My first evaluation I was charged $250.00 for a procedure that was not performed. I called them and the response was we always do that procedure on evaluations, but looking at your chart I see we did not. I will remove it from your bill. What if I was not in the medical field and didn't know what that charge on my bill meant? I wonder how many people pay for services not received. Once the evaluation was done I was told it would take 4-6 weeks to get an authorization from my insurance. I never got a call from New River Periodontics regarding my insurance authorization. It took me 2-3 calls to get someone to follow up and send me the estimate for my review. Once I obtained my estimate, got time off from work and was able to get an appointment the timeframe for the insurance estimate ran out. This was not do to a lack of me trying to get it done timely. It was because the business office never did their job and got me my authorization and estimate as they said they would. So, I had to make another appointment to complete another evaluation to be sent into the insurance. During this time my doctor quit the practice and now I have to see a different doctor. I got an email confirming date, time and location for my second evaluation. Drove 1.5 hours to get to Blacksburg to be told my appointment was not at that office but the one in Roanoke. The one 30 minutes closer to my house. I show the receptionist in the office the email I received providing date, time and location. She went and got the business manager, who is rude and tries to make the customer feel like they are stupid. He said the address on the email is there because that is their billing address not the address for the appointment. It does not say this is the billing address, it is listed right below the date and time of the appointment. Sure looks like the address for my appointment. There are no other addresses listed on the email. Don't waste your time. They have some office management issues. Stephine Kusek

I paid it in full the moment I realized the mistake. Despite my close to two decades of loyalty, management completely refused to reinstate my account or allow me to schedule future appointments. Deeply disappointed in how they treat long-term patients. Beware if you expect any level of human understanding from their corporate policies. Take your teeth, your records, and your excellent payment history to a practice that treats you like a human being.

This morning I got a call stating the doctor in the office today reviewed my daughter's needs and decided he was unable to work with my daughter. Instead referred us to see a pediatric dentist. My daughter has gotten cavities filled before at this location and it has never been an issue. Now I need to find pedi dentist, she will need an exam, and then wait another 2 weeks before having these cavities filled. I don't understand if there was an issue why wait the day of the appointment to notify the family? They even called and confirmed the appointment yesterday. This experience today was completely unprofessional and unethical. I will definitely relay this information to anyone who ask me about this practice and we will be seeking alternative dental services.
