First let me say that the doctor Duhon (who seems to get the brunt of the criticism - I've never met him) doesn't seem to be at this center any more. Just see the page - translate sleepdoctor and dot and com The only doctor I had been seeing (Dr. Das) at the center is at a different address, on Bee Cave Road near downtown. You can see their website at ansaustin dot com Dr. Das is fabulous, talented and genuine. She has a brilliant and powerful intuition about how to heal patients. And at the same time she's a very kind soul. She has helped me enormously. I trust her implicitly and of course make sure to exactly follow her recommendations. I will admit that one or two times I had to call her on her decisions. There are times when each of us needs to stand up for what we think with any doctor we might be seeing. Such as the basis for side effects. But I can be a pushy broad when it comes to my health and in my experience that's the sort of problem I've had with most doctors over the years. My first visit with a different doctor in that same center was not helpful. Probably a personality conflict between us. Being able to see Dr. Das made up for all of that. She's a bit concerned with prescribing controlled medications that may put her under the scope of the absurdity of the state of Texas. My take, after moving here 3 years ago from California - Texas is a scary place for getting medical treatments OR needed medications. I've run into some absolutely awful doctors I've never experienced elsewhere - a mixed brew. And I'm a 62 year-old broad. Jeez

I scheduled a sleep study and everything went smoothly. They called to say that I did have sleep apnea and I would need a second sleep study with a CPAP to determine if that would help my symptoms. I came in and again everything went smoothly. But then communication stopped entirely. No one called about the results of the second sleep study. There was no prescription ever written for the CPAP or any other device. I tried calling but no one ever returned my calls. It's been almost a year since my sleep study and I still don't have answers.

My mom was struggling physically/mentally and would just moan. One caregiver told her to be quiet multiple times. Another one refused to help because she had asked for too much help. One was busy on her phone and didn't bother to put my mom to bed so my mom fell asleep on her recliner. I tried to talk to the person assigned to me for staffing and she didn't answer texts/calls. I cancelled with her because the people that they were sending were so bad, that it was better to have no one. I got no answer till after the weekend and I was told that I needed to give more notice. I explained that I tried to give notice, but that person wasn't answering their phone. They sent one last person out that they claimed was their best and no one had every complained. After that person got my mom to sleep, she turned tv to the station she wanted (in room next to my mom) and then started calling friends on the phone and talking loudly over the tv. Find your own caregivers. Staffing agencies send people that couldn't get jobs on their own.

I finally had a good night sleep! The team that worked around the clock to take care of my grandmother was so warm, lovable and competent. I spent many hours there with them. They took care of everything in her home from laundry, cleaning, bathing to just hanging out and listening to her stories. It's nice to be comfortable with caregivers when they start out strangers and now feel like family. We had a previous experience with a home health company so I was reluctant to hire another. The former sent an aide that was sick and asleep when I stopped by. Are you kidding me, this was completely inappropriate - as they inspected our property before coming out and we were not the caregivers employer. We were losing our father and we were in no way financially responsible for this incident nor could we handle this kind of issue while facing the death of our father.
