Awful...just awful. A HUGE waste of $50. My steak sandwich had NO flavor and was inedible. The steak was so tough and grisly I couldn't chew it and the bread was sopping wet. My side salad was just lettuce, 1 piece of onion and a bunch of chickpeas. The chicken wings were undercooked, flabby and over sauced. I have just been twice in one week the first experience I ordered nachos and requested specific items on it and no jalenpenos but we got them so returned and at this point it was so loud I couldn't hear myself think so I asked them to box up all the food we would take home. got it home and this time no chicken which I paid extra for so I called and they did tell me the next time in I would get another one. so yesterday July 10 I went and we had a party of 4 and they didn't bring out my bruschetta bread so I didn't get it. on other person ordered half nachos and there was no black beans on it. so I will give them 1 more chance and it's like 3 strikes and you are out. the food is delicious read more

I've lived in the neighborhood for 30 years and have always considered Cat's as a go to for Great food and better value. The manager is very friendly and extremely hard working. Came to this restaurant with my friend. It has been one of our faves. We sat down and ordered. Our waitress at that point was cordial but very busy as it was packed. Midway through our meal I politely ordered some wings. She didnt ask how we wanted them nor did I tell her. After a few minutes I realized my omission and approached her at the waitress station. I stated that I couldnt remember if I had told her how I wanted the wings and that I wanted them medium. She tersely replied, "Thats how I ordered them." I said thank you and went to sit down. We continued eating our meal. She then came to our table and proceeded to take away my companions plate --- while he was still eating!!! and I stated as such to her. She didnt like that. When we finished eating I asked for the bill. She returned to our table and slammed the bill on the table. She was being very aggressive. Offended, I picked up the bill. She then said "Why are you such a f*****g bitch. My companion and I were stunned!! I had simply asked for the bill. I told her that she needed to leave our table. I asked her more than once to do so. She finally left and then circled back a few minutes to later to continue to call me slurs and names, calling me an entitled bitch? . I saw that she was out of control and started to head to talk to management. she recognized this and pushed past me and then I pushed past her. Did I mention that everyone could hear her? She would not allow me to tell my story. She was stating that I was calling her names. I was not. I was careful to keep my voice low. I was already embarrassed. She then proceeded to yell loudly that I was drunk! Further embarrassing me. Another table also had a complaint about her. This place is fantastic! I've been in the hospitality industry for over 25 years and this team is fabulous! My aunt has lived across a the street for years and whenever family would come to visit her cats is the go to place! I've heard about this place over all these years but with my work schedule I was never able to come up to enjoy it with family! Sadly my aunt has dementia now and I'm her care giver and we go into cats every other day! My first experience was with Jill behind the bar and she literally set the bar for me! My next experiences were then with Grace, Emma, Julia, Jessica, Ashley, Matt behind the bar and of course that bearded man Kostas! The teamwork is consistent and the food portions are great value for the price! I've been making my way through the menu every other day since it's walking distance and a happy place for my aunt who has dementia and can't thank the team for being so wonderful with her and our family! Came here a couple times and ordered off the 8 for $8 express lunch menu. It's a cozy country style bar with lots of seating. Appreciate the short wait time but I wasn't impressed by any of them and it would take two of those meals to fill me up. I tried the buffalo chicken salad, turkey roast on bread, and California club wrap. The salad was made with iceberg lettuce, cheddar cheese, and half a portion of chicken. Turkey was decent, gravy very starchy and lumpy. There seems to be lots of thought put into the club wrap but I don't particularly like the combo of different sauces in it. And the size was snack like. Overall, I heard this place is great for drinks and food on a Friday or Saturday evening but the lunch menu is disappointing and leaves me still hungry. read more

Pathetic service by Andrea We sat down and gave our order then we waited for Andrea to come back so we could order more drinks, instead we were ignored and had to go to the bar to ask for drinks. Our food is then brought to our table while Andrea was chewing food like some farm animal. Not somewhere to go when you're starving! We went at 11pm cuz it'd be hard to find food elsewhere. I have eaten there and was content of the food or service. Me and my boyfriend walked in. A guy rushed by and said just grad a seat. After we sat down, two females servers plus this guy kept ignoring us for 20 minutes and never said a word to us, not even eye contact. Went with some friends to use the pool table and order from their 5 dollar menu. It took ages just for someone to come take our order, after we had asked politely at the counter. Drinks and food itself were delayed as well, and the waitress did not seem to be in a good mood. We didn't want to be a pain in the ass, but after over 20 minutes of waiting for drinks, she put them on the table and stormed off without a word. Cat's Caboose is a hidden gem in St. Catharines. Great food, lots of tvs to watch sports, and friendly staff to boot! No wonder it is fill most nights with happy customers. The only negative is that I wish they would stop adding straws to their drinks. I watch them go through 100s of straws, when most people do not use them. They should be offered only upon request and do their part to help save the environment. read more

Typical pub food, in large portions. Overall it is fine if you just need somewhere to sit down but I wouldn't really make it a destination. One of my party ended up quite sick after eating the burger with blue cheese... impossible to know if it was the food or something else, of course, but it seems likely. A little bit difficult to find a waiter when you need one, and when the beer arrived it was flat. They replaced it cheerfully however. There is often live music, which is nice, but if you want more quiet there is plenty of room near the back. read more

I love wings and Cat's Caboose has been a go-to spot for me for a number of years. Pros- Cat's claims to be the first restaurant in Canada to sell chicken wings. Being closer to the border, St. Catharines has a number of good spots for authentic buffalo wings and up until recently I would have said that Cat's is the best in the city. Cat's is a cool retro roadhouse-style restaurant with a good atmosphere and friendly service. Good spot for families during the day. Great selection of authentic tavern style menu items. Lots of great live music too on the weekends. Cons- The last two times I've gone the wings have been inconsistent. They used to serve an excellent, authentic, buffalo-style hot wing but recently the wings have had a bit more a BBQ flavour to them and haven't been hot at all. I thought the first time might have been an anomaly but the second time they were exactly the same. Salad wasn't super fresh either. Definitely an older crowd there too. Not so much an issue during the day but at night if you're not a baby boomer you'll probably be one the youngest people in there. They have a lot of good live music but, if you're not there for the music, it can get a little loud. Summary- It's might be the best spot in the city for good tavern food but seems to be getting a little more inconsistent with the quality. read more

The food use to be great, until about half a year ago. I've ordered fish and chips three times, and each time the fish was under cooked and so was the batter. They did, however fix my order and cooked the fish properly. For the price you pay for a beer and fish and chips, I'm sure there's other places that serve better quality fish. The cats caboose is a pretty friendly pub. It's very welcoming. The atmosphere isn't dingy or have a hole in the wall feeling but it isn't upscale or snooty either. It's a very typical pub feel but in a good way. It's what you'd think it is - no surprises but it's what you're looking for, a place to just hang out and grab some drinks and food after work or after school. The food is typical pub food, though there are some missing dishes that most pubs have. Their portions are large, although none of the food is to die for or outstanding or anything to go out of your way for - if you're there you'll be happy with your meal but you won't necessarily remember it a few days from then. The server notices are attentive and notice when your cup is getting low (beer or otherwise) and will ask if you need a drink which not every place will take notice of.
