I came here because of high recommendation. Personable staff. In the first 10 minutes I was here, I watched the staff work hard on the vehicles while one guy (Jim) answer every phone call and customer that walked in. This is a good old fashioned mechanic shop. No marble floors. No lattes or cappuccinos. A few cracked floor tiles. The mechanics are focused but pay attention to those coming and and going out (in a good way). They're also all dirty... in a good way. And they have a friendly shop dog. That's a plus. read more

I moved recently to the area, and in my USPS address change confirmation mailing, there was a coupon for a free oil change at CBS. I called ahead and Jim let me know the wait, and it was accurate. They were quite busy, and the location property isn't the busiest, so it was interesting watching them play car swap. Oil change was done quickly. Everyone there was really nice. Don't expect any fancy sitting area though since office is tiny. However, the work was done fast. Jim made it a point to let me know that all estimates and checks are free, which is always a nice bonus. read more

BEWARE! Where to begin........ Well my elderly mother uses them to do regular maintenance on her car as she lives down the street and can leave the car and walk home while they work on it. She religiously has her oil changed every 3,000 miles and came to find out they way overcharged her for the oil changes and did work that wasn't needed or charged for work that wasn't done. Well a couple of days ago she called me to inform me that her car was making a loud knocking noise and she was afraid to drive it as she did not want to be left stranded anywhere. She drove the car less than a block from CBS to her home when it started making the knocking noise. After work I went to her house and as I was traveling south bound on 19th Avenue making a right turn onto Campbell Ave to go to my mom's I had to slam on my brakes as a man was J-walking from Circle K to cross Campbell Ave to go to CBS (Rick's) Automotive. He cursed me out and flipped me off for almost hitting him. Turns out it was a mechanic from CBS and he couldn't walk a few extra feet to the crosswalk to legally cross the street and be safe. Anyway........ Went to my mom's started her car and yes it was knocking loud! Opened the hood and checked the oil and the dip stick was dry! CBS changed the oil and did not put any oil back in the motor. Went to CBS to tell them and the mechanic that was J-walking that I almost hit earlier was at the counter. Well he remembered who I was and immediately started arguing with me about almost hitting him. I told him the problem with my mom's car and he said it was probably because my mom's car is old and told me to get out and turned his back on me. I am retaining legal help. Stay tuned. read more

I discovered this garage one day over a year ago when my ignition locked up. The tow truck driver that came to get me asked me where I wanted to go. I told him I had no clue, and asked for a recommendation. He gave me a few options, and mentioned that CBS is where he takes his own cars. I decided to give them a try. It was THE BEST decision I could have made. I have since taken my car in several times to be worked on, and I will continue to give CBS my business. Jim (the owner) is very honest and upfront and will answer any questions you have. He does not try to rope you into work that your car does not need, and is VERY fair with his pricing. If you are in a rush due to work or something, he tries to accomodate you. (The garage is VERY busy tho, and on days when I was not in a rush I did do quite a bit of waiting around. That is truly the only bad thing I would say about them, tho! And I mean, sometimes you just have to wait when people are in front of you.) They have done a number of different things to my car (a 1988 Buick--still runs well but issues tend to crop up on such an old car), and I have been happy with all their work so far. One of this guys customers owns a mini van and they towed it here and they said it needed a fuel pump. This was a chrysler with two pumps in one tank. This shop replaced the wrong pump and sent them down the road and the van broke down later. There was fuel leaking all over the ground because the backyard mechanic this guy hired didnt reinstall the tank and fuel lines properly and broke the line. So this person called them and they charged this woman for the tow to the cost of over $100.00. The van got there and another person stepped in to check out the fuel pump as they removed the tank again because the van didnt run right since it left this shop. After the tank was removed and while this person was watching..this shop had broken the fuel line connector and used a ZIPTIE to keep it pulled into place instead of getting the short fuel line from the dealer to fix it right. SO this mechanic also left the fuel bracket partway un-fastened so it was leaking a small amount of fuel out of the top of the tank and the so when they ordered a new line, he would not pay for the damages his mechanic caused. It took this lady 4 or 5 visits to this shop to fix a fuel pump properly, they didnt fix right and then charged her full price for not replacing both fuel pumps in the first place. They also left one of the exhausts rubber hangers unhooked. The mechanic replaced the wrong pump because Jim does not hire school trained technicians who know what they are doing. JIM SAID THEY DO NOT EVEN HAVE TECHNICAL SUPPORT VIA THE INTERNET FROM EITHER ALLDATA OR MITCHELL ON DEMAND. NO SHOP CAN FUNCTION WITHOUT THESE SERVICES. This shop also damaged the side of this ladies van and instead of having a body shop repair the damages properly.... Jim did a backyard paint repair and left the door in very bad condition and Jim will not repair the damages so this lady is riding around with a nice van and faded and scuffed paint on the door. It looks terrible too. By the time this last visit was done and repairs were finally done right, the lady was so frustrated that she would never go back here. I BEEN IN THIS BUSINESS MANY YEARS AND I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE OF WITNESSING THIS DYSFUNCTIONAL SHOP DO BUSINESS AND IT MAKES ME SICK TO SEE THIS GUY RUNNING A BUSINESS AND CHARGING PEOPLE FOR HALF ASS AUTO REPAIRS. IF YOU GO TO THIS DUMPY LITTLE PLACE, YOURE GOING TO BE SORRY AND THIS IS NO JOKE. He is not honest and I would not pay any attention to any reports you read here because he most likely wrote them. When we were talking about the two pumps, he had no idea which pump did what function in the tank. SCARY. SERIOUSLY BUYER BEWARE. SIGNED A NEW SHOP THAT'S TRULY HONEST AND TRAINED. Ok maybe this was harsh but I am direct....maybe he could be good at some things but customer satisfaction and proper repair techniques is not one. read more

Recently my boyfriend moved to town and had to pass emissions. The truck wasn't quite doing it, so we took it to CBS because I trust them so much. Unfortunately, we spent $800 and 2 months on this, and the problem only got worse. Jim insisted that the truck should be able to pass, but he couldn't figure out the problem. We finally took it to a guy a friend suggested, and the replaced the O2 sensor and the battery. That's all it needed. I'm not sure how Jim could have NOT replaced the O2 sensor . I'm giving them a 3 because of all the good service I've received in the past, but I am disappointed and don't know if I can go back. read more

Horrible!! These guys are awful ! They did a terrible job on my head gasket. Not only that... They used my vehicle as a errand car and when it quit they abandoned it !! I received a ticket for an abandoned vehicle that I had to pay! They never fessed up either! I would never go there again! They also screwed up my Hubby's car! I suggest Millennium Auto Repair across the street! Now they do amazing work. read more

This is by far the best automotive repair shop around..It's so good I drove all the way from Cave Creek, Az. Jim the owner takes pride in what he does! He has a lot of integrity and will be completely upfront and honest with you, While I was there he was doing a lot of work on a 99 BMW that needed a rear passenger axel rebuild along with other allignment things done to it, when the owner left his car he couldn't believe that it was only going to cost him $369.00 after being quoted a price of $800.00!!! While I was there I had my transmission serviced, oil changed, air filter changed and he checked my brake calibers as I had been told I needed new ones which was not the case! Thank goodness I took it to this shop my total bill was less than $100.00 I told Jim I wanted to get at least 200,000 miles out of my car, he told me that would not be a problem as I have taken good care of it and had it serviced as scheduled..I just always went to toyota for service not anymore my business belongs to this garage they are the best!!!! read more
