Just purchased a used return hat for a new price. This Cavender's is an outrageous price goodwill store. Asked the manager, Cheryl, since it was on the sale rack with prices scratched out and she said it was new price while admitting it was a used returned hat. Avoid this particular Cavender's to ensure you get new items that you will be paying for and shop at the more credible stores in the area. My 2 cents after being surprised. I read the comments about this place having poor customer service. Though when I went in I was greeted with a smile . I was helped immediately by melody . She was so nice She asked me what I was looking for , I told her I'm looking for square toed work boots . She guided me to their selection on square toed boots . She even picked some out for me as suggestions. She was very helpful and I will definitely be coming back!!! So if you're looking for boots I'd definitely recommend this place , great selection . Ok..so a lot of you locals are going to hate this review, but I really enjoyed my shopping experience at this store. The service was impeccable and the selection was overwhelming. Let me say however, that I am visiting from NY and went to a few other stores to get some "western" attire...pearl button shirt.. boots, hat..etc. I also went to Boot Barn but was not as impressed as this store. I also tried DXL but they had little in what I was looking for. I am sure that some readers will say that there are better places to shop..this review is not for you. This review is for the traveler that finds him self in town for a couple of days and may not know of every place in the area. But from my point of view, this place was fantastic..the north does not have stores like this and the ones we have that sell similar apparel are a sad knockoff to this place. read more

We like this boot store for some things. Most of the time, my husband visits this store for Ariat FRC shirts. As far as FRC shirts go, their selection of Ariat's are very limited. There were many employees around women's boots (no employees actually in there) but all were chit chatting between themselves and avoiding eye contact with customers and walking away. We had to grab a random guy who did his best to help. However it didn't seem like his dept. The first heavy set brunette he asked was beyond rude to him and us both. Walked past us all saying they "don't have that size" and kept going while I was asking if they had other sizes. She ignored me and the employee both and kept walking away. They didn't have ANY of the 3 sizes I asked about. The next woman he asked for help was a blonde who may be "manager". Her attitude was just as atrocious and she loudly told him across the room to be sure to stay with us when we try on a certain type of boot. I get that this is the policy for the "higher end" boots of what they carry, but to loudly yell that in the tone that she did is absurd and beyond unprofessional. Esp when you can't even locate your own stock or manage your employees. This is definitely a reflection of leadership at this location. We waited around for a while then went on to men's boots Bc I was over it. Employees helping customers on the men's side. Refreshing!!! We went back after about 20 min to see if they had come out, they appeared shortly thereafter and still couldn't find said boot match. She was dismissive and walked around us when we said nicely "no luck?". Zero customer service. Such an attitude. I just took a photo and told them never mind after being treated poorly yet again. We will find the boot elsewhere and we won't bring any of our business back to this location. And I'm nearly certain if she was a mgr, that really doesn't matter to her. But maybe to the owners who are leaving their company in her hands? These "women" need retraining and attitude checks. They just cost your location significant $$ between us both buying boots and attire, of which we were purchasing today had this gone differently. I had to leave I was so fed up and wouldn't be able to be kind to burned out people power tripping. Stop profiling your customers and accusing them of being thieves for all to hear and do your job. Probably the worst experience we have ever had at a cavenders. We do thank the guy that attempted to assist us as he received zero respect and support from these 2. I just wanted to look around. I really did want to buy boots but the guy that greeted us just kept stalking me. I tiled him two times that I would find him if I had questions. But he kept following me. So uncomfortable that we decided to leave. They must work on commission is all I can figure but it's so annoying when you are constantly being watched. The only reason this is getting 2 stars instead of 1 star is because of Belinda at the hat counter. She was very helpful. The young girls at the front checkout counter are rude and unhelpful . One girl just stared at me until I asked if she could help me. I was literally at the counter right in front of her. I overheard two workers cussing about children who were playing in front of the counter while waiting for their parents. It seems like these workers go out of their way to NOT help you. Needed to replace my boots that flooded & finally purchased a hat after several years of going back and forth. Thank you to Seth who spent a good 20+ minutes helping me find the right style/size & shaping my hat for me! Not entirely sure why this place has so many bad reviews as I've been over 5 times in the last year and have had great customer service and advice in belts & boots before as well as shipping in from other stores and returns. Everyone has always been quite happy to help as long as you ask someone who isn't currently trying to help 2-3 other people. read more

Bought a pair of shoes for a gift. They did not fit so she went to exchange them and they didnt have her size. The asst manager who helped her #1 was rude #2 would only put the refund back on the card that purchased it. I did give her the receipt & gift receipt. So she walked out with 0 for her gift so now I have to go buy another pair to give her when they could have just given her a gift card to go get her own. I havent shopped there for many years and now remember why and I will not ever again! No reason what so ever to be rude to your customers!! read more

Brand new location, just past the new Kroger on FM 1960, to the right in Humble. The store was very clean, well maintained, organized, with a large selection of western items: boots, apparel, belts, accessories, hats, and much more. Pretty well staffed, but not as personable as I would have expected. Like a lot of Houstonians, I only do the 'western wear' during rodeo season. I don't wear boots regularly, but wanted to splurge on a nice pair to wear each year. I had to do some searching for an employee to help out with my boot search. I really didn't know what I was looking for (brands, style, etc) so was hoping for a little insight. The store clerk did her best to suggest brands and styles, but was very short...as though I should have done my research before coming in. I guess I was expecting too much. I ended up buying some nice boots at a different store, but may try this location again, if I know exactly what I'm looking for. read more

My husband purchased a pair of work boots from Cavendars. After only a month of wear, the boots were falling apart-- the lining and steel toe were coming out when he would take his boots off. I have been to Cavenders my whole life. My boyfriend recently moved around Kingwood area and I was happy to see a Cavenders close by. Well I did not like any of the employees. Our first visit I went to find some dresses and find a pit of jeans for my boyfriend. RED FLAG: the employees don't ask if you need help when you make it as obvious as you can that you need it. RED FLAG 2: All the workers just look miserable there. RED FLAG 3: they don't have as much of varieties of stuff that other cavenders would have. Lastly, what got to me, there was a blonde hair cashier. From a mile afar I could sense I wouldn't like her. She was the ONLY cashier available, well one thing I noticed she had a major attitude, acted as she was too good to be in some place lile Cavenders, and lastly she just did not smile or anything. I can tell they don't pay attention to you if you look like you could only afford a clearance shirt. I work in retail and talk to whatever customer, always smiling (even on my rough days), create conversation with them. But they won't talk to you unless you look like a walking wallet. I can tell they work on commission and it's wrong ig you don't get assistance the rude cashiers get it. Horrible place. read more

Very disappointed with the service..... theres so many younger men and women working there that seem like all they want to do is stand around and talk to each other. We were in the store 10 mins walking around looking for someone to help us find a certain brand of jeans and finally i was able to get a lady to help us who was older and much more willing to help us. The man who helped us woth the boots was great too just couldnt find a god size. The biggest issue was at check out. There was maybe 2 other families checking out and two or three other registers that didnt have anyone at them but like 7 people behind the counter all talkong and shooting the sh*t with each other.... no one asking "are you ready to check out?" Or "do you need some help?" But we got nothing finally a girl spoke up amd said she coukd take us on the other side and another girl tolk another member in our family. Well we checked out and after i slid my card to pay the girl said she needed to see my I.D. with the card.... after the transaction was alredy going through. Well when i showed her my I.D. (which was a military I.D.) then she said with a sarcastic tone "oh well you could have gotten 10% with your I.D." I was dumbfounded..... thats why you either advertise thay you do thay discount or you ask for the I.D. before the person pays. The attitude wasnt needed from the associate. Brand new, huge, great selection of boots and clean. My husband works as a Gate Keeper at the Rodeo so we came in around 8 pm one night to get his hat cleaned. The gentleman was eager to assist and had great customer service. The hat was ready less then 5 minutes. I have been wanting a pair of boots so I decided to look but there was only 1 person in that department trying to help 7+ customers. That seemed like a lot for one person. Hope did what she could but the customer service was not there because she was being stretched way to thin. During the Rodeo season they need to have more staff. i just left cavenders And they are by far the worst company Ive Ever been to. my experience there was horrible soon as we walked in we were stereotyped and I recommend that any body of color do not go to this store. we went to purchase Some boots with a voucher that was given by my husbands employer. she stated that she could not accept it. she then went and started chitter chatting with another one of her employees then stated oh I guess I'll go ask the manager. shortly after that the manager stated that he could accept it, mellissa was working in the front and then rolled her eyes and stated go find what you need this lady has Very poor people skills and in very unprofessional to work in the front of the store and clearly shows that she's very judgmental with customers when she should be the one to set the tone for the store other staff members then began to follow us around as if they had to keep a close eye on us thinking we were going to steal. we Felt very unwelcome and cold And I definitely feel as if they did not want us in the store and was treated like we had no money to even be there . this made me feel so uncomfortable as a person and I will never shop there again. read more
