My wife and I were looking for a cheaper way to fly to Cancun and we're so glad we found out about CBX. Not only was it a way to drastically cut our expenses (domestic flights from within Mexico are obviously way cheaper than international flights from LA), but it was such a calm, streamlined, easy operation. We got to the parking lot early for our 7am flight out of Tijuana, walked to the check in terminal & that's where we encountered our one and only 'hiccup.' Because we had 3 children with us, the Viva desk check-in said we needed to speak to a representative but we were told the only one on duty at that time was in the restroom. Luckily the stand alone kiosk on the other side of the area worked out fine. All of this was more of a Viva issue than a CBX one. We breezed through the bridge over the boarder & customs took no time at all. It was one of the quickest customs experiences I've ever had. We got dumped out right at the bag check area & were on for our trip. Coming home was just as easy. We got our bags and followed the well marked signs to CBX to walk over the boarder & do customs. Customs took a tad bit longer than going to Mexico, but that's more of a US thing than CBX. We still got through in was less time than expected, even when arriving on a Friday afternoon before a holiday weekend when I would normally expect huge crowds of people trying to get in to the country. In all, we saved hundreds of dollars even after paying for CBX & parking on location. We will always be using them from here on out for any family trips to Mexico. read more

I have flown out of the Tijuana airport a few times in my life, the most recent time being last week. It was the first time I went to that airport since CBX had been constructed. Hubby and I were headed to Puerto Escondido, which is very expensive and very time-consuming to fly to from the airport in San Diego. However, flight prices and times were much more reasonable from Tijuana. Thanks to CBX, we didn't need to find anyone to cross the border and drive us directly to the airport, especially as our flight departed at 5:40 AM. It was nice to have an easy drop off on this side of the border. Anyway, we were dropped off on the US side, and had pre-purchased CBX tickets online for $50 per person, round trip. I felt that the price was very fair for the staffing and amenities along the way. We had already reserved a rideshare to drive us to CBX, but I saw the secure parking lots and realized that parking there is also a valid, safe option. It appeared that some of the secured parking cost about $30 per day, making it a good option depending how may days you would like to park your car. Anyway, when we entered, there were people guiding us, as it wasn't too crowded at that early hour. You scan your CBX ticket, your boarding pass, and your passport. Then you are able to walk through the barriers. There are escalators and elevators to get to the bridge, and signs stating that there is assistance available for people with disabilities. The bridge was clean and air-conditioned. We walked through customs just prior to entering the Tijuana airport. When I had learned about CBX, I was reluctant. A friend of mine told me that she had walked much further in various airports. It is true. The walk is short and easy Upon coming back to the states, we learned that there were several taco and other food trucks on the US side of CBX, as well as Starbucks and a well-known mall pretzel company. All in all, I am grateful to have a way to access the TJ airoprt in a very easy and affordable way. I plan to continue to use CBX for more affordable flights south of the border. read more

Easy peasy. With CBX, San Diego County basically gets a bonus airport out of TIJ that offers more direct flights, especially to other parts of Mexico. I used CBX to fly from TIJ to San Miguel Allende 10 years ago, and recently to Cancun. Both times were uneventful, exactly how I like my airport experiences to be. Purchase your CBX pass and parking ahead of time. Parking is priced cheapest in the dirt lot and most expensive in the covered/paved lot. I prefer the Goldilocks of uncovered paved in Lot A up front. Upon arrival, scan your CBX ticket and boarding pass (you can link them and just scan boarding pass as well, but don't need to). Same on the way back. read more

So easy to use if you want to fly out of Tijuana, Mexico, but enter through San Diego. There are many parking lots to choose from if you'll be leaving your car parked there. Lot J is the cheapest, but also the farthest. You can drive right up to the beginning of the terminal drop off for CBX, and pull up to the left for valet too. Once you enter the building, you will need to show your passport. If you're staying 7 days or more, you will need to pay for a permit. The attendants will ask you when you get through the bridge, and they'll show you to the pay pads. Next is where your passport will be stamped, and up the escalators, or elevators, then finally you get to the airline counters to check in bags if needed. The building is very clean, organized, and has plenty of restrooms. I'm totally gonna go this route again next time I'm vacationing anywhere in Mexico. read more

Located off the 905 freeway. The Cross Border Xpress (CBX) is a pedestrian bridge linking San Diego directly to Tijuana International Airport. It has become super convenient for our family trips specifically to Mexico. They offer plenty of parking options depending on your needs, whether you are staying for a couple of hours or multiple days. You can even reserve your parking spot online ahead of time. If you just need to wait, there are free street/cell phone parking spots, but someone must remain in the vehicle. Just like a regular airport, you can also easily drop off or pick up travelers at the main entrance. The departure and arrival areas are conveniently located adjacent to each other. I love that the arrival side features plenty of eateries and even a Starbucks to grab a quick caffeine fix. Both the restrooms and the lobby are consistently clean, and the lobby offers plenty of seating. You'll also find scales to weight your luggage before checking in if needed. The area feels safe. Be extremely cautious with the parking lots at CBX. Their QR code system is not just unreliable, it feels intentionally designed to fail, creating the perfect setup to overcharge unsuspecting customers. I used CBX to park my car and depart from Tijuana, but when I attempted to scan the QR code, it simply refused to process payment. Even the valet parking staff couldn't get their own system to work. I immediately sent an email with photos of my car and license plate, clearly explaining the situation. Their response was a set of generic troubleshooting steps that did absolutely nothing. They claimed they would contact me afterward, yet no one ever reached out. Upon returning from my trip, I found a ticket demanding an outrageous amount, far beyond the original fee. This place is absolutely NOT trustworthy. Their system is a trap, their customer service is nonexistent, and their practices feel deliberately predatory. CBX Border Crossing was great. The Parking was HORRIFIC. For $20 a day you get an unpaved dirt and gravel lot with no parking lines and no signage. It was a decently far walk from the airport. When I returned my car was filthy and filled with ants (there was no food or drink left in my car). We recently used CBX for our flight to Cabo, as price difference and convenience of flying domestically in Mexico was well worth it! CBX is basically an extension of the airport terminal, as it is not a standard border crossing, it is for airport passengers only. The process was fairly simple, we purchased our crossing for $35 per person, scanned the code upon entry, then went through security/customs on our into TIJ airport. They have a few separate lanes, so be prepared for which one you need to use. There is one for non-MX passport holders spending less than 7 days in MX, one for the same but more than 7 days and then a lane for MX passport holders. If you are spending more than 7 days, you'll need to complete the additional travel forms. There is a station for that if needed. The CBX is well laid out, in good condition, features clear signage is clean and easy to navigate. Once you complete your steps within CBX, you are dumped out right to security in TIJ. Overall, the process was easy and convenient. When visiting San Diego and making our way into and out of Mexico, CBX is definitely our go to option! read more

The Cross Border Express is the absolute best way to enter and exit Mexico. Drive up, unload your baggage, park in the lot, and walk across the border into Tijuana airport. I've been traveling in and out of Mexico for more than 40 years and haven't ever had such easy border crossings as at the CBX. I arrived early going southbound. I purchased my CBX ticket online as well as my Mexico immigration form and airline ticket. What I did not know is the immigration forms have to be used within 72 hours. Thankfully, once I crossed the pedestrian bridge someone helped me fill out a new form, print it out and pay the fee. The rest went easily, but took a while because of the long lines. Scan your CBX ticket and boarding pass to cross. You will need your passport multiple times. Save your immigration form and fee payment receipt. Cancel the immigration form once you return and before crossing back into the USA. Then be ready to go through immigration, customs, then airport security. Lines for each, so come early. It took me about 90 minutes. Overall, it was easy, and so much nicer than crossing elsewhere and trying to get to the airport. read more

We flew in from Mazatlán to Tijuana and used the CBX Cross Border Xpress. This was the first time for us, so didn't know what to expect, but wow am I impressed. It runs very efficiently and especially on the Mexican side, there are employees that guide and assist you through the process (especially us first-timers). It was a bit of a walk, but it just flowed. The highlight was standing within the boundary of each country (see my photo). Minimal wait times for checking in, the security line, and customs. Easy drop off and pickup for Uber. They also have parking lots on site. It helps to purchase your CBX ticket online in advance so you can just scan and go through the gate. I also recommend you fill out your FMM form in advance online and print it out to help expedite getting into Tijuana. From entering CBX to getting to our plane's gate it was only 30 minutes. The hardest part was the long walk crossing the border in the corridor. Hopefully this was not a fluke and this is how smoothly CBX normally runs. First time using CBX for a flight from Tijuana to Mazatlan. Amazing and easy to navigate. Will definitely use again in the future. It seems like most of the poor reviews about CBX have to do with either parking or the price. For 2 people, I saved about $800 by flying out of TJ instead of LAX, which more than covered the price of CBX. Very impressive! We flew back from Loreto today. From the time we got out of the plane to the time we step foot outside of the CBX was about 15-20 minutes. Not bad at all. As long as you have all your paperwork on hand, things are smooth. Passport and CBX bar code and that's it. It was a great experience. Lots of walking lol, but fast process. Details of our trip- we left out of TJ to Mexico City on a Wednesday morning. 9:30 flight so we got to CBX at around 7, just to be sure. We moved through security and customs in no more than 20 minutes, it was a breeze. On our return, we arrived at around 10 on Saturday night and going back through customs was a breeze again. I heard that there can be some long wait times but that wasn't our experience at all. We will be using the TJ airport for a lot of trips moving forward and will be happy to use the CBX to get there. read more

I don't know why one would rate CBX anything less than five stars. CBX is really helpful for US residents to fly in and out of TIJ. Check out my friend Brad B.'s tips in his review. It is possible that, depending upon where you live, where you want to fly to, and which airline you may prefer, that CBX might not be worth it for you in terms of time and money. I have flown from TIJ twice, and CBX was a great option both times. It's so much faster and easier to cross the border here, especially coming back to the US, but, of course, YMMV. Knowing some Spanish is always useful, but not really necessary when navigating CBX. There are a number of websites that help you navigate the process. On 1/1/26, I had a prepaid reservation to park in Lot E for 8 days. Upon arrival, the entire lot was full. After circling for 40 minutes, I was forced to valet my car, costing an additional $376 on top of the $160 I had already prepaid. I have tried contacting support@crossborderexpress.com multiple times and submitted a complaint form, but I have not received a response. As a loyal customer who has always had a great experience with CBX, I am very disappointed. Please contact me immediately to resolve this issue and refund the extra fees. read more

I crossed the CBX bridge with my daughter when we attempted to travel to Mexico. Although entering the bridge was simple and efficient, we encountered a serious security problem and failed service afterward. The airline, Volaris, cancelled our flight, and refused to rebookit in a timely manner. This left us stranded in the terminal, unable to return to San Diego, board a flight or even exit to Tijuana. We were stranded for over an hour, and spoke to more than half a dozen security guards, CBX and airport employees before we were able to leave. One security guard grabbed my passport out of my hand and tried to walk away with it. We are U.S. citizens travelleing on U.S. passports, but anyone traveling on a foreign passport, Green Card or other documentation could experience worse problems. I have repeatedly tried to contact CBX, but their automated phone line doesn't work, and they send automated non-replies to my emails. CBX staff on the U.S. side were sympathetic once we finally crossed back, but their security system failed and their customer service is nonexistent. read more
