I get my hair cut very rarely and was really excited to try Cedar Hair Studio! The studio is aesthetically pleasing and clean, and the front desk staff is really nice. Also a nice touch that there were snacks and beverages in the waiting area. I was unhappy with my haircut. During the appointment, I told my stylist I wasn't loving it, and she told me to live with it and come back, versus getting it fixed while still there (there was still time left in my appointment). I did end up coming back, and the front desk was super helpful getting me in for another quick appointment! But my hair really was not any better when I left, definitely the worst cut I have had. I've been wearing my hair up since my appointment and even bought my own shears to get rid of the chunks of hair that were hanging lower than the rest. I did like the studio so I would consider giving another stylist a shot! read more

Seems like it could be a nice experience if you don't cause a fuss - beautiful salon, friendly staff other than the experience I'll describe below. The owner, Emily, is extremely defensive to criticism and seems to really put stylists and staff above customers, so if you want to work here you might fare well. I had a nice haircut here and I was so excited to come back for a color appointment, but instead I was lied to and had my credit card unknowingly charged hundreds for a cancelled appointment, only to be gaslit by the owner and receptionist however Over a year ago I was looking for a new salon and got my haircut here over a year ago, and let my stylist do a pretty big chop. We scheduled a balayage/highlights session when I left the salon that day right after I paid for the haircut. ***The receptionist did not have me sign a waiver or enter any information into their system.*** I cancelled the balayage session the day-of because I got sick, and when I called the salon, I was told there might be a convenience charge of $50-70, &that it was the discretion of the stylist whether or not to charge me that fee since it was a late-notice cancellation. Totally understandable, and of course I felt bad for having to cancel last minute. On the cancellation call w the receptionist, she asked for my credit card info so they could put me in the system for when I reschedule. She promised me she would call me back and let me know what the cancellation fee would be, and I was very adamant about asking her to call me back about this, since I was also eager to reschedule. I hang up, waiting for her call back... all of a sudden I see a charge on my CC for ~$200. I called back and the same receptionist answers and pretends she has no idea what I'm talking about. This must be a mistake, I'm thinking, maybe the other receptionist left for the day because it was literally minutes after I hung up the first time. I get in touch with the owner, Emily, and explain the situation over voicemail and email. She told me I must be lying and berated for cancelling my appointment same-day because of how disrespectful to the stylist that is. I had a couple more emails with Emily back and forth but I gave up, they took my money and obviously I didn't reschedule because I obviously couldn't afford to pay twice for a balayage session that I'd been saving up for Now, I totally understand sometimes people are having a bad day, a bad week, etc. and I totally understand that Emily wanted to stand up for her employees. Also, I get that they had to charge me something for the stylists time. I never get my hair done and didn't sign any waiver or policy so I didn't know, but I know now. Had someone acknowledged the "mistake" (seemed very intentional though to collect my credit card info right before you hung up) we might have figured something out, but instead I was met with nastiness, gaslighting, and no hair coloring at all. the main offense was being lied to and then told I'm a liar, and turned away by the business read more

Finding a hair salon can be super difficult when you move to a new city, especially one like Denver that has so many. A friend recommended Cedar Hair Studio and I loved the look of it from pictures I saw. They have a stylist matching form on their website where you tell them a little bit about you and your hair and they recommend a few stylists that may be best. In the end, I booked an appointment with Leah. Leah was very sweet, listened to what I wanted, and checked in with me throughout to make sure we were on the right track. I'm not super high maintenance but loved the way my hair turned out. They use R+Co hair products which I really like, so it was nice to be able to buy some on my way out. They also have a few other fun little things to peruse for yourself or as gifts. They're at very reduced capacity right now and everyone is wearing masks. Hand sanitizer is also at the ready. Additionally, I found street parking right outside the salon. There are a few other cute stores and restaurants nearby which I'll definitely check out the next time I stop in! read more

(additional edit below) I wasn't expecting drastic results- the goal was literally just to blend the grow out and previously applied color (level 8) at the roots to give a more natural look and progression into the bright ends I already had. I definitely wasn't expecting to see noticeable bleached rectangles and chunks in my hair because the foils were placed poorly. I'll let you be the judge. My reply to Emily in the comments: You cant honestly tell me that the harsh lightened areas where the foils were placed is a result of color history? The stylist did a test strand and said she was so surprised and pleased with how well the permanent color lifted and how well the structure of my hair did during the lightening process, this is very evident because the lightened areas are platinum and there is no previous color left ‍. If I am understanding correctly, you are saying that the sections that were placed in foils, in some areas 1" away from my scalp that left sharp angles after lightening to a level 12 platinum, did not need to be addressed before I left the salon? It is your opinion that the stylist should not have consulted with me before letting me leave her chair? My chief complaint is the extremely obvious areas where there are large slices with harsh foil lines. It is definitely clear that these areas lightened well, removed the previous color, and did not damage my hair but were left as is. Is it your opinion that these areas could not have been improved? I am disappointed that as the owner of this shop you immediately shut down my request in your email reply for me to come back in to try to address my concerns, or even try to have a modicum of customer service. In the conclusion of your email you said, "We wish you luck finding a different salon for future appointments," and I was honestly shocked. You presented a "we are right you are wrong" perspective in your email with no alternatives or any effort to work with me to reach a common ground for a resolution. I get it, at the end of the day it's a business and it's an exchange of money for services provided. I understand standing by your employees, as a client, I wish you had more of a propensity to stand by your customers; especially when the outcome (you agree in your email and comment), is not in standing with the desired result as discussed during the consultation. read more

Leah and Chandler drove up to Vail, Colorado, and brought all the supplies to do our hair and makeup. They were kind, professional, and fun to be around that day. And our hair and makeup turned out beautifully!!! Highly recommend their bridal services in addition to their standard fare. Will add photos when we get them back! Previous review: I got a trim with Chelsea - sounds pretty basic, but I'm trying to grow my hair out and am currently in this awkward phase. We had probably 3 or 4 minutes of conversation about what I was struggling with with my hair before she got to work. She took such good care of all my concerns! Some areas needed more of a trim up, others needed a light dusting. She worked quickly but very carefully. She's also a blast to be around. Recently had my hair cut by Bunny. I was a bit nervous because of the coronavirus, but this was my second time since the lockdown and I felt so safe the whole time I was there. Although the salon has always been clean and sanitary, they take extra precautions, like sending customers a Covid form to fill out before their appointment, and taking everyone's temperature when they enter. I know nothing is 100% safe in a pandemic, but I felt great about supporting this local shop because Bunny and the other stylists were working their butts off to make sure everything was clean and socially distanced. I am a teacher with classes half full (I'm an optimist) and I feel much safer in the salon than at my own job. I do hope that they can go up to 50% capacity, because there is plenty of space. read more

Kate is the literal BEST! So so good at what she does and is so easy and fun to talk to. I moved away from Denver in 2022 and never found anyone like her, was so excited to come back this year. She takes the time to figure out exactly what you're looking for and checks in along the way to make sure you're good with everything. She is great at giving an elevated, natural look. As a side note, when I was in a few months ago, she brought out her laptop so I could use it to try and get Noah Kahan tickets; they went on sale during my appointment and my phone was failing me. Emily Anne (sp?) was amazing, listened and cut my hair exactly how I envisioned it, and figured out my hair texture and best way to cut and style it after taking off 10 inches. Not only was I there for half of the day and payed $300, I now have such over processed hair that I can barely touch it without it snapping off and my hair is no where near what I asked for and darker then when I started. Worst experience of my life. Don't go here. My hair is trashed. **i see the owner has no concept of customer service. I was in tears leaving the salon. The picture posted by them vs the picture posted by me in my kitchen on the same day are extremely different. Editing photos to make your people look better? Why would I want to go back to someone who literally made my hair fall out? To fix it? Honestly? Guess I'll see what legal ground I have to stand on to try to get my money back. This is ridiculous. Chandler did a great job cutting my hair! She cut it exactly the way I asked her to and offered helpful advice on my hair.

Overall, this is a nice hair salon. However, I received a mens haircut with highlights and it was almost $300. They charge the same cost as womens hair, despite having significantly less hair and using less product during the haircut. I was quoted around $120 for the haircut and color during this session and it ended up being significantly more. Don't get me wrong, my haircut and highlights look great, but this salon is SIGNIFICANTLY overpriced and they mislead you when it comes to pricing. read more

I always receive compliments on my hair and am in cloud nine when I leave the salon. I had to go thru Chemo and lost most of my hair. I've been hesitant to share with you all: The Amazing Bunny!!! I heart her - she's really attentive and has a wonderful understanding of my hair wishes. I'm often awkward and not articulated enough to express my hair needs. Bunny gets me and I've been seeing her since I moved to Denver. Emily is the best! She has been cutting, coloring and making me look beautiful for years! She also cut my son's hair for years, she cuts and now does balayage on my daughter's hair, oh and she cuts my guy's hair too. She basically makes my whole family look gorgeous. I had a really frustrating and disappointing situation at Cedar Salon. I went in with fairly low expectations because my hair is very dark. I told the stylist that I wanted it to be lighter and break up the darkness, that I wasn't hoping for blonde or anything dramatic but I kept saying I just wanted the color change to be noticeable. As she was drying my hair, I told the stylist that it honestly wasn't what I was hoping for because I couldn't really tell that it had been lightened at all. I could tell she was frustrated with this and she began to get defensive. I was apologizing to her even though it wasn't my fault but I was just trying to keep her happy. Overall the outcome wasn't what I was expecting - I just wanted to be able to tell that I got my hair done. The stylist explained that it was the toner that made it look dark. She said she could retone my hair but was unable to do it that day. At this point I asked if another stylist could retone my hair so I wouldn't have to come back. Things went from bad to worse. At that point the owner of the salon came over and got in my face. I asked if someone could just retone my hair since that's what the stylist said would fix the problem...she quickly corrected me and said that retoning wouldn't fix the issue and that salon wasn't for me. I said I was willing to pay for the service they provided but I just wanted it to be fixed. I even offered to pay for the retone. She told me to leave and that a different salon would need to fix it. When I left they didn't charge me but I have never been to a salon that wasn't willing to fix or change what they had done. I would think again before coming here. They are nice to you until they make a mistake. And when they do they aren't willing to make it right! ****update- I got my hair done at a different salon in the Denver area and it's perfect! 10/10.. when I told them about my experience here they were shocked they wouldn't fix it.. I will say, in my experience working in customer service for 15 years- a good business will make things right and help you. Not lie about the situation. When you're looking for a salon- I hope you consider this. I don't want what happened to me to happen to you:) Most salons will take ownership and have pride in there work and make things better. read more
