There are 2 locations of this business. We went to the west location by a friend's recommendation. We were looking to order raw oysters but after talking to our server, Ashley we decided to try the oyster trio. Loved the Rockefeller and Chargrilled but was not crazy about the Elote with the corn and and little spicy. Just a personal preference. We also ordered the Boogie Bombs that were so good with the pepper jelly. For entrees I ordered the Blackened Redfish which come which vegetables and grits. The sauce over the redfish was great! It complemented the Redfish. The only thing that I would improve on would be the grits. They were a little dry. My husband ordered the pepperoni pizza and Ashley recommended the pepper jelly with it. We made a day trip for the Lucky rabbit and searched Yelp for a place to grab lunch. It is a seat yourself restaurant so we chose a table on the wall. The lighting is a bit dim for our old eyes but otherwise it has the feel of a pub. We loved that. Our server was very nice and helpful. We ordered the bacon cheddar fries. The fries are like a cottage fries that are then cut into strips. Perfect fry on them. The bacon could have been crispier but great flavor and a good ranch. I had the KPauls pasta. We all enjoyed it. Pasta cooked perfectly al dente. If you love a saucy pasta this isn't for you. It is nice and creamy but not swimming in it. Big plump shrimp that tasted great. Also has chunks of chicken breast and sliced sausage. Uncle Jim got the red beans and rice. Great flavor but barely warm. The catfish is a thicker cut and battered in a coarsely ground corn meal. Aunt Robin had the shrimp and grits. Those were the star of the show. So creamy and incredible flavor. Very generous amount of nice sized shrimp. Mike had the Keg Stand burger. He requested the sauce on the side. It's definitely a unique flavor. Nice soft bun. The meat was grossly over cooked but would have been tasty had it not been so dry. I really enjoyed my first Keg & Barrel visit. The fried catfish was tasty and fried beautifully. The hubs beef nachos were tasty as well. The staff was friendly and our order came out quickly. We randomly enjoyed the creaky, wooden floors that moved and slightly jostled us as patrons passed by. I stopped by Keg and Barrel in Hattiesburg for lunch for the first time and was really glad I did. I ordered the Keg & Barrel Reuben on marbled rye with a side of their house chips, and my waiter suggested I try the onion dip with the chips -- great call! The Reuben was delicious and piled high, definitely more than I could finish. The chips were fresh, crisp, and perfectly seasoned, and that onion dip took them to the next level -- honestly, the star of the meal. It was a beautiful day, so I grabbed a seat out on the patio, which made the whole experience even better. My sweet tea came just the way I like it, with a lemon wedge, but when I hit the bottom of the glass my waiter was nowhere to be found for a refill. Other than that, service was quick and friendly. It's a little pricey for a sandwich and chips, but the portions are big enough to share or save for later. The food is delightful here and the weather has been perfect lately to sit out on the patio! We ordered the Three Cheese Crab Dip and let me tell you, it was so deliciously cheesy with big chunks or crab in it, and those pita chips were crispy yet somehow miraculously light and fluffy!? I come to Mississippi 2-3 times a year and I always rush to Keg and Barrel, either location. I just so happened to come to the downtown location this time. Service was great. Not too fast, not too slow. Enough time to enjoy your drinks and food without being constantly interrupted. My girlfriend and I got the chicken nachos and the steak frites. The chicken nachos were fine, nothing special about them and my only real complaint was the salsa, pico, and sour cream was on the side. I would have preferred them to have been evenly drizzled on top of the platter. The steak frites is probably the best steak frites you can get for under $30($21)Cooked medium with some pieces more on the medium rare side - which is ideal for my girlfriend and I. the steak itself has a great flavor and I love how they cut their fries. The two dipping sauces they give you are very good as well. The restaurant overall has a nice feel to it. The inside area is quite nice and spacious, but the outdoor area is really special. We are on the way to Florida from Texas and wanted to stop at a pet friendly restaurant. We arrived around lunch, no one greeted or guided us. I happened to see signs, stating to seat yourself. We sat close to the bar outside, which was nice because there were big fans that helped us stay cool. However, we had to figure out how to find a menu and where to order the food. A super place to eat with friends. We had some appetizers; the rest of the gang had some hummus and veggies and little triangles of bread, and they loved it. Holy cow has this place changed over the years! When I walked in (or I should say walked up to the expansive outdoor area), I hardly recognized it. There are now multiple bars (yes, I'm sure everyone else knows this by now, but hey, it's been years and years since I've been here). Huge space to watch the games, can't imagine what it's like during football season! You can catch some local music while you are here as well. Beer Lovers Heaven With Great Food - Downtown Location We were road tripping and happened to visit Hattiesburg just to see what there is to see. Well, Keg & Barrel is a must visit. We went to the downtown location which is a converted 1800's home. The wrap around porch, numerous outdoor decks, patios and comfy interiors offer plenty of options to sit where you prefer. As it was warm during our visit they had numerous fans moving the air and we were very comfortable. We had a great server who made some suggestions so we started with the Boogie Bombs appetizer ($13.00). Five crisp fried balls of pimento cheese about two inches in diameter, drizzled with pepper jelly and sprinkled with green onion. Ooey gooey rich cheesy goodness, sweet heated with the pepper jelly. Man, these were good and we're so glad our server recommended them. My wife ordered the Thai Lettuce Wraps ($13.00). This comes out as a build your own platter with a bowl of chunked up, spiced up (not too spicy) chicken, green onions, carrot shreds and lettuce leaves. Use the lettuce leaves as you would use pita bread or a tortilla to hold all the goodies, then top with the Thai peanut sauce. This was super good with a nice change of pace flavor. I ordered the Fish Tacos ($16.00) with blackened redfish. Three warmed flour tortillas in foil and a generous piece of perfectly perfectly seasoned and cooked redfish were accompanied with lettuce, pico de gallo, black beans, chipotle sour cream and salsa. I used all the toppings along with a squeeze of lime to make three tasty tacos. And let's not forget the main attraction here. I think there are over 60 'live' tap handles on a unique wall display in the bar. Go inside and check it out. It looks like it's just decoration, but it's a fully operational tap wall. Totally cool! Save yourself the agony of having to make a quick decision on the spot and study the beer menu on their website at home to at least have a plan of attack when you arrive. I wish I was close enough to go back often as it really hits all the needs we have. read more
