Memory Care I have been living here for a few months now and…read morehave enjoyed it very much. It is clean, food is good, staff is thoughtful and attentive. I was in another place while waiting for a room here and this is a much nicer environment, especially the staff who are topnotch. My room is one of the large ones on the corner with a living room, a bedroom & a bathroom so I am very comfortable. Even the regular rooms are 'roomy' however, and people are happy with them as well. I am not especially outgoing but have been able to make good friends here with not much effort. Check it out...you will be happy you did!

No choices for those with food dietary issues. You basically eat what you get or go without. Zero security plans in place. First time I was there to visit, no clear "entrance" signs. Was able to walk in through a dining area (with my dog). Not one person saw me or stopped me. Anyone can access this place undetected. The director of this place is horrible. Makes promises but never follows through. She stays in her office and tells workers if any residents ask for her, she's on vacation for two weeks! This by the way has been confirmed by more than two employees. This place needs to be reported for collecting large sums of money for rent, but not providing services that are included and promised. Decent food is one of them! Beware! They use their sale techniques to get you in there, promising all these great things, but once your in there and contract is signed, your treated poorly.

The…read moreowners Marcie and Mert, and their team of loving caregivers has been a God send for our family. My disabled mother came to live with us 8 years ago and languished in bed all day watching TV. My hair stylist told me about Gentog when it opened (her mother is one of the senior caregivers) and my mom started attending once a week at first. She now goes twice a week and has for almost 5 years. Gentog provides great social interaction, but more than that, she's made lifelong friends with the staff and other participants. Since starting Gentog, my mother's health has improved as well. The social interaction alone is a plus, but they were also helpful in connecting us with other senior services. My mom gained a level of independence once they got her started using the TriMet lift bus system, and she now gets books delivered by mail from the local library. They also provide amazing support for caregivers through educational classes, seminars and support groups. We are moving out of state, and one of the hardest parts of this move is leaving Gentog. We will miss their loving care and support tremendously! I'd trust Gentog to care for any of my family members, babies or adults. They are truly amazing!

As with any assisted living setting, there are amazing staff who radiate love for seniors and then there are certain staff who it's clear being there is "just a job." This is true at all senior living communities. The owner is fairly involved in the community from what I understand. It's always discouraging to read grandiose negative reviews when hundreds or thousands of residents and staff have amazingly positive experiences that you never will hear. Definitely check out Woodland Heights if you are looking for an assisted living community in the PDX area!

That wasn't the case. The employees worked well with the residents. It is smart to hire people in the same age group as your residents. Smart, they can relate. It was like one big happy family. The food was great, as residents and staff look well fed and comfortable. The lady running it was very approachable, and nice. Her grandkids must be the envy of the neighborhood. Dad is probably going to become a resident.
