Our server was really friendly and explained everything to us. I'm not much of a rye whiskey drinker, but I found that I preferred the rye over the regular bourbon. The place also had a relaxed vibe. We came for the gift shop, which sells creative scented candles, bottles of liquor, and other unique items you wouldn't find anywhere else. We stayed and enjoyed a deliciously cheesy pasta dish, heirloom tomato toast, and fantastic cocktails. Our dog enjoyed the visit too as she sat outside with us while we ate. We are glad we stopped at the gift shop to bring a special piece of Callicoon, NY with us. Came here while visiting Calliccoon. The tasting was complimentary and a lot of fun. Beautiful tasting room with lots of little spots to hang out. No food, except for charcuterie and chips so don't stop in expecting to have lunch or dinner. Other than that, really pleasant experience. Tasting was fun, especially loved the Amaro and vodka. Arrived around 715 on a Saturday night. Ordered some food and beverages to enjoy out on their patio. Had we realized, or been informed by the staff that they close at 8 we would have gone elsewhere. After the food arrived they informed us that they close in 20. We felt a little uncomfortable and pressured to hurry along. As for the food it's just ok. Overpriced for what you get. This was a homecoming for us, we fell in love with the Rye a few years back and by way of yelp found out we were only an hour away on a recent trip. We sure as heck made the pilgrimage. Bravo to this young company for delivering a high end and really beautiful shop and restaurant atmosphere (never mind unique tasting room) that offers diversity in dining and high quality spirits as well as local home made goods like honey, syrup, and truffle chocolates. My sisters and I enjoyed our tapas and specialty drinks. Food and drinks very reasonably priced and delicious. It must also be noted that as soon as we walked thru the entrance of this very inviting place (originally a fire house) , we were immediately welcomed by a friendly, professional and engaging host that gave us a history of the store, products and how the business came to be. We had delicious snacks and amazing drinks outside, watching weekenders come into town on the Friday afternoon of Labor Day weekend. It was quite relaxing and the service was amazing. Then we shopped. The store manager (I think Corey? But not sure of his name) was fantastic. We enjoyed talking with him and he was very knowledgeable. The truffles are amazing. My partner and I went to Catskill Provisions while we were in town for an optometry conference. We mistakenly went to the distillery and not the tasting room. The woman we met there was so kind and helpful. Not only did she tell us how to get to the tasting room, she called ahead and let the staff at the tasting room know to expect our arrival. When we got there we receive impeccable service, delicious food and of course enjoyed a few drinks. I don't write reviews - this is my first one. I had to make sure that this level of customer service is acknowledged and celebrated. We arranged to have a 6-person bachelorette party come through the distillery and tasting room. Everyone we spoke with was so helpful and friendly. The charcuterie spread they put out was beyond expectations! You could just tell that they were working hard to make the experience special. We've driven up to Callicoon several times over the years and always admired this black barn building at the corner of the main town. "What is that place?" I always asked my Catskills friends. I got some vague answer that it was a working distillery and not open to the public. This past Labor Day weekend however the building was open and bustling with customers even though the weather was dreary and wet. We didn't have reservations but luckily got seated at a table within 15 minutes (after the owner recognized my friend). This place is a find! Waitress said the restaurant recently opened in May. Too bad I was driving back to the city that day or I would sampled their cocktails or ciders, but their food surprisingly shares the spotlight. After we ordered, the waitress brought a tiny brown paper bag with an amuse bouche to share - rosemary scented salted popcorn that was so delicious I begged the waitress to tell me how they made it. My husband and I ordered the specials, a pork schnitzel sandwich and a Marguerite style puff pastry tart. I initially wasn't enthusiastic about sharing the schnitzel sandwich but after my husband gave me a bite, I changed my mind. The pork schnitzel crust was so light and crispy, not oily at all, pork was tender and tasty and was accompanied by the most perfect slaw. Now I'm not really a fan of cole slaw. But this slaw was perfectly balanced, not sweet, not sour - I could taste something different in that slaw and I think it was the distillery's house made apple cider vinegar (which I bought bottles of before leaving). We devoured our food with cornbread and pigs in a blanket with Wagyu beef. Was too full for dessert but the owner comped house made dark chocolate truffles with honey and rye liquor. When I came in for their soft opening I was intrigued. A big room filled with comfy chairs and elegant areas to sit and taste their alcohol. The dining area was closed because of COVID but they were serving cheese plates and small offerings. Overall a nice feel. Fast forward to this weekend. Somehow the vibe has changed to a more Cracker Barrel feel, you walk in and the front is there store area and the big comfy room is now a large eating area. The room has the pre fabricated farm/country feel. Yes many items in the decor are authentic but seems put together after watching one too many hours of the Magnolia network. While other places are paying homage to this theme correctly this one, no. We enter the place and finally one of the frenzied workers noticed us and gets us a table. She comes back with a small stale bag of popcorn for the table to share and takes our drink only order. 20 minutes later we get our pricey drinks, in small wines glasses we get our $8 ciders. The cider was tastes metallic and not very good. Because it was a hot night we managed to finish our small portions. We ask if they have any dessert and we get a five minute dissertation on the cornbread of how it's sweet because it has honey in it, no that's not dessert stop the hard sell. We then wait another 10 minutes to track down our check even though they are clearly well staffed. One of us finally got up and was able to pay and as we walked out the four of us agreed never to come back. read more

Loved this place! Last time I was here it was still the old firehouse so seeing the renovation was a great surprise. Everyone here is SO friendly, kind and welcoming. We'd been on a super long hike and were famished. We also had the dog with us, so we were expecting to sit outside because of that. But nope - we enquired about a table our front and the server said sit anywhere...including anywhere inside and the pup was more than welcome. So we happily settled in their bar/lounge area - super comfy leather club chairs and a low coffee table - it was heaven. Bloody Mary's were excellent. Water for the pup appeared by magic. And the food was excellent. The menu has plenty of creative items to choose from. When I eat out, I'm always interested in trying something I wouldn't make at home and ingredients that I wouldn't think to put together. We ordered the baked ham and cheese sandwich...it's delicious! The fried egg on top was perfect! Not a bechamel fan and forgot to ask for it on the side but it was pretty good to me. Also ordered the savory puff pastry - and that got a two thumbs up as well! The space is interspersed with gorgeous displays of their own products as well as other perfectly curated items and so we took a stroll around the place. It's truly lovely.
