This is a really bad school for the surgical tech program. It doesn't deserve not one star. All they care about is the money. They pretend to care about the students. I regret attending here. There is a lot of things they do not tell you because it benefits them. Whether you finish the program or not you are still stuck with paying for it. If you file bankruptcy it will not clear your student loans.The staff and instructors are corrupted. I reported an instructor for abusing me mentally, emotionally and harassing me. The program director said she would speak with him and handle the situation. It continued I brought it up to the program director several times it turned out they were friends. Then I thought I could tell the clinical coordinator but he said he couldn't help me, he was also friends with the instructor I reported. When it came down to finals my last instructor told me he couldn't pass me because they asked him not to since I reported the previous instructor. I brought this up to Jim Hayes and Patricia Kouropova. They both said they would help me yet it was just to buy themselves time. They failed to investigate, never viewed the cameras as they said they would. There were documents and finals that they falsified with my signature. I was enrolled without being notify into retaking the last module again but this time with the instructor I had reported. I was threatened to being dropped from the program due to not attending the class I never knew I was enrolled in. I couldn't believe it they set me up. I took a leave of absence, I was forced to because I knew the perverted instructor would be worse with me now knowing I had reported him. Then after insisting to Jim and Patricia finally after months they assigned Gabriela Bray to my case. All the video footage was gone by that time at least that's what i was told. Gabriela was no help either. All of these staff failed to do their jobs, failed to do what was right in order to cover up a dirty instructor, a corrupted school. I requested to speak to the President of the school and never had the chance. The same school, the same people that said they cared about the students are the ones you should watch your back from. Two face. Students that did drugs, cheated on tests, and were constantly absent passed. Passing students like those is what creates so many mistakes in the medical field. I am almost half way done with the program (18 months) and I can't tell you how excited I get when we get in the lab and are practicing and assisting in mock surgeries. Pros: The labs are amazing! They are set up like mock surgery rooms and they have all real equipment that you get to use. Classes are small so we get to be involved every time. The classes are 4 days a week (mon-thur). I am in the day program but they also offer an evening program. What I like about CBD is that they go above and beyond to help their students. I really feel that my education is a priority. Staff are friendly and my instructors are amazing. They have a lot of experience and I know I am getting the training I need to be successful in my new career. It took a while for me to decide to change my career but I now know that I made the right decision. Job placement department has already worked with to help with my interview skills (I can get nervous). Finance department really took the time to explain financial aid so that I knew how I could afford going to school. By the way, the program is one of the cheapest in LA because they are non-profit. Cons: I honesty can't say anything bad! Maybe the fact that they don't offer any online classes but I hear that they are working on that currently. There are also not many lunch options around campus but that's just me being picky. Bottom line: I am getting a top notch education here. I feel like I am being personally looked after which is soooo important. I am almost getting ready to start my clinical rotation and I already feel like I am ready to start working. If you're interested in becoming a surgical tech, this is your school! They also offer other programs and from what I hear and see, other students are happy. Go check it out! read more

I was never really into the medical field.. Well, not until I met the program director of the Pharmacy Technician program, Ms. Hernandez. I'd have to say that the biggest step I've ever taken was joining this program. I know a few who's graduated from this program and are currently employed within their respective externship sites and I have a few friends that are currently in their externship(most of which are already hired because of Ms. Hernandez) and I'd have to say that flashing back to what Ms. Hernandez said to me before I began this program - she really kept her promise for those students, and I'm confident that she will do the same for me. The promise of a career. That being said, through Ms. Hernandez I am currently working in the CBD Building which I would have never attained without her assistance. I am 3months in the program and so far I'd have to say that it's been a wonderful journey. Within those 3months I've learned hundreds of medications, translations, terminologies, and so much more, not to mention the wonderful people that I've met (priceless). Would I recommended this program to anyone? First of all, it's not a magical ride where you just sit in class and wait till you get hired. You have to be willing to put in the work and have "good work ethics" as Ms. Hernandez would always emphasize. If you posses positive attitude and good work ethics you're fully equipped for success. That said, yes - I would 1000% recommend this program to everybody. The biggest regret you could possibly have when you go in this program is not starting it sooner. read more

The school has a kind hearted staff, extremely knowledgeable instructors and most of all very approachable and friendly students. When I went to go take a tour of the school I originally had my eye on DMS (Diagnostic Medical Sonography) but as soon as I heard about how the Pharmacy Technician course had an excellent reputation for enthusiastic instructors and a 98% job placement I was SOLD! Joining the class made me realize if you want something bad enough you will do whatever it takes to reach your goal. Yes, at the beginning you will feel overwhelmed but as you get further and further into the course you will have it down packed. Guaranteed ! Ms. Hernandez and Mr. Stewart are the best instructors I've had throughout my whole education. These two instructors will go out of their way to make sure their students get placed in the right facility that best suits them. I love going to school every single day I always look forward to being in class and being able to learn. Everything you learn in class you will encounter in a real pharmacy setting. Overall, I can honestly say this experience will always be a memorable one and attending CBD has encouraged me to further my education. I would highly recommend Pharmacy Tech to anyone! CBD College MRI Technologist Program Review As a high-achieving student with a 95% overall class score, I expected fair and transparent grading policies from CBD College. Unfortunately, my experience has been frustrating and disappointing. Throughout the program, passing module scores were consistently set at 75%. However, during our final Registry Review course, we were suddenly informed that the final exam required a 90% to pass--regardless of our overall class average. This policy was never disclosed when we first enrolled in the program. As a result, despite scoring an 88% on the final exam and maintaining a 95% class average, I was considered to have failed the course. Now, I am required to repeat the module and retake the final exam, which means additional time and expenses. Adding to the frustration is the fact that the actual ARRT Exam to withhold a license only requires a 75% to pass. It's unreasonable for a school to hold students to a higher standard than the certification exam itself. Overall, the program's sudden grading changes, lack of transparency, and financial burden of retaking modules have left me with a bad impression. A school should support its students, not make success more difficult for those who have already proven themselves. read more

As an alumni and graduate of this great college I can honestly say that my experience was way above my expectations. I came to this school with my expectations that of other schools that I have checked out in the past, I though I was about to experience another dog and pony show... Man was I ever wrong! I spoke to the instructors, to the program director and to the students. The ambiance was completely different from other colleges. I decided to take a chance and enroll and let me tell you I was pushed beyond what I though were my limitations. I wont lie to you, I though about dropping the program but the encouragement I received from my teachers and the clinical director showed me how much they care about their students. So for those haters that like to post negative comments, have the GUTS" to post your name and not be "Anonymous" you have insulted my college and you have insulted ALL of us who have worked hard to get to where. BTW I now have a CAREER, I have a JOB, I have a FUTURE thanks to CBD's dedication to deliver on what they promised. these is a really helpful school and i really recommended because it help me to follow something amazing. i am currently employe by USC hospital and this program of Pharmacy Technician help me to become a Pharmacy tech. license. Mr. Stewart is a great teacher who helps you a lot with everything you need. He is an amazing person as a person and professional. i will always will be grateful to him because he help me to believe in me. I enrolled in this school to try to better my life instead i am stuck with a debt. I kept to myself just trying to focus and pass with no distractions. Eventually there were partner and group activities which i thought was great since in the medical field is mostly about working as team. Anyway my partner and groups received high scores when I did most of the work and got a lower score. There is a lot of favoritism. I brought it up to the staff which only made it worse no investigation was taken my grade wasn't fixed. Instead I was told that this might not be the career for me and I should consider taking a leave of absence. I was advised that if I was to return it should be with a fresh start and no grudges. I was not allowed to take my final and was sent home for the remainder of the course. It is not fair they take away a program I am in debt with and I gain no certificate from. This is just a really bad place to trust. The staff here are all fake and just in it for the money. Please is not worth the time nor the money. Apply to jobs that pay more than the minimum wage you are better of with more luck and no debt. read more

This is the place to be if you wanna start working in the medical field. You have great instructors that will help you with everything you dont understnad. Im attending CBD College at this moment and i do not regret choosing this school at all. Instructors are taking their time to help me understand instruments i cant remember. They wont let you quit and give up. They talk to you and encurage you to keep going. I been reading the comments people been posting and let me tell you all of the negative comments are not true. It disappoints me that theres people here that take their time to put us out there to have a better future, for us to love our job and keep going up in life. But theres people out there that dont appriciate anything and want everything handed to them. They do not know how to go after their goals and just want to complain about everything. Thanks to Mr. K and Mrs. G and my awesome Director Alex I was able to pass the first half of my state boards.. Mrs. Cheryl taught me everything about Ob and I got the best support system with the administration and financial aid department. From the teachers and receptionist to the admission reps and even the CEO Alan and the COO Patricia, THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE CBD COLLEGE.. Anna and Leo from financial aid have already started preparing me for the road to a new me. Nora and Jason in career services have encouraged and helped me maintain a living while in school, through giving me job listings and helping me with my resume..Thanks so much for the guidance and support Earl ,Dora, Christian and Jim. You guys listen to me and work with me. You helped me to find a field that is challenging and gives me the chance to grow and make a difference.. I'm graduating from the MRI program soon. Like many of these reviews, notable flaws are from the horrible financial aid department that you never hear from unless you owe money. Bryan Lopez, the clinical coordinator is on a power trip. I swear I get more threatening messages/emails from him in comparison to an abusive ex girlfriend. He acts like the students aren't paying THOUSANDS of dollars for this program. He preaches communication, but he should really practice what he preaches. Cannot communicate to save his live, then he will act like it's your fault. Bryan is poorly spoken about at all the clinical sites. He may just cost CBD their clinical connections. He sends these students in terrified for clinicals and gives out false information. This and so so much more. The instructors are constantly rotating but they are just about the only thing good about this program. Choose another school, do more research. You're throwing away over $50k if you go here. I am currently enrolled in the Pharmacy Technician program at first I was skeptic studying here but after I first stepped in this campus I felt the vibe in an instant that this is a great school the staffs and instructors are so nice they really help you in what you need and also I will not say that this program is easy it is hard honestly you have to memorize a lot of drugs and also a lot of math but that's what studying is you gotta work hard if you wanna be successful and for the past 2 months that I've been here a lot of my classmates now has a job working in different kinds of pharmacies Walgreens, CVS, Rite Aid and also hospitals and the program director Ms. Hernandez I trust her I really do you just have to work with her be passionate if you want something I can vouch for her since I started in this program she helped me with a lot of things not only on studying or looking for a job but also a role of being a friend. I'm not one to normally post a review, but I felt I needed to after the 2 negative reviews that were posted about this school. I myself am currently a student and have had nothing but a good experience the whole time that I have been enrolled here. The teachers know their stuff and are always willing to help whenever asked. But this is not a place for weakminded individuals to come to, if you are not willing to put in the time and effort they are not going to babysit you, which is exactly how a school should be. If you consistently do your best, and show that you are trying your hardest, you will have no problems achieving what you came here to do. I feel that the negative reviews have come from students who haven't applied themselves and are mad that this school holds you accountable for your actions, which again, I find to be a good thing. People need to remember that this is no longer high school and you will sink or swim based on your actions and nothing else. read more

I would definitely recommend CBD College to anyone and everyone! CBD College was a great experience overall. I recently finished my class hours from the Pharmacy Technician Program and am currently on externship at CVS Pharmacy. I would most definitely recommend the Pharmacy Technician Program to anyone just because of the great knowledge you'll acquire, the great connections you'll make with people of diverse backgrounds, and most importantly because of the amazing program directors, Ms.Hernandez & Mr. Stewart. They both are very great teachers because they make sure you understand the concept wether if it's math, lecture, hands-on, etc. And most importantly they are there to help you throughout any struggle you may have. I strongly advise prospective students to do their research before enrolling at this school. Unfortunately, many graduates struggle to find employment after completing their programs because the school has a poor reputation, particularly in radiology departments throughout the Los Angeles area. Students invest a significant amount of money--often taking on loans of around $63,000--only to find themselves without the job opportunities they were promised. It's incredibly frustrating and disappointing to see so many students left with debt and no clear path forward. Schools should be transparent about job placement rates and career prospects, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. Students deserve honesty and a real return on their investment. I hope future students take this into consideration before making such an important decision. Shame on you, CBD College, for misleading students. read more

I'm 46 years old, and life circumstances have forced me to do a career change at this point in my life. I looked at many schools in the LA area, and even went to interviews with several. CBD College was the only one I found that was non-profit, and seemed genuinely concerned with the education of it's student, over profit. I enrolled in the pharmacy technician program taught by Miss Hernandez. GREAT class. GREAT teacher. This class has students from all walks of like, all ethnicities and all personalities! The class is fun, and educational but most of all everybody helps one another. It's a very supportive environment! Highly recommended, even to those who are scared to get back into school! CBD college is a vocational school with various medical related programs, the program I enrolled in was Pharmacy (Pharmacy Technician). The length of the program is 9 months, 7 months in a class setting and last 2 on an actual extern site. If you put in the effort, the higher the reward you'll get at the end. Enrolling in the program will net you 3 important things if you plan on pursuing the tech route, a license, preparation for ptcb exam, and a job. What you learn in class is what you can expect in the private and public sector, learn to interpret prescriptions, and your top+300 drugs (yes, more than the standard top 200). The instructors/program director make a great effort to prepare you, so big kudos to them!
