Like every other reviewer, it seems, I came to Second Nature because I followed Rachel when she moved salons. The space is beautiful, with cool art on the walls. The location is good--I can usually find parking on the street outside if I drive, and I can get there by bus from my office rather easily. They have online scheduling and reminders to help you keep your appointment. There are comfortable places to sit while your color processes. There's wine if you like. And Rachel is just about the coolest. She is great at what she does, and she's fun to chat with. She can make something nice out of my fine, thin hair--no small feat. After a decade of hair with purple, pink, teal, or some combination of these colors I told Rachel I was ready (finally! finally!) for something new. I wanted her to give me black to silver ombré hair instead. One of my favorite things about Rachel is she's very honest with me about what can and cannot be done with my hair and she straight up told me my hair was too dark to do that without really damaging it. But! Another of my favorite things about Rachel is that she tries to find a way to make my dreams come true so she asked how I would feel about extensions. Truth be told this is not something I would have ever, ever contemplated, but Rachel has recently finished a master class (I think it was even taught by the guy who invented extensions) and after talking it over with her I decided to give it a go. So, I found myself in Rachel's chair for a few hours learning all about extensions. For example, these will last 3 to 5 months. They are really versatile and work for any hair type. They use a keratin bond (and I even learned what that meant.) You can use extensions for color (like I did), for lengthening, for fashion. Maybe other things I don't know about? When you have extensions your hair is crazy thick. At least mine is. And it's actually a really minimal change in the way I care for my hair. It was a bit pinch-y for a couple of days but that grew out quickly and now they are barely even noticeable. Also, I got bangs. I absolutely love my hair. I've gotten so many compliments on it regularly over the past couple of weeks. And while I may not keep this style for a full decade I'm sure it's going to stick around for a while. read more

She used to work at Matthew Morris which is where I originally found her... but when she moved to Second Nature I for sure wanted to stick with her! I had an incredible color correction experience with Mary Beth at Second Nature. I went in with the worst hair of my life and left with the best hair of my life. She was so fun to be around and chat with the entire appointment, she consulted with the other stylists to ensure she had a solid plan of attack to deal with the major issue I was coming in with, and she made me feel safe and seen throughout my time in the salon. It took 4.5 hours to revive my hair and I am in love with the finished product--it's so awesome to have a stylist really commit to doing great work, no matter how long it takes. I have a great 90's party to go to. Rachel Dallmann agreed to cut my hair at 12:30 it is now 2:10 and I haven't been seen. I over heard that she took a coloring instead of a men's cut. $170 over $35. It makes sense but I didn't appreciate it. Venice stepped up and really went above and beyond. Rachel later explained that the schedule didn't not translate to her Mobil hence the confusion but the owners were very sweet and made things good. From 0 stars over all experience to 5 stars with Venice in just 3 hours. I'll just call it 4 for now. They are passionate entrepreneurs and I wish the best for all. We need more strong women business owners and will recommend this place in the future. read more

I came to this salon after Rachel moved there from a different salon. She's the only person I trust with my hair. She's incredibly talented and cares about her customers. She also goes out of her way to work with customers (ie- last year I canceled last minute due to a pet emergency and she totally understood. Or, the one time in the 7 years I've been going there, I didn't love the color, she had me come back in and adjusted it, no charge/no problem. I tell her I want natural and to be able to go months without coming back due to budget, she nails it!). You get the picture... Point is, I feel lucky to have found someone who is both incredibly talented and also someone who feels like a friend! Since this rating is about the salon, I'll say, I've been there once so far, everyone was super friendly and professional. I've been seeing Rachel since the early days of Babooshka, and would happily follow her just about anywhere she decided to set up shop. Besides being a complete hair genius, she's also just a super cool person. A couple hours in her chair goes by quickly with a glass of wine & the easy conversation, and you'll walk out feeling like a million bucks afterward. I just had my first appointment with her at Second Nature, and the new location is pretty nice. Cement countertops, painted tile ceilings, comfy chairs and bright white walls that give the place a really fun vibe. They're also right across the street from a cute little coffee shop so I was able to grab a latte when I ended up getting to my appointment earlier than I expected. I would definitely recommend giving Rachel and Second Nature a try - I (and my hair) have never been happier with a stylist :) read more

I've gone to Venice 3? times now and each experience is even better than the last. She is an actual hair goddess. And so funny and sweet. She helped me with a color correction (poorly placed, poor color for my skin, chunky highlights) and gave me the best color of my life that looked so lived in but somehow simultaneously so fresh and clean. I thought it would be a whole process to correct, but she gave me a gorgeous transformation in one session. So skilled. She also took me from a side part to a center part, which I never thought I could do with my face shape. Changed my world. Cut and color by her - next level. She also introduced me to Kelby for my keratin blowouts (I'm a frizz ball) and he is equally amazing. Best blowout I've ever had. It's been almost 6 months and I'm only just starting to get a hint of frizz horns. For prior blowouts elsewhere, I frizz bad at the ~3 month mark. He works so skillfully - outstanding. Also there is a super cute coffee shop across the street and easy parking nearby. Definitely try them out! read more

I found this salon by looking on insta with #denvershag and it took me to Rachel Lawheads professional page. I was visiting from out of town and haven't had a proper haircut in years because of bad experiences but going through her feed I felt confident. As soon as Rachel had me in her chair I felt totally at ease as we spoke the same language, she listened to what I had to say and was excited to get to work. Saw Venice today and my hair has never looked better! I was a little nervous going to a salon for the first time since early March she put me at easy. The place was very clean and everyone was in mask. They had everyone distanced and only 4 stylist working so a total of 8 people which I was happy to see. I'm giving the salon a 2 stars because I had a terrible experience with Jessica Duardo who charged me for a haircut, balayage, and color $290 without the tip off course tip was added - I left the salon with a trim, which I accepted since she wasn't going to cut my hair stating leave it simple and long. She said the balayage she put in my hair will become lighter as I wash it. Also she made my hair darker. I left thinking ok balayage will lighten it up. After I washed my hair it was still dark, i noticed also some split ends since she literally trimmed the bottom dead ends but I was able to find more. Also after I washed my hair and style was gone it was just a choppy trim. I texted her to ask if she can add more balayage and correct the darkness if my hair somehow - she ignored me 2 weeks. Then I texted again she said she has no time to deal with it since she's v busy. I was upset - i called the salon since the ladies / owners and others seems super nice - got the front desk whom I told the story to. She seems nice and said she'll have the owners call me. No one did. I received a text from Jessica arguing admitting she didn't put balayage in my hair she said she mentioned to me she'll add it gradually. Completely twisted the story - first time I hear that. I consulted a professional hair dresser and he said there's no such thing - it's either balayage or not. Looking at the salons policy - if a client is unhappy they want them back in 2 weeks max. Their price list is a lot cheaper than Jessica - she lies. Don't go to Jessica pls as a new client. She also refuses to see more then one of two clients a day yet pretends she's busy. It's truly disappointing to say the least that they won't even call me to correct what she did. That's why I'm giving them a 2 star. They let her get away with it. read more

I have gone to Rachel Dallman for probably six years now. She is the absolute best. She's super efficient. She is faster than any other hairdresser I have ever been to. She is also adorable, totally current, amazing with color, super fun and interesting to talk to, and she always includes a great blowout complete with curling and really useful tips on how to style my hair - And she styles it different every time and will take requests on styles. I have learned a ton from her on how to do my own hair and find the time I spend with her invaluable.
