Love me some CAVA! It is one of our favorite fast casual restaurants whenever we visit the DC area. When I heard that CAVA was opening a location in Virginia Beach, I let out a loud WHOOP!!! The food is flavorful and a great combination of textures. It is basically everything that that other famous SoCal-influenced fast casual burrito place wishes it could be. So, why only a 4-star review? Because the layout of this location is absolutely insane! During busy times (which, considering how good CAVA is, should be often), the foot traffic can be described as a one-way spiral. It is easy to get in, place your order, and get to a table, but if you have to get up to use the bathroom or refill your drink, you are guaranteed to be fighting against traffic no matter which path you choose. So glad that we have a CAVA here in the 757. First time I had it was in NoVa. Everything you can order is so fresh and clean. The garlic sauce is a must!! Well, tonight the folks at Cava were were not very accommodating, or welcoming. It's still only 8:40 pm (they close at 10!) and it couldn't have been more obvious that they didn't want anymore customers. The girl scrapped the crusty bottom of the grilled veggies bin and I had to ask if they could just make more, as did the people behind who also wanted veggies. We were told it would be 15 minutes after initially saying it would be 5 (like this was our fault?) in hopes we would choose differently. Garbage and boxes were piled up in several places and you could tell no managers were working. Cava has always had nice employees but tonight was different. We will be back, but maybe not this one for a while--these types of employees usually do not last long, I hope anywayz. Maybe we'll start going to the Mezah at Lynnhaven mall instead. read more

From the time I saw that beautiful black building pop up in Town Center, I thought it would make a beautiful Cava and here we are. I first had it in Charlotte, NC and then again in NYC and was instantly in love. The taste and quality of food is top notch for a fast casual place. The only reason I can't give this location 5 stars (YET!) is the portioning. I won't be too harsh, because I do notice a lot of seemingly young kids and this may be their first job. When getting toppings and hummus, 2 of them sprinkled the teeniest little bit which was a bit alarming. Perhaps the other Cavas I had been to were just more liberal in their portions, but the other person I was with agreed with me as well. Cava is awesome; this location is an absolute dump. The staff is sloppy attired and groomed and unfriendly. The food is absolutely slopped together with minimal care or even contempt, often bearing little resemblance to other Cava locations. I've gotten literally hundreds of dollars worth of credit from the place by reporting missing or just horrible quality food. When I order from here, I would bet money - and win - that something will be missing or messed up about every single item I order. Missing dressing. Absent side pita. Requested toppings that don't get added. They have an annoying habit of not using the dedicated to-go cubbies, forcing everyone who ordered online to awkwardly loiter and interrupt to ask for their food at the register, where they're holding it all captive. I'm a big fan of cava. I've been to this location a number of times and each time my food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the restaurant was clean. Sometimes during the lunch rush the line can get kinda long but usually no more than 5-10 min in line. Cava has vegan options and it's labeled on their menu in store which is helpful when making choices. I particularly liked the lamb which I found very flavorful. We stopped here for a quick lunch while shopping and were delighted with our meals. Everything was flavorful, interesting drink options were fun and it was super quick and convenient. They a fast casual place that has build your own bowls with many options and "bases" to select from including several types of greens, grains or a mix of both. Several protein options, many delicious sauces and a bunch of toppings and dips as well. Serving meal kits. They are great. Food is good. But the buzz kill her was that the mobile pick up is horrendous. For example, my family placed an order about 20 minutes ago. The time to pick it up was set at 5:00. Standard time so we thought it was fine. We get there and we wait for ten minutes. We go in and the food is sitting there on the counter. We look at the order print time and it was printed when we called to tell that we here to pick up our food 15 minutes earlier. The food was cold and we where dissatisfied. Luckily we own a microwave and we got to reheat it for when we got home. Normally we have no issue so we were appalled at the service we received. My family recommend in store pick up over curb side. Its not worth it at all. TLDR- Dont get curbside pick up just go in the store. read more

How long do you wait in line? Forever? When they take your order in front of you and put it in a to go bag. Stopped them before more people were disappointed. However the kicker is they kept making online orders and others in line kept going past the two customers. The manager came and gave us a coupon not for this visit but the next visit. I have to say that the Cava in Greenbrier has this Cava beat (not sure if they are individually owned). If I can't make the drive to Greenbrier then I won't be going to Cava because I refuse to visit this location again. Staff is rude. The portions are a lot smaller but the prices were a lot larger. I can't believe that I paid $5 dollars more for a couple shreds of lamb added to one of the specialty bowls. Mine and my S/Os bill came to almost $40 and I'm still shocked. I told the young lady assisting us, this was our first time and she rolled her eyes and seemed so impatient.
