Arrogant and tried to bill me over $200 for a 30 second "consultation" where we BOTH addressed the obvious shortfalls of my cattle corral.

You have to buzz to get security to let you in, which is kind of off putting right from the start. And the first question they ask is if your pet could have ingested weed, which is I'm sure way too common. The nurse and vet were very kind and fairly quick, but before they even come in, they bring a credit card machine in for payment. I guess I understand that's the awful world we live in now, but it sure doesn't sit well when your pet is sitting on the table in pain but nothing an be done until payment is made. But once we started the process, they bounced in and out with diagnosis, suggestions for treatment, and itemized statements showing the extreme rising costs of the visit. The vet was very thorough and detailed in explanation, but we ultimately decided to take our dog home and to our local vet Monday morning, who basically disagreed with the diagnosis we received and went with a separate treatment plan. So around $1000 later, we at least had piece of mind that it wasn't life threatening. But ouch. I would definitely try a different emergency clinic next time.

We moved to Tulsa in December '23, with a 6 year old, Czech import German Shepherd that we'd had for a few months. She had been used for breeding, required a C-section, and was no longer useful to the breeder. As a rescue, the breeder was familiar with us (we own her daughter), so he contacted us and surrendered her to us. We had her thoroughly vetted when she arrived in Oklahoma. After a few weeks in our home we contacted our trainer and got her into training as soon as possible. She was sweet and a good member of our pack, but largely unsocialized. When we brought her home it was time to address the last step in preparing her for her new life in our home, having her spayed. We made an appointment with Dr Thomas. After anesthetizing her the doctor tried to call us to tell us that she had a spay scar. When we called him back we discussed the c-section scar and decided to wait a week or so and start over. When we picked her up we found that while he had her anesthetized, he decided to perform surgery on her eyelid for some small defect I had not even noticed and we had not approved. I wish I had seen the red flag. Two weeks later we dropped her off to be spayed. We called to see if she was ready to be picked up and were told to wait until five. I walked over to pick her up a little before five and immediately noticed that she looked unstable. Her gums were pale and I asked if I should run her to Oklahoma Veterinary Specialists. Dr Thomas said no, took her back into his office and started IV fluids. After wasting what turned out to be the last 30 minutes I had to save her, he sent us home with a vet tech carrying the IV bag. I helped the still unstable dog. When we got to the door the vet tech gave me the IV bag and we've never heard from them again. After observing her for a couple of minutes I put her in the car and raced to OVS, calling to let them know the situation and that we were headed their way. Dr Hodges, who has helped us many times in emergencies, stayed and waited for us, rushing us in when we arrived. He worked on her for another 30 minutes. She coded twice and was unable to be revived a second time. She died of blood loss from internal bleeding. Dr.Thomas or his office never called to see how she was. We filed a complaint with the State Board. Imagine the State Board of Veterinary Medicine being unresponsive in the State of Oklahoma. Would you expect anything else? If you love your pet, stay away from Dr Chet Thomas and City Veterinary Hospital at 36th and Peoria. I wish we had. We obviously live close by and every time I see that building I feel sad and angry all over again.

She was a senior bunny and gi stasis kicked in from what the tech told me though it wasn't definitive. She did pass away. The staff was kind and compassionate. My daughter and I went yesterday to get her body to bury her. The staff was still compassionate and kind. It was a horrible ending to what I hope would be her coming home with me. I am so sad but I would take any of my animals back there. I had a great experience with staff...Just unfortunately my bunny didnt make it. She was stable at least 4 hours after her surgery. Sometimes rabbits are so fragile. We wrapped her in a blanket that said I love you. Wrote letters and put flowers on her. They gave us a little coffin box with her name in pretty letters. She is now resting with my other bunny who died in 2022. I am sad of course but...the Neel team from entrance to exit..was wonderful.

I contacted the manufacturer of the product and they have a veterinarian consultant who informed me to get the dog to a vet asap. This is a vet who is familiar with the product and effects. I go to Neels and they want us to call a disease center which costs $89 just to start a new case for the Neel vet to consult with. Why? The Neel vet didn't want to talk to the vet associated with the product manufacturer who knows the product. That's the first red flag. Next they want to keep the dog overnight and charge upwards of $1500. So the tech who was explaining the vets treatment plan finally says after I balk on the expensive treatment, " You could give her some Milk of Magnesium." It's all about the money. More background on this. When I talked to the vet associated with the manufacturer they said the dog would have some symptoms between 15 minutes and 4hours of ingesting. I told him she vomited 3 times. He said to have her checked out immediately. He set up a case and said to have the vet call him. So the trip to Neel. I gave them the phone number and case number, but they didn't want to call them. Neel said they have to call the hotline that wanted to charge me.

Dr. Walker performed the surgery flawlessly, and thanks to Dr. Granone, who oversaw his anesthesia, and Ashley, who managed it during surgery, I knew he was in the safest hands possible. Post-op, his recovery was nurtured by the most compassionate nursing care I could ask for--Andrea, Calista, and Jenna went above and beyond every single day. They treated Sampson like family, not just a patient. I got the best updates and pictures from them which helped me feel at ease Without this team, I would have lost a piece of me. My dog was not simply a pet -- he was a beloved member of my family for over 10 years and an important part of my daughter's childhood. However, when I arrived on February 24, 2026, to pick up his ashes, I was informed that the paw and nose prints had been lost. I was further told by the front desk employee that the prints were merely a "courtesy" and not included in the cremation cost. While I understand policies may vary, the issue is not whether the prints were included in the price. The issue is that I was explicitly told they would be provided. I was given the expectation that something meaningful and irreplaceable would be preserved -- and that commitment was not honored. If this was truly a courtesy, it should not have been presented to me as a promised memorial item. Informing a grieving family that something special will be done, only to later admit it was lost, adds unnecessary pain to an already heartbreaking situation. There is no opportunity now to recreate those prints. That moment has passed forever. During one of the most vulnerable experiences a family can endure, compassion and care matter deeply. The response I received lacked empathy and professionalism, which only compounded the grief my family is experiencing. I am deeply disappointed in how this was handled.
