We got married there last weekend and I was so appreciative of the staff! Long story short - we planned this micro wedding in just 3 weeks, with the setting of their gorgeous Italian gazebo in mind. Due to crazy Covid, we had some miscommunication and I thought all hope was lost, but Rev Rick didn't take long to correct the mistake! The gazebo is beautiful. The deck is lighted so nicely. The bridal and groom suites were comfortable. It was nice to have the whole place to ourselves sans options setup for move inside if weather necessary. We brought our own officiant & photographer, etc but Rev Rick helped setup our decor, shuttled around our family on the golf cart, and was just overall ready and willing to help with a smile. If you have a year to plan a wedding, or if you only have 60 days this is THE place. Their packages take a lot of the burden off you and allow you to focus on those things that will make your wedding special. Cindy does an unbelievable job in coordinating the event. She is quick to offer suggestions that can put those special touches on your day! They have a list of vendors, bakers, florists, tuxedo providers, photographers and videographers that they have worked with and they can speak to the quality of their work. Many of these vendors will offer you special rates and packages when they know you are having your wedding at the Castle. The staff there is friendly, attentive and a real pleasure to work with. On the day of the wedding the entire staff really shines. We had some of the family that could not go to the buffet and get their food. Without saying a word the staff talked to the disabled guests and made plates for them. I cannot say enough about this place. We had TONS of complements from friends, family and other guests about how wonderful and special the wedding was. read more

Rick and Delaney were awesome! We couldn't have asked for a better experience. My husband and I wanted something intimate with immediate family and didn't want a big traditional wedding. Their online ceremony builder is awesome, Rick lets you really customize it so you can have exactly what you want. He was a truly nice man and made us all feel so welcome. Delaney was such a great photographer and made sure to get a ton of pictures for us, and they look so pretty! We really couldn't have asked for a better experience. My experience here is that of a wedding photographer. I'm only commenting on the visual aspect of the venue. The Good: It's a neat venue. The design alone should tell you that. The outside ceremony area is gorgeous with the marble center piece backed by large magnolia trees. The bridal suite is large and very well suited for a large bridal party. An upstairs hidden patio for is handy when you want to get some fresh air. The back patio is quite large and well suited for outside use for dining and drinking. Of course I can't forget the lookout atop of the castle which has a great view of the Blue Ridge Mountains or if you're lucky like the bride and groom I photographed there, a great view of a double rainbow. The Meh: I'm not a fan of the canary yellow paint, it casts funky color on people when you use your flash or ample ambient light. That's my single meh thought of the place. It's in the back room of the bridal suite and downstairs in the reception area. You wouldn't know it, because your photographer will fix it, but it's just something extra to edit. read more

BEWARE!! Planned to have our wedding here and put deposit down, was told that we could cancel and get deposit back as long as it was within 72 hours. My wife and I decided to elope to Las Vegas and canceled our wedding at the castle well within the 72 hr period. Have contacted the owners multiple times and have been ignored and still haven't received our deposit back. I have had to put in a dispute on my credit card for the amount of the deposit. People seem nice and wonderful until they don't get what they want from you so beware about putting a deposit down on this place if there is any chance you may change your mind. Fraud and deceit is all you will get from this place and it's owners!! read more

I got married November the 3rd 2017. It was my first marriage and I couldn't decide where I wanted to go. I just knew I wanted it private and just a few of my family and friends. I stubbled across Cavender Castle on line and immediately, I knew this was the place for me. The castle is so beautiful. The outside wedding venue was just what I wanted. Rick,Cydi and Delaney where so understanding and professional and patient. I would recommend them anytime for your special occasion. The price is very affordable. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE. If you are planning to have a small wedding DONT CHOOSE THIS PLACE. We had our 54 guest wedding set confirmed and made $1500 down payment and TWO WEEKS BEFORE OUR WEDDING DAY Cindy said we need to change our wedding date or change our time because they have a 350+ wedding party that day that came out of the blue... Cindy didn't even call me to tell me. I called to make a payment and that's when she let me know!!!! How the hell do you have the nerve to confirm and book our wedding party then two weeks before you tell me to change our date and tell everyone differently?! No, this place is just money hungry. They don't care about you as a bride/groom whatsoever they care about the money you are putting on the table. read more

Don't book this unless you are absolutely certain you won't have a change of plans. We had to cancel and they told us that if they were able to rebook our date and time they would refund us. They rebooked our date and time but then told us they didn't. I'm so glad they weren't the ones that actually did our wedding. We gave them plenty of notice (over 2 months) and it was less than 30 days after we booked it. read more

My finace and I were going to book our elopement through them and had originally spoken to Cindi relatively early on a Wednesday morning, who was very nice and accommodating. She was to bill my credit card for the deposit that night and email a confirmation so the officiant could contact us for details and preferences. I called the next day as I had not received my email. I spoke to Rev. Rick about 1:30pm and he assured me it was his fault it had not been done and that he would take care of it that day. He was rather curt and seemed annoyed that I was so anxious to start planning my first and only wedding. Alas, nothing was done on the second day. I called back the third day about 9am and left a message. I had not received a call back by 2pm and no emails. I called again that day and spoke to Rev. Rick again, who complained his wife's father was in rehab due to illness; I expressed my compassion for that and that she had not mentioned that to me on or original call, nor that her father's illness might hinder processing time. He again was terse and curt and annoyed that I was trying to get them to confirm my date and time that I had discussed with his wife Cindi who had already written me in and had promised to process my card for the deposit so I could continue with my plans. I pointed out that HE had PERSONALLY PROMISED to process my deposit when his wife was unable to. He showed no concern or care about this and expressed his discontent with my persistence. We at that time decided that I would NOT have my service there. Unless you click with Rick, expect no service from these folks. Look elsewhere. read more

We met with Cyndi and Rick to plan our wedding and it was everything we wanted and more they laid out the red carpet in planning. Come time for the wedding we arrive on time Cyndi our wedding planner arrived late. They were all running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to get everything ready for our wedding. They were unavailable to assist us with anything on the day of our wedding. I'm in the brides room getting ready and Cyndi comes in asking me for details of the colors of sand etc that we had already sat down on the day of planning and wrote down but she didn't have any of our plans with her to go by. The colors were wrong on the tables with the flowers etc. We were promised we would have plenty of time for pictures before and after. They didn't take any pictures before at all. They forgot the big vase for us to pour our sand in and during our ceremony they had to run get it and delay the middle of the ceremony. We were rushed like crazy after our ceremony and were only able to take a few pictures as Cyndi is on her radio trying to figure out how to rush us out because they had the next wedding party there waiting on us to get out and we hadnt even done our reception. Everything Cyndi was suppose to coordinate with us dancing with out children she didn't do. We ended up with two of our little girls crying because they felt left out in the dance because she didn't switch them as planned. It was the greatest day of my life because I married the most wonderful man. But the castle staff had no part in making it everything it was planned to be. We couldn't even walk out the door because there was a group of people standing at the door waiting to get in. They planned a wedding on top of ours and had us very stressed through the who day. I wouldn't recommed using their services. Their sales talks are great but when it came to puting their words into actions it didn't happen. I was upset to tears and very disappointed with the Castle staff. read more
