This is just a follow up to my previous review. Heads up, as I have found out after working a bit and looking for jobs in my field. New graduates it will be a tough go if your clinics don't pick you up after internship. You find something probably jyst not right away. Don't expect the school to help you either. . .cause they won't. You'll run into places wanting experience just like any other industry. Your internship won't count as experience. Just get out there give great interviews sell yourself Don't be shy brag about your achievements and strong points. Ok, the main reason I am doing a following is this is what myself and couple of well lots 9f my classmates have run into. What the school doesn't tell you when they recruit you. For, most of primo positions in California like working at a hospital. That's where you want to work because you start a great wage and top out an even higher wage. Upper 50s hr. hour or mid 60s per hr. Here's the catch. It's not a California requirement it's a facility requirement and now I'm even seeing out patient clinics ask for it. The good old CRT licensure (Certified Radiologic Technologist). Which California won't issue to MRI Technologist. We do not work with ionizing radiation ( Xray,Dexa,CT) It's not a state requirement. You might if you are lucky impress someone enough to hire you in a hospital. My 1st job was in a hospital. For the most part though you only be able to work in out patient clinics. Once you get that 1 year of experience however, you be able to do travel tech jobs. You can make a buttlioad of money ALOT. There are some pit falls to that as well some of the place techs are asshole because you make more than them and won't help you. Only 2 states require licenses for MRI. Oregon and Indiana. Last, thing the only way to get a crt 7s to go back to school for xray and do another 2 year internship. FUCK THAT RIGHT !?! So if you are looking to enroll in the school or newly enrolled. Put them on the spot and ask them about. If I would have known about this I might have went in another direction. Best of luck to you my people and what ever you choose. read more

I got my AA in Diagnostic Medical Sonography here and I recommend the program! The teachers are almost always available and easy to get in touch with all hours of the day. They really care about each student and make sure no one falls behind. The lab instructors are amazing! They take time to make sure your questions are answered and take the time to get to know you. Covid was a tricky time for everyone(hence the 4/5 stars) but I know now this school will get back into the swing of things and continue producing great college grads! read more

I had applied to the DMS program when COVID had started to become really bad and was rejected (okay, no big deal- it isn't the end of the world) and was given the option to reapply for the next semester. I had emailed Jim back stating that I would like to reapply to the program for the next semester, as he literally gave 3 options in the email and told us specifically to reply back with which option we wanted. Never heard back from anyone. I was ignored. I decided to apply to another school, which was further from me and is not CAAHEP accredited, but it turned out to be a very good decision for me. If you're looking to start a career in sonography, I do not recommend CBD College, even though they are the only CAAHEP accredited school in the Los Angeles area. Take the extra year to work at a clinical site and get your hours to be able to apply for the ARDMS license on top of receiving your ARRT license from a school with a sonography program. In this case, you will have two certificates instead of one. If you're going to be spending $40,000+ on a program, please do your research and do NOT apply here. If you ARE going to apply after reading all the negative reviews, the whole admissions process is extremely unorganized. The admissions counselor will never reach out to you to let you know what the next step is. I had to email André back every time and ask what the next step was and if everything was okay. I then waited an entire month of pure silence only to be rejected. I had passed the math and comprehension test along with the IQ test and submitted my self recorded video on time. I did not visit campus, as- get this- maybe because COVID is a thing and I've contracted COVID twice in the past year? Overall, extremely unprofessional staff that does not care about new students and the prices of the programs are ridiculous for the lack of support you get from the staff. read more

I attended this school in 2012 before they were CAAHEP accredited and the program director Alex layed everything out on the table of what we needed to do to get our certifications. Alot of it comes down to how much the student is willing to commit and sacrafice, whether it be sleep, friends etc. I ended up getting my vascular license and abd and small parts license. Moreover the school also provided me with an employment opportunity in Tucson, Az. I took it and never looked back and was the best choice I ever made. I am now the senior tech at my hospital in AZ and have built a great rapport with my radiologists and er doctors. I have had this on my mind for a few months now I am disgusted with the fact that the school hasn't listened to the complaints and cry outs of the students over 1 of the teachers, Dr. Roland C aka "Dr. C" who is the anatomy and physiology teacher. I hate to start this off so negative but everyone needs to know what is going on and know the school is allowing students to fail due to ONE teacher! Dr. C is heartless and doesn't care if you understand the material. We were given over 220 slides, yes I said it 220 slides to know in 4 days for a 25-30 question quiz and that doesn't include having to study everyday for a quiz from our other classes. He will not tell you what exactly will be on the quiz or what to study for, he just says study the highlighted parts and that means 199 out of the 200+ slides given. And don't you dare ask anything about his quiz because he will snap at you for asking anything other then medical related to his slides. Girls have failed the program because of his class and the school is doing nothing about it. If over 50% of the class can not pass your quiz, it means the teacher is FAILING as a teacher and failing the students. He gets a sick thrill out of knowing we don't get anything he Is saying. Please be aware if you are new to Anatomy because his class is no joke, to the point that its disgusting the school still allows him to teach and fail students. We have seen students cry their eyes out due to the fact that they know his quizzes are almost impossible. and then on top of that "you have 25 minutes" for the quiz and he starts the timer while passing out the test and by the end you have 22-23 minutes even if you don't have your quiz yet. and its creepy that he counts every second. very weird man. very very weird. Now why 2 stars? Because the other 3 teachers for Physics, Math, and Medical Terminology are amazing. They want you to pass. they understand that you have 5 classes a week and a quiz every day and need to pass. they make coming to school a great time. But Mondays and Fridays are hell. Dr. C needs to take notes from the other teachers on how to teach. If the school isn't going to do anything I will put it out there for future students to see. and CBD, I do not want you to reply to me, I want you do something!! Other then that, don't waste your time applying to the dms program here, It's way to competitive to get into; and it seems they only select those who have a college degree, they say that it doesn't matter but it does. I applied twice, and both times I was almost certain that I would get accepted, and to my surprise I was not. I feel like I've wasted my time waiting for this specific college to accept me. even though they are the only caahep in LA area it's not worth your time. There are other colleges that are great like wcui, casa loma, platt and if you are in the Palmdale Lancaster area there is HDMC, these colleges aren't caahep, but they are accredited. Also you are able to sit for your ardms, but you have to take the ARRT exam first. It's worth a try. read more

I attended this school for a brief amount of time and I could honestly say it's a waste of money for starters and teachers don't really care. I was one of the first students for the dental assistant program and it was just terrible the beginning to the end. I didn't finish the course. The front office lady Cynthia always has an attitude and always seems upset. They really just want you to get you into the program just for the money and it really does show. I had several complaints of this school. Not only that but the teachers would treat the students like kids instead of adults (which everyone was/is). If you want to do the dental assistant program or MA I recommend going to an adult school instead. I don't really give many reviews but this place really was unpleasant. read more

Raul helped me so much throughout my end of my school career as a tech, finally getting me a job alongside other fellow CBD alumni, I have to give a great thanks to him, he's truly one of the most beneficial employees to the students. Not only has he provided me with a job, but he's also provided kindness, understanding, accountability, and strong encouragement to understand the best you can do, and surpass that. He is truly a gem of the school, undervalued to say the least. Furthermore, half of this school's values are worth 5 stars, the other half are worth one. The community of students and staff are, for the most part, extremely welcoming and warm-hearted when it comes to understanding personal situations. During my career at CBD College, I maintained a 93% average, and was very involved with the school as a Federal work study, and ambassador. Typically I'd spend 10-12 hours at the school, so I really got to know every corner of the campus, and the people working there. There is high expectations of students, however if you come to meet those expectations of staff, I'm sure you will be successful as an individual, and on your future career. My issues with the school were rather personal, instead of with the establishment itself. I was removed as a student, 10 minutes before taking a qualification test for the Certification of Surgical Technologist (CST) in the ST (Surgical Technologist) program, because I didn't finish one homework assignment. Yes, you read that correctly, one homework assignment. And these homework assignments were simply unfair to students, including series of tests, arbitrary fill in the blanks, presentations, as a part of their last month pre-certification "boot camp." Note that AST does not require this before allowing students to take the CST. It's simply a class, designed for students to fail, so that only people who would, without a doubt, pass the CST, effectively boosting their numbers. What I believe the reason for this is because that the school was recently on the brink of losing their accreditation for the ST. I understand why, however this is extremely ethically questionable. They're not giving chances to students who could very possibly pass, because THEIR school is failing to have enough people pass the program. Now, that is not the fault of the current Surgical Technology program director. She inherited an obviously failing program. However, I wish I was made aware of this when first entering the school. They presented false information of an 80% pass rate. Now this information may not be false several years ago, but wasn't contextually accurate at my time of admission (August 2018). This didn't stop me from being successful however, as the school gives you all the tools to be successful, it's just up to you to take advantage of said tools. In conclusion, if you strongly adhere to the schools rules, completely ditch your personal life, preferably not have kids, than this is a great school to go to. Also I want give special thanks to certain staff, Raul Garcia as previously mentioned, David Martinez- a highly influential, creative, and open teacher, Angela Blocker- my world-study manager; a much needed light in the CBD community, Patrick Bunch- the most realistic teacher; extremely devoted to the well-being of his students (unfortunately has left the college- I miss you!), and many more, I definitely could write a 15 page paper just on how many I give thanks to. read more

Passing board rates are in the high 90s, I believe 97 or 98 for 2019. If you are looking for a fast path to a future rewarding career, CBD is the place to go! I'm not saying that it's easy, but if you have the right mindset, determination and you are willing to put in the work, time will fly by for you! I will be graduating from the OTA program, which is 21 months and will give me an Associate degree. Hello friends, I'm a student in the occupational therapist assistant program. I'm now in my last module which has fieldwork IIA and IIB. I'm under a OTR/L at a skilled nursing facility, then my next fieldwork IIB will be at a children's hospital yaaaay.I learned so much while attending this school and it's in a great location. I also love that so many staff seems to be really involved with students, they want us to pass our classes and will help offer tutoring, and some of the professors would even stay late after class to help students that are struggling with classes. The cost for programs may seem a bit expensive but this was by far one of the cheapest compared to other schools, and most PTA and OTA programs are further out in Irvine or San Diego area and more expensive. I loved this college were one big family. :) read more

Worst school ever They promise you something and they never ever fulfill that promise I got promise since day one They were going to work with my scheduale and when it came time to extership they will work around my work hours and made sure I get those hours done . That day came and I had to keep reminding them about my work scheduale and they said there's nothing they can do about it that if I can quit my job! That really got me so angry because first of all I told them since the beginning I can't quit my job or ask for less hours because I was a single mother! At the end they never help me I was stuck doing the same thing until my externship hours were done it really piss me off because didn't have that opportunity to learn and practice in other sites ! That's not only the problem the teacher I got were the worst , one of them all he did was talking about life and women and and stupid nonsense that didn't have anything to do with the program ! At the end everyone kept failing there state exam because this school and teachers never care and teach instead they neglect us! With their stupid promises , that they will help you find a job , but then when you ask for help they say "oh you have to be certified " and if you do t have your certification there still job , but those jobs are so under payed and there's not a lot anyways . My experience at CBD in the OTA program went from great to bad in 7 months. It was easy to get into school, the professors were great but demanding. I was scrambling to get everything done on a weekly basis. Time management or just high bar to reach? Also i was juggling two jobs to pay for the school and living expenses. The teachers knew but sympathized briefly with me. I was told that all of my credits would transfer to any university college. It was a lie. Im not even sure if CBD college is actually Accredited like they say. Admissions and financial aid were not forthcoming from the start about all the details. It would have probably made me not join at all if i knew everything i knew now about it. I managed to get a job as an ot aide for a few weeks because i was doing this program but i realized it was not my passion. The school was too much to continue for a career i did not care about as much, and i ended up dropping out and have an outstanding balance to pay as well as the loans i took out for the first year. My creditscore tanked with the loans. SO, i dont want to sound like i hate the school but it was not for me. i would say please do your research, make sure the programs they offer are what you really want to do with your life, because you will be in debt after graduation or if you drop out before. Otherwise take the time to go to a college/university. it will be less expensive and with be more credible. This school made me realise i realy wanted to pursue my dream of becoming a nutritionist-registered dietitian even if it will take me years to complete. It is worth it for me. read more
