We stopped here while traveling. We ordered burgers with sides. We waited over an hour for our food to come, and most of it was lukewarm. The person in charge offered one free dessert for our table of four for the slow service (although it did'n't make sense that they couldn't get it out when it was ready!). We declined as we really couldn't afford to waste more of our evening and needed to get back on the road. The ladies bathroom also smelled like a bathroom - not a fresh scent. OMG, it was the best prime rib we've ever had - cooked to perfection, and HUGE - it was a roast! The au jus was perfect with it. Just passing through for a night and had dinner here. Ordered prime rib wish was just ok. It was served without horseradish so I asked for some. It was served raw so I asked for some sour cream to mix it up. The distraught waitress informed me that there would be an extra charge for the sour cream. I agreed to pay. Honestly I've never been served prime rib without horseradish. Then I had to ask for butter for my baked potato, which was so cold by the time the butter arrived that the butter wouldn't melt. When I asked her to microwave my potato she said that she would have to ask permission. Well if the food was served with typical condiments there would be no need to ask for them. We met the grandparents for a late Christmas at a hotel in Mitchell, and because of mobility issues, opted to order in (they use Door Dash). The order arrived without silverware, plates, and the usual items. Also forgotten were salad dressings, tartar sauce, and drinks that came with kids meals. I phoned the restaurant, not expecting (but it would have been appropriate) the delivery of the missing items, but wanted to share the issues. I spoke with a manager who presented me with several excuses and offered no apology. He stated that they don't do a lot of delivery and that they are more of a dine-in restaurant. When visiting their website, the first thing you will see however, is a giant pop-up that reads "Delivery Available - Start your Order!" This manager really just didn't want to hear it, could have cared less, and only encouraged me to like this place less than I already did. With no solution offered, compensation or otherwise, we proceeded to eat steak and baked potatoes with our hands (we didn't try the salads: no dressings): kids, grandparents, and us. Fortunately, thanks to grandpa, we had a pocketknife to share. Really, just a bad experience that any qualified manager could have easily turned around. read more

You can order drinks and wait (or eat) at the bar or take your drinks outside or to the entry area. We had stuffed mushrooms and buffalo chips for the appetizers. Very good! Our first night we had the bacon wrapped fillet and too sirloin. We ordered medium- and they came out perfectly! Juicy, seasoning not overwhelming. Our second night there we are later- the steaks were over done per our requests- could be because we ate later....not ideal though. I had the prime rib: HOLY COW! Get the prime rib! You won't regret it! We had green beans for sides- fresh, and not slathered in butter. Salads come out as a mini salad bar, where you can add toppings yourself. The red blend wine is very good. Smooth. Not too dry. Chocolate cake desert: amazing! Customer service is excellent. 4 stars due to our second visit there with the steaks being over done. read more

Back home for the holidays to see my family and as usual banter goes I asked my Father what was new in town. He mentioned a few new shopping stores and couple that closed and then said, "Hey there is a new steakhouse and we got a gift certificate from a friend. We should go check it out!" We arrived around 6pm and the place was half full. It was a brand new rectangular building that was wide open with booths on the perimeter and tables in the middle. Reminded me of a school cafeteria but with old farming antiques nailed to the walls. I was excited to try a steak before I saw the menu. I love a well seasoned and prepared NY strip. But the menu was simple, any sized top sirloin or prime rib you want as well as a few burger options. Top sirloin is my least favorite cut so I decided to have a mushroom and swiss burger instead. I ordered the burger medium and the rest of the table order theirs well-done, so mine came well-done along with everyone else's. The mushrooms were of the canned variety and sautéed in a little butter and the Swiss cheese was the Kraft singles style. My side were the buffalo fries which were tasty. Our server was great and the prices were average, but I think there are better places in Mitchell to get a steak or burger. read more

I am still not sure what people see in this place. I have given it the benifit of a doubt 3 times now I've tried it. This is the last time. The atmosphere isn't bad it has a bunk house feel to it. The service is relative good or atleast got better since the first time. I am not a fan of the communal salad sides that is unsanitary. The steaks are over seasoned and don't taste good. My wife had the prime and said that was better then the sirloin anyway. I thought I'd try the bigger this time as I heard they where good. They are not. There are way better steak houses in mitchell that I would recommend. If you're looking for burgers or pasta as well I wouldn't eat here. The waiter brought out a basket of fried pickles maybe even one whole pickle in the basket and for 7.00 none the less. We ordered 2 hamburgers worth fries. After waiting an hour for our food. I had to go to the kitchen to cancel the order. But miraculously it was ready. So they brought the good out. We've been better off going to the McDonalds next door. Very bland taste. We ordered the appetizer, chislic, which was bite sized deep fried beef tips. They came with a tasty dip. These were delicious! Very tender and flavorful. I had a garden salad and my husband had a bowl of Wisconsin cheese soup. With the salad, Cal brought an assortment of salad condiments so that I could build my own salad. We both got the 6 oz filet and they were really good!! Very well seasoned, cooked perfectly, and delicious. I got the yam as side and my husband got green beans. The yam was average. I spent last week pheasant hunting in Mitchell. We have been there every year for the past 10 years, and thought we would try this new restaurant (7 men). Arrived, and waited 15 minutes at the receptionist desk on a Wednesday night at 7:00 PM. When she arrived, she told us that it would be a 20 minute wait to be seated, even though there were many empty tables in site. When we asked about those, she was rude, told us that the server was not ready to serve those tables and we would just have to wait. I am a doctor, and the other gentlemen were engineers, and geologist. We left. I will never return to this establishment. One only gets one chance to make a first impression, and they failed miserably. They were not interested in the $300.00 tab that 7 hungry hunters would generate, only being rude and obstinate.
