My wife and I went in for a late lunch today. We ate at the bar and it was not crowded at 2pm. I ordered a plain Turkey and Cheddar panini and my wife ordered the full menu version of the same item. We ordered a water and a Diet Coke. My sandwich came with Swiss cheese but I ate it anyway for the sake of time. The nice server offered to remake my sandwich, and actually did, but I told her not to - she promised a discount for the mistake. This spot is one of Gastonia's hidden treasures. I've been here several times. It's very laid back and the service is always on point. I was heading out for wine last night and it just so happened my spot of choice was having a special event. Gaston Pour House was nearby so we headed right over. The decor and the vibe is really chill, they have a pool table, and other games to keep you entertained. They offer outdoor seating, which is great for people watching. Our outing last night was great, the bartender Aaron kept us laughing and he provided excellent service. All this time I never knew they offered a light menu, but it's definitely good to know. All in all, I really like this bar. They offer a great amount of local beers, decent wine, and a surprising amount of top shelf spirits. read more

I was born in Tonytown, back in the day. It has changed so much from the thriving mill town of the 50's and 60's. My Sister, Mary Elizabeth has been persistent with her invites to have me join her to see her BF Todd & his band Ruckus. Friday night was the night and despite a threatening sky and tornado warnings I made the trek from Fort Mill. I was so glad I did as this tight combo put on a great show of classic R&B covers from Marvin Gay to Otis Redding to Al Green. They tossed in some DMB, John Mayer & Led Zeppelin for good measure. Todd on bass, David on lead guitar and Trey on the drum kit have a unique performing style, great sound and a intuitive feel for that classic 70's vibe. Don't be shy, make a request for All Along The Watchtower, sit back and enjoy. Most of the time this is a restaurant/bar and they have what looks to be like a good breakfast selection with some good bagel choices, the bagel lox got my attention. Mary Elizabeth ordered us a nice bottle of Napa Stags Leap Merlot, vintage 2018, wow, my Sis can pick em! They have some outside tables and plenty of free parking across the street in the Court House parking lot. read more

The staff was absolutely amazing! The cheese board was decent- I think some of the meats where not too fresh and a cheese may have been opened and exposed to other scents and things in the fridge. It can happen, but should he monitored and checked for sure- I do recommend asking guests for allergies to certain things as well. As we both had allergies and the board was covered is a nut assortment. Which I can't recall was mentioned on the menu. But good to think to ask going forward! I stopped in for a cup of coffee. Rachel was nice and helpful. The place had a old, warn and warm feel to it that was very pleasant. It was mostly empty when I went as it was an odd time of day but I could see it being very fun in the evenings. My coffee was delicious and fresh brewed. They offer a lot more on their menu that all looked like good options so I am looking forward to going back to try other things. read more

We were in town visiting family. Living 6 hours away, we are out of touch with the local Gastonia night life. For many years there was none, so we rarely venture out for dinner. I am glad we did. This place was a pleasant surprise. Lots of good craft beer on tap as well as in the bottle. The staff is friendly, and they made us feel welcome. Menu is a little trendy at first glance, but I suggest you step out of the box and give it a try. I am a meat and potatoes girl, and I was surprised how well the flavors blended. Give it a go. At 9:00pm I went in for some coffee (see quote above from the website) and barista is cleaning and tells me it's too late for coffee - 2 hours before closing. So the coffee is not available, the hospitable service is not available, "for anyone, anytime" is not available. Would not recommend this "business" and will never go back. read more

We stopped into Gaston Pour House on a whim after having dinner down the street. It was pretty crowded on a Friday night, so we decided to go to the bar to grab a drink. The ambiance is casual and the live music was nice, but our service was pretty terrible. The bartender was so rude and condescending! Having never been here before, I asked if they had a Cabernet. The bartender literally laughed at me and handed me a menu. They had two on the menu- could he not just say that? I told him I'd just have the house cab. Again he laughed at me. Now I know why- it was horrible. I'm not judgey about wines, but I couldn't even finish the glass. And that's saying a lot coming from me lol After spending some time listening to the live music, my fiancé went to close his tab. The bartender literally ignored him and continued to serve other customers. It was busy, but not that busy. It literally took 15 minutes just to get the bartender to close his tab. The drinks are amazing. We love the bar staff. Kim is great! It's always too smoky, from the grill, for my liking. I always smell of grease and smoke when I leave; that is what keeps us from going there as often as we'd like. Another issue is the cooler, where beers are stored,is never cold. First time visiting, didn't realize they have a decent beer selection and food. Adam and Cameron were welcoming and friendly, and we enjoyed talking with them. Both are full of personality! We had the grilled cheese and pita chips with pimento cheese - delicious! We noticed Cameron washed his hands AND put on gloves before handling any food, which you don't see often enough. Finally got out to give this place a try. We ordered two coffees, one Carmel iced latte and one white chocolate mocha macchiato, both with a robust coffee flavor unlike any chain you'd order an iced drink at. Ordered the hummus & pimento plate, which was more than enough for two people. Served with cucumber and carrot sticks and warm, crispy biscuits. Flavors in the hummus were spot on, but the pimento cheese could use some work. More kick and less sweet, maybe more pimento, too!! This place has a lot of potential. I had the GREAT pleasure of having Gaston Pour House cater an event for a local non-profit Christmas party - the whole experience was a dream! From start to finish, they was professional and wonderful to deal with. Now, the food! Omg! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! All of the guests were impressed with the variety and left full and happy! I can't emphasize how easy they made everything, too. Once I placed the order and reserved the date, everything else was in their capable hands and that was one less thing that I had to worry about in planning the event. This place just seriously sucks. The FIRST time we went, we walked in for breakfast and were the only people there except for 3 people behind the bar. We looked around, assumed we sat ourselves since no one could muster a hello, even after looking up at us and making eye contact. After sitting there for about 5 minutes my husband went to the bar to get menus and inquire to their process (do you order at bar and they deliver, is there table service, what's the coffee situation like) and he was literally ignored by all people at the bar. Shocked at the vibe, we took off. As we are crossing the street to our car a woman comes running after us and yells "Excuse me! Hi there! Was something wrong?!!??!"I was so shocked at her stupidity I kept walking. My gracious and kind husband turned around and gently said "Look, you saw us walk in, sit down, wait, saw me come up to the bar for more info and completely ignored us. Of course we left!" She made up this outrageous response of "It's hard to train people, she's working on getting them to be friendlier and she'd love us to give them another shot." SHE WAS ONE OF THE PEOPLE DOING NOTHING, HOW IS THAT TRAINING THEM TO IMPROVE?! We left and had breakfast elsewhere. Next visit, we go in-same deal. We are the only people there, we now have one girl behind the bar. No greeting, no wave..nada! Finally, after going up to the bar to order, she brings out two really pitiful breakfast burritos and the check. I had a few bites and left the rest and since no one gave a shit if we wanted coffee or anything else for that matter we left cash on the table and bounced. Adam is an amazing talent as a bartender- wine expert, cocktail creator, and mind reader. Gabe is precious! Very attentive, customer oriented, and welcoming. All of the employees genuinely engaged with customers. Speaking of which- as is typical of Gaston County, there were a variety of people from all walks of life, but everyone came together to enjoy the drinks, live music (Jake was incredible!), atmosphere, and customer service.
