building that smells like it's age and was very small. We told them we didn't really care for it because it didn't fit our needs. They still tried pushing it on us, giving the feeling like we couldn't afford the other one. However, we informed them we were willing to pay for the bigger cathedral building and it had the space we needed. So we booked and payed for the space. After about two weeks, we realized that half of the people we thought were coming could not make it, my husbands family coming from Connecticut, so we decided to cancel it because it would be a little large for my family who would come. We were then told if you don't cancel before 6 months that you do not get your money back. This was new to us, because we weren't told that, and being we booked it under six months that left us stuck. But we had no choice so we stayed. The day before the wedding, we realized we needed a little time to prepare because it would be hard to do the day of, so we contacted them to see if we could come the night before to see if we could set a few things up since no one had any event there that night or at the other venue. That was another $200 for two hours. The day of the wedding, everything seems to be going ok, I'm fixing to walk down the aisle, as the doors had just opened, and the power goes out. Obviously I'm embarrassed because it goes completely dark and I'm standing in the doorway, everyone staring at me and I'm, along with everyone else, am dumbfounded. We close the doors and ask what happened and we're told that somebody crashed into a telephone/electrical pole in Belton, that caused a fire and caused the power to go out. They have no generators, which makes no sense seeing as how much you're paying them for just one day ($5000), and then we ask what is going to happen now. They say we can move the wedding outside, which it's 100 degrees out seeing as its towards the middle of August and it's 4 in the afternoon so that's not helping the situation at all. Then we ask what kind of compensation will happen because it's almost two hours of no power and we we're told since it was an act of God there's nothing they can or will do. How someone having an accident that started a fire is an act of God I'll never know. We asked could we at least get the $200 back from the previous night since that was about the time of power we didn't have and they firmly said no. Eventually the power comes on and we continue but our guests our sweating and food and drinks are melted or turned cold due to no power. Lastly, my husband talks to the officer who is supposed to be the security guard because he's interested in being an officer, the cop tells him that they're only receiving about $50 to come and attend the wedding, yet we spent about $200 for the security. My family felt very uncomfortable with the owner, who seemed unwilling to make any kind of amends or apologize for what happened and, to be honest, I don't know if it is because we were black because I don't see many black couples or interracial couples getting married here, but when things happened that I felt should have been addressed she refused to and it has taken me a while to write this review but I felt it needed to be said. For larger groups the main building is elegant, spacious, and fully equipped for any function while the Magnolia House is perfect for smaller or more intimate events. The management has been horrible to work with. Adding restrictions leading up to the wedding day and then mandating a change to our agreed upon plan the morning of the wedding....talk about throwing things into a whirlwind. Words can not really describe how we feel towards this place on a day that is supposed to be one of the best of your life. Be warned you mostly likely won't get what you thought you were getting. My sister and her new husband has there wedding here over labor day weekend. The venue is a wonderful place to have a wedding or any event for that matter. However like another review says the management was absolutely no help. During set up she was no where to be found and the entire time she was on the property she was on her phone for personal calls that when we asked questions she would seem like we were interrupting her and were a bother. When the plugs blew on half the building we got her voicemail because she was on another call I'm sure. We never even got help getting them back on up for the event. We had to shuffle around the room to find plugs that worked. The tables as mentioned did not match because we had to find our own to fix her mistake. Before the event I asked her to turn up the volume on the outside of the building for the event and drop the volume inside we could hear outside and anyone inside would not be blown out of the building and I was met with "NO that's not something we do you just need to make sure you adjust your equipment to work with ours" So like other reviews the venue is amazing and if they had better management I would use them again but at this point myself my brother and the rest of our family would never use the place again. read more
