Because a cold front was coming in and I was traveling, I needed this relatively quickly. She initially quoted me almost 2 weeks but then said she could do it in about 5 days. $30 total paid in advance. When I picked up the coat the button was fixed but the lining was not. At that point I didn't have time to wait a few extra days to fix it, so I paid $30 to resew a button. To be fair it's a solid button but I had to take my coat somewhere else to get the lining fixed before my next Chicago winter trip. If you take your clothes here you should double check everything you requested is actually done

I had two dresses that didn't fit me well and wasn't sure exactly what needed to happen. I called and made an appointment. On my appointment day, I tried on the dresses and Nazia and I discussed where I didn't like the look and what she could do to help. She was very attentive and helpful with her suggestions and questions. She really understood what I didn't like and then was able to recommend a solution. She has a great eye to know what looks "off" with a garment. I appreciated not feeling rushed, and I also really appreciated that she told me the prices up front for everything she was going to do, so I agreed before she started to all the alterations and what they cost. I went on a couple week trip and when I got back, Nazia texted to let me know the items were ready. When I picked them up, I tried them on again, and she asked if everything fit the way I wanted. If I was unhappy with how anything fit after wearing it, she let me know I can always come back! I really appreciated getting to try on the finished items, and that Nazia wanted to make sure I was happy before I left. At my wife's suggestion I brought three of mine to Zan Atelier to see if they could work. The owner, Nazia, primarily does wedding dress alterations, which is much more complicated than altering my suits, but Nazia was "on it." She has a great eye and immediately recognized the the shoulders were too big, and could be shortened to fit my body better. Altough not inexpensive, she refitted all suits for far less than purchasing one new one. I'm so happy that I've already brought her my old summer linen blazer, and new slacks to alter. I trust her much more than the tailors at department stores. She's a great find.

When I went to pick them up, they were still not ready. I had to go back again a few hours later. 2. I asked for snaps to be put in to blouses in between buttons, dress pockets to be removed of two dresses, and a hem to be let down. When I asked to take in a pair of jeans, she said she would charge $75 for taking in a waist down a size. (!!!) 3. When I finally was able to get my clothes, paid (cash only). I took the clothes to my car and noticed she had not removed the pockets. I had to go back in and show her, she accused me of 'wanting work done for free', I had to explain that if the work was done, that would make sense. She refunded a small part.

As someone on the shorter side with a large waist-to-hip ratio, I often need my clothes tailored to get the fit just right. The pricing is very fair at $20 for a hem, $15 for a waist take-in, and varying for a few other services. They are cash only and can provide change if needed. The turn around time varies, but usually is about a week or two. I've never needed anything rushed, but I'm sure they will work with you if needed! I am removing one star only because there have been two times I went to pick up an item on the agreed upon date and the items weren't ready. This was an inconvenience, but hasn't happened in a while. My most recent visit: I dropped off a pair of pants on Monday morning and received a text on Wednesday that the pants were ready for pickup -- a few days early. I don't usually receive a text when the items are ready, but greatly appreciate the increased communication and confirmation! Always glad to support a small business in the area & will continue to do so.
