While staying in the area I looked at reviews for something decent and came across this place - Getting there around noon on a weekday, they were rather busy, so I sat at the bar and within a few minutes it was completely packed at the bar. Service from the bartender was great. He offered up some suggestions, which I needed because they have a large menu loaded with so many appetizing and amazing looking options. I started with their potstickers... They came out with a hard, fried shell and the dipping sauce went nicely with them. Enough to share, or even enough to enjoy and still have room for an entrée. My main dish was their Chicken & Waffle. This isn't some ordinary chicken and waffle, it's definitely an amped up version, made with unique and interesting ingredients, culminating in great flavors! The chicken was so large and very tender - it was amazing! The bacon and sauce on top went with it nicely, and the chive waffle was great with it! Each bite was definitely amazing! Came here for a work lunch and it was pretty busy with a large party, but everything still ran smoothly. Service was solid, and our server was clearly experienced and well-rehearsed. The burgers and handhelds sounded amazing, but I decided to go a bit lighter and ordered the Sweata Weatha salad. "Lighter" didn't mean lacking in flavor at all. I got the dressing on the side and didn't even need it. There were so many great mix-ins and textures--the balsamic drizzle added a nice tang, the almond slivers gave it crunch, the blueberries were juicy, and the fried cheese curds were creamy and absolutely heavenly. I left feeling satisfied without that heavy, sluggish feeling, which is always a win. My only regret? Not ordering dessert to go. That PB trifle is still calling my name an hour later... good thing I've got Reese's at home to satisfy that chocolate peanut butter craving. read more

So we came from SanDiego and the car rental agent recommended this spot. Ordered the calamari and beef on weck and the smoked Gouda pasta . Well first came the Calamari seriously the smallest portion of calamari I've ever been served for that price a complete ripoff. Never had a beef on weck and probably never will again nope not for us. Then there was the smoked cheesy pasta my daughter got that was like $30 . She was struggling to finish it not because there was alot but because she didn't like it. After shopping for deals at the outlet mall, we were hungry and looking for somewhere new to try. The Griffon Gastropub was the winner! Just down the street from the mall, we were seated right away. Interior is on the darker side. Love the tin ceiling. The menu provides a good variety. A few items are on the pricey side. Our server was Allison. She was great! My daughter had the chicken and waffles, my husband had a Griffon burger and I had a salad with mixed greens and grilled chicken. As a starter we had the Mexican street corn dip. Phenomenal mac n cheese We stopped here for lunch. I ordered the mangia steak sandwich and upgraded to gluten free smoked Gouda shells and cheese. I'm sooo happy I made that upgrade because the mac n cheese was incredible. The steak sandwich was ok. I think the dish was overall a little too dry for my liking. I probably wouldn't order it again. My fiancé ordered the OG chicken sandwich and he enjoyed it. We took the caramel apple cheesecake to go. It was alright, a lot more bland than I expected. After returning from a cold walk around Niagara Falls, we decided to check out this establishment per a strangers recommendation. Wow we did not get a chance to have a waterfall view, the food, service, and ambience more than made up for it. Our server was very kind, welcoming, and attractive to our needs. She made great recommendations based on popular items and our food choices. All 3 entrees were phenomenal and exceeded our expectations. The braised sirloins that were cooked medium rare came out tender and had a smokey aroma, not dry at all. Stopped by on a Friday night and got the Cajun Crunch fish fry that is only served on Fridays. The fish was delicious and was served with Miami Spice fries which also were delicious !!! Although it was crazy busy - every seat, booth, and barstool was taken - the bartenders were friendly and efficient. More than once I saw them remember the drink preferences for the regulars. Holy crap. We went here for lunch today and none of us had any idea that we were actually here for dinner almost exactly 9 years ago. That was right before Donald was elected president. Good times. Sheesh. We arrived just before the rush. As before, the menu was great. And truth be told, what mainly brought me here is their standing in Yelp, currently with about 4.5 stars based on well over 1,000 reviews. That's a really strong standing. The service wasn't great, in that they could have actually used another person in the front of house when things got busy, but the food came out promptly and nicely done. I loved the Mexican Street Corn Dip even with all the cheese... I actually licked my little plate afterward, and I never have the cojones to do that in restaurants. I honestly wasn't thrilled with the Smoked Gouda Shells. They really hyped it up on the menu, saying something like "regular Mac & Cheese will be too boring for you after this." I added some crab cake to it for $9 more, in total cost like $31... I don't think it was worth that. The wife had a Ceasar Salad which was served as a whole chunk of lettuce that she needed to cut up, along with the other ingredients. I would honestly have hated that, but she specifically said she liked the presentation, and had it that way before. My big girl had some Rangoon that she says she liked for the most part ("far from the best I've had but it was alright") but she really liked the vegan smash burger. That thing had TWO patties on it. Looked fantastic. The men's bathroom was kind of funny in that you're kind of trapped in this skinny stall if you need to take a crap. Definitely not for folks who suffer from claustrophobia (or who are severely overweight)... if that's the case, take a dump before you leave the house... but by all means, this is a cool place to try. This was a must on my list of places to eat during our visit to Niagara. We took an uber from our hotel and ate here on Tuesday evening. Service was good and friendly. I ordered the chicken tenders & fries and my mom had the duck wings and sweet potato fries. Literally the best sweet potato fries I've ever had!!! So delicious. Chicken tenders were a HUGE portion and pretty delicious and the fries were just ok. My mom really enjoyed the duck wings as well. Plastered on the walls was AI generated photos, I understand that each of these represented one of their beers, but it felt very cheap to use as decor, and it made me feel weird. Went about 5 pm on a Sunday, not busy at all, immediately sat down. The restaurant has low lighting, but wasn't distracting. At the bar area there were several TVs playing different sports. For our food the person I was with got the Chicken Caprese, they absolutely loved it. The gouda mac and cheese was smokey tasting in a good way. The chicken itself was moist and flavorful. I got the O.G. Chicken sandwich with miami fries. The fries were seasoned very well and tasted great. For the sandwich itself the honey chipotle was amazing and I loved it. However, I must have gotten a bad piece of chicken as it had a strange texture that was similar to how fat is. I had to eat the sandwich without it, though the other meal's chicken was fine. This is mostly a typical diner containing most of the usual diner fare with the additon of wild game options. I had an order of the Wild Game Burger. Venison was the featured game meat they have that day. I enjoyed the meat and the gaminess of the flavor. It was not too strong or off-putting. The rest of the burger was also well put together. The crispy onion straws was a welcome touch that adds crunchiness to every bite. Under Creative Entrees, we tried Just the Tips (prime angus reserve steak tips) paired with yukon gold mashed potatoes. It all came together with a good serving of the mashed potatoes cradling the pieces of steak tips which was drizzled with some creamy white sauce and sliced green onions. The steak could have been just a little bit more tender for my liking, but it was otherwise fine. The amount of mashed potatoes in the meal was a lot more than the protein and we had a hard time finishing it all. I called for the waitress attention, motioned at the mashed potatoes, and could specifically remember requesting for some gravy to add to the mashed potatoes. She acknowledged this request and left. She came back with 2 dips of sauces which were clearly not gravy. The manner in which she handed off the sauces was also something I am not pleased with. The waitress just dropped off the sauces beside me as I was eating without even acknowledging it and waiting for me to look back up. She then scuttled away after. I asked about it later after trying it and she said they don't serve gravy and those were the sweet (or caramel?) sauces for the steak. Without some gravy or a nice complimentary sauce to the potatoes it made it much harder to finish. The sweet sauces she did give was just OK and does not perfectly compliment the steak tips either. The overall service we experienced was rather disappointing. In addition to the abovementioned affair with the gravy request, and the manner in which it was carried out, there was also another similar issue. We ordered for soft drinks and it was likewise served very curtly. There was no looking up or informing us customers that our order request has now been served. The Griffon Gastropub food were good. But, the quality mirrored what I'd expect at pubs: average. Our server was super sweet so service was great on that aspect. Prices weren't that cheap, but then again it is New York. The homemade chicken tenders were huge. They weren't the size of traditional skinny pieces. It's at least an equivalent of two tenders combined. Ordering x4 pieces were more than enough to share or fill you up. The tenders were really meaty and juicy. You can taste the white meat and all its glory. The outside had a nice light ish buttermilk coating that was a crispy, golden brown as advertised. The garlic parmesan sauce was the best (I'm biased towards cheesy bases). While the gold rush (?) being so so. The beef on weck was a hefty sandwich. Even with the beef being thinly sliced, there was a whole lot of meat. The horseradish helped add a unique layer of flavor. Dipping the sandwich in the au jus was just a mess. It's a good sandwich but it's purely meat on top of meat. The smoked gouda shells & cheese was tasty and somewhat flavorful, but it just didn't give me the wowing effect. I have eaten here dozens of times, and like it more now than initially. Appetizers are pretty good. The fish fry is a good option if you are hungry, and the burgers are always great. I have tried almost every burger but usually opt for burger with all veggies, sweet fries with sauce on the side. They also offer an amazing black and blue salad with bountiful portions (4.5 stars), great ciders available at all pour sizes, very good almond amaretto cake although frosting was inedible (3.5-4) stars) but substandard "cheese curds," (2 1/2 stars) were not Wisconsin style at all (instead of curds, tasted like processed cheese with lots of batter in squares) that brought the overall experience way down. My friends like the poutine but like I said above, I don't love their cheese curds. read more

I had a side of the smoked gouda shells & cheese. It was flavorful and slightly al dente which is how I prefer my pasta. The wife doesn't like al dente. The wife got the 4 chicken tenders. I was surprised at the size of the tenders. The breading was good and not too thick and the chicken itself was juicy. They were probably the best plain chicken tenders I've ever had. I don't know why I even ordered them in the first place. Chicken tenders are one of the most boring foods to order but I think there was a ad in the center of the menu and it was recommended on Yelp or something. The tenders came with two choices of sauces but I wished they gave you more. The tenders are that large. The garlic parmesan sauce was strong and flavorful and the gold rush was just basically honey mustard. Service was good and she apologized for the wait even though there was barely any wait time. We had to take a tender to go just because of the size. Would I come here again? Yes. This is a great local pub with good good food. Get away from the area in front of Niagra Falls. read more
