Located off the 905 freeway. The Cross Border Xpress (CBX) is a pedestrian bridge linking San Diego directly to Tijuana International Airport. It has become super convenient for our family trips specifically to Mexico. They offer plenty of parking options depending on your needs, whether you are staying for a couple of hours or multiple days. You can even reserve your parking spot online ahead of time. If you just need to wait, there are free street/cell phone parking spots, but someone must remain in the vehicle. Just like a regular airport, you can also easily drop off or pick up travelers at the main entrance. The departure and arrival areas are conveniently located adjacent to each other. I love that the arrival side features plenty of eateries and even a Starbucks to grab a quick caffeine fix. Both the restrooms and the lobby are consistently clean, and the lobby offers plenty of seating. You'll also find scales to weight your luggage before checking in if needed. The area feels safe. Overall, we always have a great experience at CBX.

    DO NOT PARK

DO NOT PARK HERE! YOUR CAR WILL BE STOLEN! we left our car with a paid parking spot for 12 days and our car was stolen within a day from dropping it off. Security is in on it. They will not help you after the fact and they denied to refund the 12 days we paid. People stealing the cars are crossing the border with them. DO NOT PARK HERE!

So easy to use if you want to fly out of Tijuana, Mexico, but enter through San Diego. There are many parking lots to choose from if you'll be leaving your car parked there. Lot J is the cheapest, but also the farthest. You can drive right up to the beginning of the terminal drop off for CBX, and pull up to the left for valet too. Once you enter the building, you will need to show your passport. If you're staying 7 days or more, you will need to pay for a permit. The attendants will ask you when you get through the bridge, and they'll show you to the pay pads. Next is where your passport will be stamped, and up the escalators, or elevators, then finally you get to the airline counters to check in bags if needed. The building is very clean, organized, and has plenty of restrooms. I'm totally gonna go this route again next time I'm vacationing anywhere in Mexico.

No better way to get here

We used the CBX cross-border again, and it was amazing, clean, fast, and convenient. Mrs. Yelper Paid for parking ahead of time, which made the prior experience of bad parking. Just go poof. I know we will never fly out of Tijuana without going across the CBX.

We felt safe and secure when we got to this place... it takes you directly into the Mexico airport after you get through security and it was easy to get through. It was an extra 50 bucks each person but I recommend it. We parked our car in the lot for the weekend while we went on a "Cabo trip with our Day Ones"... It was a lot of fun... And safe which is why it took 5 years to convince us to go... CBX made us feel comfortable

And this is why San Diego stays the most superior city of them all!!!!! Flying from TJ can save you HUNDREDS of $$ and CBX has made everything so much easier. The drop off and pick up area is spacious, the check in and security is fast and efficient, and the process itself is so straightforward. Like any other airport, just have all your documents out and it will be a breeze. I will never be flying international from the states again.

When you cross the border via CBX Cross Border Xpress.

We flew in from Mazatlán to Tijuana and used the CBX Cross Border Xpress. This was the first time for us, so didn't know what to expect, but wow am I impressed. It runs very efficiently and especially on the Mexican side, there are employees that guide and assist you through the process (especially us first-timers). It was a bit of a walk, but it just flowed. The highlight was standing within the boundary of each country (see my photo). Once we exited, there was a nice area with tables and chairs where we waited for our ride. In our case, I think the $30 to enter the US using this route was well worth it.

Ask the Community - CBX Cross Border Xpress

I purchased round trip tickets the wrong direction. Since the tickets are good for a year I am wondering if I can use them still (SD to TJ and back). CBX support has not responded to my email inquiry. Any experience in this area?

Hi I just made this mistake too omg. Did they make you buy new tickets with the correct entrance?

Hi! I accidentally selected "7am" for my return time to pick up my car at the CBX parking structure, but meant to select 7pm. Is this an issue? Can I change my return time?…

Hey I have the same issue. Did they still allowed you to park?

Anyone know a very safe place to park nearby that we can leave our car and uber to CBX? We don't want to take a chance trying to park at CBX. Happy to pay but want safety (e.g. lights, gate, attendant).

Lion Parking is good, it is gated and they will take you to CBX.

Can I use CBx if I am taking my underage 5 year old son to his flight out of Tijuana? Only he is flying out of TJ

Can I use sentri to cross the CBX into Tijuana and back?

Sentri is for the vehicles not for CBX. Two different systems.

Can I use the CBX with a US PASSPORT CARD?

YES! I do so in both directions at least once every month. It's MEANT for land (and sea) crossing to Mexico and Canada - and using the CBX bridge is crossing the border by land (since your flights are to and from Tijuana).

Can u cross cbx without passport?would a real ID suffice?

I would say no, because I have the passport card and that is not considered appropriate documentation. You definitely need a passport.

My husband's passport expires in August 2023 but we are flying to Mexico next week 3/23/23. The FMM Form that you are to fill out online is saying that it cannot be entered because it will expire before 6 months from the date. Can we still go?

If you are passing through CBX, you can fill out the form there - before crossing. And if you forget and nobody stops you or asks if you did, you can fill it out on the other side.… Read more

I fly out of CBX every month. There has always been parking in the dirt lots.

Can Sentri be used to cross through CBX into the airport?

Sentri can be used to cross back into the USA through CBX. Only a Mexican passport or resident card can expedite the immigration line into Tijuana airport.

Hello I have been trying to get parking reservations for 2 weeks and I keep getting try another date. Can I do walk up, thank you?

Yes, you can drive there and park in one of the many lots.

I'm a us citizen planning to cross thto Tijuana airport but I don't have a passport will I still be able to cross through cbx?

    Yes you can!

I have a flight out of the Tijuana airport on the morning of Friday, April 15th. Is there a good possibility that I will not find parking on Lots 1 to 3 or even on the additional gravel parking lots?

Hard to predict, but I would say yes very good possibility that parking will be difficult. This is Semana Santa (Holy Week) in Mexico which is the busiest holiday other than Christmas. I would suggest getting dropped off or Uber/Lyft.

Are luggage carts available? And will I be able to cart all my luggage across the bridge to baggage check?

My morning flight was canceled with little to no notice, and from that moment on, everything fell apart. It took nearly six hours for staff to provide any meaningful information or assistance on rebooking or next steps. The lack of urgency, communication, and leadership was shocking. What made it worse was the so called manager, who clearly had no idea how to handle the situation. He was disorganized, unprepared, and ineffective. At one point, another passenger a woman had to step in and literally guide him step by step on how to move forward. That should never happen in a situation involving hundreds of stranded travelers. This trip was especially important to me. My family was already inside the airplane, and I was traveling for my father's birthday, which is now completely ruined due to this late cancellation and incompetence. There was zero empathy shown for passengers with families, time sensitive plans, or special occasions. After hours of waiting, all I was offered was a flight the next day and a single overnight stay, which felt insulting given the disruption, stress, and lost time. No real accountability. No proper compensation. Just delays and excuses. On top of everything, the airport itself is poorly equipped to handle disruptions: * Not enough seating * Very limited charging areas (my phone nearly died) * Overcrowded, chaotic, and uncomfortable * Passengers everywhere visibly frustrated and exhausted This airport clearly lacks competent management and basic passenger support infrastructure. I will never return to Tijuana International Airport (TJ) Airport, and I strongly recommend avoiding it if you value your time, sanity, or travel plans. I'll gladly stick to other airports moving forward and avoid this one at all costs.

I had booked a shuttle, but a minivan car picked us up on the day we left. It wasn't too big of a deal, but I was expecting a large van with more room. Our real issue was when we returned back at LAX after our trip. We had a very long travel day and were looking forward to getting home for some much needed rest. In the PrimeTime shuttle app, it gave specific instructions as to where to go in order to meet our driver. After being on a plane for 11 hours, we made our way onto a crammed bus outside the terminal that took us to the pickup point as per the instructions. However, once at the spot, I found out that our driver was unable to pick us up at that location! WTF. I paid over $160 (each way) and this is what we get? I then called the company and they even verified the location. They then called the driver and said we had curbside service. I was NOT notified about this. So, we wasted about 30-35 minutes leaving the terminal and getting on an uncomforatble bus ride only to be told that we didn't have to do that. We had carried 4 large suitcases, 2 duffle bags, and 4 backpacks and now we were told we had to walk roughly 0.4 miles to a different spot in order for us to be picked up. It was terrible. After all of that, I sent an email to PTS explaining what had happened. Here is how they responded: "After reviewing the reservation, we confirmed that your booking was upgraded free of charge for terminal pick-up instead of the original LAXit Zone 20A location. Unfortunately, this change was not properly communicated to you, which resulted in you having to return from the LAXit area back to the terminal for the pick-up. We completely understand how frustrating and exhausting this situation must have been, especially after arriving from your flight... As a gesture of goodwill and apology, we would like to offer you a $20 promo code for a future ride with us. Please feel free to contact us so we can personally provide the promo code for your next reservation". This felt like a slap in the face. Apparently their lack of communication and professionalism is only worth $20 and that is for any future ride, not off of what I had already paid. Why would I trust any future rides?
