Yes, it has been a while for a review, but now I have a good reason to write one!…read more Had a really hard time finding a barn in my local area that fit my needs which I found surprising since the valley, I assumed, would have a reasonable amount of good boarding facilities just like LA did. Well, not so much. Even though this IS the land of agriculture there just do not seem to be many places, or if there are, they are not advertised properly and one will never find out. I didn't need a training/show barn, but a location with amenities such as turn out, arena and trail access. But I found so much more at Krogh Ranch! The stress of keeping my horse at a personal property location and his care were completely overwhelming me as they were not meeting our needs. Since I work in LA still once a week out of the month, being so far away and worrying about him was driving me and my husband crazy. By chance I happen to find a note on the board of our local feed store of a newer place that was holding a very cool event with training demos, yoga for your horse, dental, all sorts of cool stuff, a BBQ and raffle with prizes. Now this was starting to sound more like a place I'd feel comfortable having my sweet horse/child Easter at! We drove out immediately and after wandering around looking at the facility we were greeted by the husband of the duo. Gave us a tour while the clinic was going on and was so friendly! The facility itself is top notch. Lots of boarding space and room, one LARGE round pen for turnout, two smaller ones for turnout, pastures, an open ring for barrels/jumps, a massive COVERED barn and access to trails and miles of farm roads to meander down including the beautiful Bear Creek. The ranch is gated for everyone's safety and horsey security. A secure tack room and bathroom to boot. They also make sure all horses are vaccinated before coming onto the property, that they are shod on a regular schedule so that they know YOU are a responsible owner as well. Lisa, and now Easter's auntie as I call her, is so committed to everyone's horse care and owner satisfaction. Her many years of experience in boarding and love of horses really shows through. My silly horse cut himself recently as he cast himself rolling when I was in LA for work and she handled the whole emergency scenario for me until I could return a few days later. I am SO confident in her and her husband's care of my horse I never panicked. I was more worried about her being worried and she was! So, do NOT fear if something happens to your pony as we know they all find trouble, your horse's care is their #1 priority! Lots of additional services offered too like fly mask, turnout, mare & foaling care,training and of course med attention if you need assistance with meds/wraps. I can't express how thankful I am to have found this place, not stressing or worrying about your horse is so critical to being a happy horse owner! Also, all the boarders are so welcoming and many have been there FOR YEARS! That is a true testament to Krogh Ranch! :) Give them a call, you and your horsey will NOT be disappointed! My horses boarding time there spanned many years and was filled with wonderful care, special memories and I made life-long friends. I highly recommend Legacy if you're looking to board at a facility that cares about your animal's well-being 24/7, 365 days a year and especially when you can't be there. I trust them inexplicably with my horse's lives. The only reason I left this beautiful facility was to move my horses to acreage on my own property. Otherwise, I'd still be there.

My daughter entered into the horse world via typical horseback lesson experience. She received excellent instruction in rider form at a top riding school but she became bored with just jumping on a horse for the purpose of getting through the transitions and jumps while looking good. She craved a deeper bond with her equine partners. So, being a brand new horse person myself, and only to support my daughter from afar, I found Stephanie in a Google search. I figured some horseback lessons that simulated actual horse ownership would cure the bug. I also decided that since this experience would be more than just tacking up the horse and riding, I decided to take lessons too so I could supervise my daughter from the ground. When my daughter first started riding, I wouldn't even pet the horses, and I was the least likely candidate to be a horse owner, that's how resistant I was to this whole horse fever she caught. I thought for sure these true "horsemanship" lessons would end this nonsense. Well, Stephanie didn't cure the horse bug. She made it worse, it was contagious, and I caught it. She stirred a new passion in my daughter and I that opened up a whole new world where horses are now more than a hobby, we have a new lifestyle. Fast forward to today, we are the humble owners of a beautiful, dramatic, and sensitive thoroughbred gelding and Stephanie is our trainer. Forget thinking that this is your typical trainer situation where the expert does the hard work of training your horse and you come out only to ride and experience the fruit of that labor. Stephanie is teaching US how to train our horse. Her lessons involve us in every part of the equine from the how the horse thinks to how the horse moves - on good days and bad days. Some of our best lessons, even when we first started, have been in (and continue to be in) imperfect conditions where we were making mistakes and Stephanie patiently taught us what was going on with the horse mentally, how we created the situation, and how to correct it. She will not do it for you, and she will make you take it slow to do things right. You can do things fast, or you can do them right. Thankfully, she has the patience and calm demeanor of a saint with kids and nervous, newbie, somewhat resistant, older adults. She would cry if the smallest thing went wrong. She had no confidence in herself or her abilities to do big things. After 5 years with Kristina, my daughter not only has her own horse, but recently participated in her first gymkhana in front of a ton of people. Her confidence level has risen, her confidence in herself has risen, and she knows more about the anatomy, working parts, temperament and personality of a horse than I could ever.
