Stopped by here for a pit stop. The first parking lot we came across was a little misleading as it said "Brewery Parking" but it was the overflow lot. We did find the brewery just a short way up. It's a fairly large brewery. It was quiet as they had just opened and they had plenty of board games and seating. Seems like it was a very laid back brewery that would be great to come in to just chill. We ordered at the front and then sat ourselves. We got a flight and also ordered a Hawaiian pizza. The beer was pretty good, we really liked the Smores Brown and the pizza was delicious. Service was friendly and fairly quickly and we loved that it was dog friendly inside. I've only been to Cavendish one time and I truly enjoyed myself, despite going alone. The service was fairly good and I gave the food a three out of five, because the salsa was spicy, instead of mild, the bartender was not very attentive, and there weren't many food choices. The ambience was cozy. I liked the little nooks that they offered for individuals to chill on the couch or sit at a table. My main objective was to participate in karaoke on this night in addition to trying the chicken quesadillas, which were pretty good. I will definitely be going back again on a Saturday night from 7 to 9 PM. I turned into a pumpkin at 9:15 PM. Lol read more

Great little brewery in downtown Gastonia. We hit this place on the way home after hiking in Hickory. Really enjoyed the selection of fresh brews including Pale and Brown Ales and Pilsners . Stopped in on the way to the airport. Located in Gastonia NC,this brewery has a real funky vibe. The interior has a touch of punk,rock,and just about every other style of interior design possible. I tried their Cowboy Water which is a light golden lager. 5.2ABV. My wife had the Bludacris cider which was a blueberry lemon release from Durham Cider Crawl. Both beverages were very good. Being gluten free I asked the friendly bartender for a suggestion and he offered the Bludacris Cider. It is a blueberry lemon cider that truly had a distinct blueberry flavor. I was skeptical after having other blueberry drinks that were disappointing so I was grateful that he told me I would love it! The music and decor gave this place a funky fun vibe. How, in my four-plus years in the area, have I not given a review to Cavendish yet?! I mean, it's one of two breweries in Gastonia (and the other, which is awesome in it's own right hasn't been here nearly as long yet)! First, the beers - have yet to have a "meh" beer, much less a bad beer, in the 26 different beers (I counted on Untappd!) I've had here. Always love to get the limited release ones, but staples like Dragonbane Stout and Foggy Mountain Cave-In are like a comfortable hug when I'm just in the mood for something familiar. Next, the food - my daughter straight up LOVES The 'Dish Nachos and so do I, but I'll admit they lost a little something switching from Fritos to regular tortilla rounds. That said, the pulled pork and queso makes up for that in spades. The pizzas are also fantastic. Don't sleep on the Cheeseburger Pizza, it's one of my faves. Finally, the atmosphere and staff - comfy confines with more than enough seating, couches, etc. and whoever picks the music each time we're in is somehow spot-on. Charlotte behind the bar is always the best, the gold standard. Tip her well. Also, don't sleep on the events hosted here. My wife and I attended a Golden Girls drag brunch a few months ago (presented by Just Two Guys Productions) and it was SO MUCH FUN. Cavendish is great, full stop. read more

Great find! We were visiting family in Lincolnton and found this on our way back to SC. Parking is in a lot next door and easy to get to. We were hungry and ordered the meat lovers pizza... oh yum yum yum! Good selection of beer. They had live music, but they were set up inside so we didn't hear them. I love Cavendish! As a native Gastonian, we visit often. Love the karaoke and music bingo on certain nights and the cornhole boards outside! You cannot go wrong with their Cowboy Water and a pretzel on the side. Everyone is super nice and helpful if you're unsure what to order. Definitely give this place a shot if you haven't been before! Apparently, this used to be an old car dealership. This makes it a bit of a different vibe since most breweries used to be warehouses, and they haven't changed much. They all echo, they all have wooden concrete everywhere, and they pretty much run Hopps through a juicer. Now back to this place. It feels more like a neighborhood bar restaurant then say resident culture, and it pretty much is. Cowboy water is my second favorite North Carolina beer next to red Oak. Be careful though. It's such an easy drinker that you won't realize the punch it packs until it's too late. It will get you feeling good quick. You will definitely want to eat something before you start drinking that and luckily their pizzas are amazing. Service is amazing. They know pretty much everyone that comes through the door, and if they don't, they just act like they do. Parking is kind of tricky, but it's just a matter of the parking lots being somewhat offsite. Pro tip, great place to watch the Gastonia fireworks on the Fourth of July. read more

I went there today and ordered a salad around 2pm. At 2:50pm, after seeing two people that ordered after me get their food, I went to the bar to ask about my food. The bar tender got an attitude with me. He told me that they were overwhelmed. He didnt offer to check on my order. When I pointed out to him that I had been wating 50 minutes he gave me the same excuse with an attitude. I ordered a salad, something that requires no cooking. Two people with cooked orders got their food before me. It was obvious that they misplaced my order. I went to the bathroom on my way out and it smelled like a rest stop bathroom. read more

What an amazing Brewery! Located inside the old Ford Dealership! Offering brews, wine and amazing food! My first night I was blown away at their version of Butter Beer! It was like Christmas at Hogwarts in a can! The next night, my brother who is home from the Army, and mom joined me for pizza and a drink or two before I headed back home! We where fortunate enough to congratulate a beautiful couple as well who had said their I Do's that day'! So not only are they Gaston's Brewery hot spot, but an amazing venue for a Wedding Reception! Passing through town, we decided to try out the local craft brewery. A mild feel of poor management was the first impression. But we stood in the queue in front of the bar---only to have an old man with his empty pint glass jump ahead of us to get a refill! Beers were okay, not great. Neat place off of 321. Look for the logo on the highway sign to turn off. The super friendly bartender was full of funny stories and filled us in on the backstory of the place. Very chill vibe inside, not at all pretentious like some smaller craft places can come off on a first visit. It was a little sleepy I guess because we showed up soon after they opened, but they have events with a strong nerd vibe and a bigger night crowd apparently. There are tons of board games and video games to keep you busy. Food too, but weren't hungry. I would stop by again for sure next time I'm down in Gaston County. read more

The trivia at this location was really fun, the service was always quick and efficient, and the beers are alright!

The outside wasn't what I was expecting. The building looks like it use to be a mattress store. However when you go in side it is open with tables, couches and a gaming set up. They have both board games and a video games. They have a limited food menu. We went on a Saturday and their cheese quesadillas were a dollar off. My wife and I just finished a hike and were hungry. We each got one and it hit the spot. They were very cheese which great. We each did a flight and thought it was a little expensive as it $10 for 4 pours. Some beers were better tasting then others. I enjoyed their hefeweizen. As we were leaving we noticed they had a patio off to the side with some picnic tables and lawn games. Happy there's finally a brewery in Gastonia. They have picked some interesting brews to start with for a population that may or may not appreciate Belgians and Saisons. Maybe start out with Pale Ales, an IPA and a Pilsner or a Wit (like Ole Dallas Brewing did), build a clientele, then get more creative. Came in this past Saturday. Really like the site/ great space on the corner. Digging the beer wagon painting as well. The taproom is average size. Could not order a flight yet, as the paddles had not yet arrived. A bartender was very nice to pour samples, so I could taste all five currently on tap. As an overall comment (with the exception of maybe the Porter), the CO2 volume on the other four seemed very low and really affected the mouth feel and the taste for me. The Brown Ale and the Porter were okay. Was not a fan of the Dampfbier or the Belgian Blonde. The Elder Thing really has some potential but again it felt/tasted in a sense "flat". My next two stops after my visit here, I was asked how the IPA was - unfortunately it had not been tapped yet, so I didn't get to sample it. read more

Amazing, must visit while in Gastonia!!! Came here due to a Groupon I found since I was new to the area. I met the owner, who also gave the tour of the brewery, who was super nice! The brewery used to be a car dealership, which was a cool fun fact, something you'd never guess based on how it looks now! There is an outside picnic area with corn hole boards and there are also some games inside. The beer is tasty and inexpensive! Growlers are affordable too! I wish they offered more food options but overall I had a wonderful time and I've even been back a couple times since my first visit. I've also bring friends here who also enjoyed it! If you love beer and live near by you could be missing out on your new favorite spot, just saying! read more
