As stated below on previous post, mine was not a big job but Fernando who installed it was top notch, extremely pleasant and got the job done in spite of the on and off rain. Very pleased with the results. Only regret was not doing it sooner. Great quality product! (1st contact: 6/4/26) This is a review of the "salesman" Bob, who came to give us our estimate. The 5 stars is not for the installation or fence .. yet. I know of the product and installation of based on a neighbor and other installations and how they hold up over time. Bob was excellent. He was straight forward, knowledgeable, really knew his product and gave us great recommendations. He did not push upsells. We had an idea what we wanted and he was able to guide us to not do things that may not be aesthetically pleasing or take away from our home. Even though we were small potatoes as far as what we wanted, he treated us like we were one of his larger jobs. I will update when we get it installed mid August. They left a tarp on my front lawn which caused a giant scorched square in the lawn. If I had a nickel for every time I had to tell them to put a level on the fence, I would be rich. The sales agent did not give an "itemized" quote after looking over the yard. All we got was one price for all worked needed to be done. The price of old fence removal was included but there is no way of us knowing how much it actually was. I decided to take down the remaining half that was left standing after the storms 1 day prior to fence installation. Which is about 85 feet of 30 year old wood fence. The fence installers do not speak much english. They knew some. At the end they made us sign a form stating work was completed. Why was the bill not adjusted on the spot because I took down the old fence? About a week later Karla (the bill payment person) decides to take just only $200 off our final bill. For the amount of work involving removal & disposal, I would have thought I was saving about double that. read more

This is my second fence from Cedar Rustic. Almost 20 years later and the yard at our new home is much larger than before (3/4 acre)I was expecting the cost to through the roof and I was wrong. Their cost is extremely reasonable probably because everything is made in house in the US, which I appreciate. And allowed my budget room to add on a cedar arbor at the back gate! (Pics to come soon!) Prior to meeting with our salesman Bob, I thought I wanted a black aluminum fence. With his expertise, eye for style and detail he guided me to the bronze aluminum color fence which would not disrupt our view. I have to admit, seeing it on the website, in the brochure and as a panel in the back of his car didn't do it much justice until BAM.... He put it next to the bushes and trees that surround our property. Needless to say, I was obsessed with the color. And my neighbors love it so much that they want to redo their fence the same as ours. Since we only fenced in 1/2 of our yard, he recommended to place the arbor on the outside of the gate as a safety precaution since we plan on adopting another dog and potentially the new dog may be a climber. What a great suggestion! Although technology has changed, it's nice to know their customer service has not. From sales to scheduling to installation they were all so professional. The installation techs were super detailed and didn't miss a beat. I love how the fence seamlessly flows through the yard and does not stair step. Highly recommend!! read more

Had a guy come out to do an estimate. My yard backs to an alley. Had some railroad ties put up when we got first fence done in 2008. Some are leaning. He stated he would have to have his supervisor come out and evaluate if they could do it. No phone call. I even emailed the guy. No reply. Been 3 weeks. Going with Wallenberg Family Construction instead. Contacted them Monday, already have a proposal. They can take care of the railroad ties too. So I guess I should thank Cedar Rustic for making me look elsewhere. read more

My current fence was installed by Cedar Rustic on May 10th, 2010. It has stood tall and firm for 15 years thru everything that Mother Nature could throw at it. This year for the first time, three of the posts needed replacement. I called the company and received a reasonable quote for the work. There were several unavoidable weather delays ( it's January, after all), and the replacements were done today. Very professional work, and clean-up was complete and thorough. I had removed some decorative rock near the base of one of the posts to make it easier for the work to be done. The Company's installer went through the extra effort of putting all the rock back in place. This is behavior shown by people that care about their work. Too many today wouldn't bother. Cedar Rustic has very good products and good installers. I recommend them for any fence work that you may need. Kara was my contact at the company. She kept me informed of all activities by email and phone call. She can do the same for you too. read more

I had a fence installed last fall and was promised multiple times installation would be completed in one day. Installation took two days to complete. The installer did not install the fence as originally agreed upon and did not complete the job. It took five weeks and multiple calls to complete the fence as requested. Customer service is horrible. read more

The fence was affordable. I am pleased with it. However, the installers left a huge mess on the fence line, leaving rocks and dirt that are unsightly. I called several times, was asked to send pictures, and had a man come out for ten minutes to say there was nothing he would do. I called back and was assured a manager would call me. We could not be happier with Cedar Rustic! During the quoting process, we found that some companies weren't very responsive--and a few even claimed to offer all-cedar fences, only for us to find out that wasn't entirely true upon asking more detailed questions. Greg, our salesman, was incredibly patient with our long list of inquiries, and we really appreciated his honesty and professionalism. The fence turned out absolutely beautiful--we'll let the pictures speak for themselves! The installation crew was fantastic, too. They did my fence about 10 years ago. A lot of my 4x4 fence posts are only 6 feet in length. They didn't use any concrete. I was able to pull the posts up out of the ground by hand. Other parts of the yard where they used concrete I have no problems. It doesn't matter when it was installed. Bad workmanship is bad workmanship. read more

On June 11, 2025, had Cedar Rustic Fence company install a white vinyl fence around my backyard. After the installation, the installers asked me to sign the work completion documents. I refused to because the gate part of the fence was visibly lopsided, there was a 20 degree incline on one side, and another side of the fence was leaning into my neighbors yard. They were not english speaking workers (first problem). Not because I don't think non-English speakers should be employed, but because every organization is responsible for ensuring customers can communicate their concerns and/or ask questions. They could not oblige in either way. I then began calling Cedar Rustic to share my concerns and I was told that someone would call me back. On my 4th call, I informed the Kelly, the phone rep, that a $12,000 fence should stand upright and be even and that I was going to dispute the charges on my credit care. She became more exasperated than me and assured me that I would receive a call back from the owner. Fiver calls and two weeks later, I still did not hear from anyone. My village inspectors came out to do a post inspection and did not approve the work, citing it as subpar. I called Cedar Rustic back to make them aware of the failed inspection and Greg, the manager, thought it was a good idea to threaten me with a lawsuit. It wasn't and I welcomed it. I would love to stand in front of a judge with pictures, videos, the village's professional report of their subpar installation. His behavior is so typical of a company that does substandard work, but those threats do not work for people who can articulate a company's negligence and advocate unapologetically for quality service. I absolutely disputed my credit card charges (that were reversed). The lesson here is for people who have the ability to use a credit card, please do because companies of this caliber certainly won't refund your money and will definitely ignore you. Only money makes them attend to you and be responsive. read more

We just had Cedar Rustic replace a cedar fence they installed on our property 24 years ago. We went with a slightly different design that turned out beautifully. They removed the old fence and installed the new one all in one day. They installers were right on time and did a fantastic job. I've only had my fence for about a week, so I cannot comment on the longevity, but so far everything is wonderful. Our salesperson, Kim, came out in July and was upfront about not being able to service us until January. We sought out more quotes, but quickly learned that most companies were booked. The quote was within our budget and we heard good things about them, so we put down a deposit. I can agree with some of the other reviews that this company has issues with communication. As I mentioned, I paid in July and didn't hear anything from the company at all. I had to contact them several times to confirm the date and time. I honestly expected them to flake, but no the installers were there at the promised time and they worked steadily and finished right before it became dark outside. The fence looks fantastic and has survived the first snowstorm of the season. I'll give it a year and if the fence still looks amazing, I may use them again to replace my pergola. read more

The workers who installed the fence, were great. But the rest leaves a lot to be desired! Of our 3 gates, they all drag while trying to open them. Joe (salesman) will take weeks or months to get back to you. There is no communication from the office. You have to call to see when they will be starting. Then that date will change without notice. They started digging before JULIE even came out. Our fence was installed 3 week ago. And I still haven't heard back from their office. When the work said I needed to call the office, in regards to adding a gate. I called their office last week (Wednesday) regarding the fence panels popping out as they were nailed in holding 2 boards together by only 1 nail and someone was suppose to call back and still nothing meanwhile my 2 puppies have gotten through the fence panels twice now. There has been zero follow up from the company at all. As though they sold the job. Gave it to a subcontractor and said "do it" for a company that's been around as they as they have. We love our fence and I wish I could give a 5 star review but the complete lack of customer service is a 1 star. I would give them no stars if possible. When we had the drecho storm come through our area in the late summer we lost part of our fence due to a tree falling on it. My husband and I both called multiple times and left countless voicemails and emails but never received a response back. Finally we got ahold of someone and they told us they didn't have any supplies and aren't doing any fences until next year and then hung up. A complete lack of disrespect for their customers. So we still have 2 missing panels and we will be fixing it ourselves. If you care about customer service at all do not go with them. read more

Called them for a quote based on a personal reference. They were efficient to schedule an appointment. Once I was contacted to schedule the appointment, they said "Joey" would be the representative of Cedar Rustic at the appointment. "Joey" may have shown up, I cannot say for sure as he never gave me a card or his name. He took two measurements and when we returned to the inside of my house I inquired if he wanted a copy of the land survey. He said no. He then retreated to his car and in about ten minutes he left. No discussion on the product, warranty, installation, permit(s), etc.. I know Cedar Rustic was recommended to me but my experience with them and "Joey", was not good. We decided not to call anyone else and waited patiently for Cedar Rustic. The appointment was for 9am. I had to call the office at 11:30 to see if anyone was coming. After contacting Cedar Rustic, their team came into my yard. First they knocked down and hauled away my 24 year old fence which was about the fall down. They started unloading prebuilt fence sections, and had new postholes dug by noon. They finished the fences, with gates I asked them to make sure were wide enough for my to drive my tractor through for yard work. Everything went well. They cleaned up after themselves, and I had a safe back yard for my puppies. Now after a year, I will coat it with cedar stain to match the neighbors fence. Bought my home and had a fence installed. We did some landscaping and had to remove the post for the bobcat to get in the back yard. The post was damaged upon removal from the landscaper. I called around and no one wanted to help since they did not install the fence. I am currently in the middle of an installation and they cut through a clearly marked Comcast line. My wife and I work from home so this is a huge inconvenience. When calling the manager, I was told that the manager was gone for the day. This is 11am on a Monday. When talking to the secretary, I was told what I needed to do to make it right. At no time was an apology given for the trouble. At this point I tried to reach out to our previously friendly sales rep, Anthony, who told me that he has very little time to talk for he was on his way to a meeting. After I initially explained the problem, he cut me off to explain how they don't know who is at fault, etc. while I was trying to tell him that I had photographic proof of the problem, he again cut me off saying that he needs to go to a meeting. Again, I acknowledge that fault isn't something they can admit to for liability issues, however, apologizing for inconvenience doesn't cost the company a thing. All I needed to hear was "this will get taken care of". Instead all I heard was "I don't have time, no one is here to help you, we will get back to you." So after speaking with the installers, a gentlemen named Isreal made it right. Our line is currently fixed. I am sure that Comcast will come out to provide a replacement line later, but for now, my wife and I are able to work from home while they finish the install. The manager, secretary, and sales rep can all learn from the service mindset of Isreal, who found a way to make it right. When it comes time to finish this job next year, I wonder if Anthony (Sales rep)will have the time to speak to me then, or if he will be hurriedly on his way to a meeting? Update: After further communication breakdowns with the manager (look who showed up!) and no one showing up at 9 am the next day to finish the job, the owner, Greg, came by and listened. He also apologized for the inconvenience and made sure the job was finished correctly. He also asked if things were resolved with Comcast. The fence is now finished and beautiful, but I'm glad that whole experience is over. We are undecided if we will go with them to finish the other side next year. Although we are happy with the end result, and would love the whole job to match, the brush-off treatment we got in the meantime was epically annoying, and only resolved when the owner got involved. read more

So far, so good! Debbie was my sales rep. and I'll say, she was very responsive when I had additional questions. I would text her and she'd respond quickly. Our cedar fence went up on August 28, 2018. Three men arrived between 8 & 8:30 and quickly went to work tearing down the old monstrosity. It took all day and they got poured on the last hour. I am a 2-time customer for fence installation. In Mid-November my gate latch broke and I called them for repair. Had to wait a month but was scheduled for Dec. 16th. Becaue the gate was blowing open, I placed patio blocks on either side of the gate to keep it closed and protect it from blowing. When I came home from work on Dec 16th, I saw that their guy had been there but nothing was done and waited for them to call me with the results. No call. After 3 days I called the and left a vm to call me. This was done 2 more times and no call. Last week during the high winds over Xmas. the gate blew totally off it hinges since he removed the pavers I had placed there. Now I have notonly a broken latch but a totally uselass gate. I have called but they don't answer but ask to leave a vm, which I did. This is how a previous customer is treated? Ive seen numerous bad reviews and not once have they ever responded to try to make things right. That tells me "They don't care. Stay away from them!!! read more

We had a fence installed in 2017 after receiving multiple quotes. We went with cedar rustic because we felt the value was good and the extra addition of removable panels was a nice touch. Almost immediately after installation, we found the panels to not be functioning and we contacted the company. They said the wrong parts were used. We contacted every year since trying to get it fixed and were either ignored or given some excuse as to why it could not be repaired. Now, four years later, a service employee came to bring the correct part and informed me it would leave holes in the fence. I did not agree to that and the company said they would not spend thousands to replace the portions of fence. I had to threaten legal action to get a response. So now a manager came out to check it and we were just told that the initial parts used were the correct parts and the he did just enough to get the panel to come off and on. The pieces are still loose. The post still has a split in it. It will take 2-3 people to operate. He had to saw off part of the wood to make it "function" and the bolts are bent and hanging from the area they are screwed into. Why were we told on that first call that the incorrect parts were used? Why has the story changed? I don't trust this company and you shouldn't either. A fence is an expensive investment and you should be able to trust that you will receive that you paid for. I do want to say, the fence looks nice, but the experience, removable portion, and horrible service made it not worth the business. read more

My entire experience with this company was top notch. The salesman took special care to help me decide on material, color, gate locations, etc. Because they fabricate their own fencing, my estimate was $5k less than anyone else. I had vinyl privacy fencing and picket fencing installed around my patio and yard yesterday and it looks fantastic. MY 2 back yard neighbors had fences installed on same day. Cedar rustic decided to use my back yard as a staging area and had their fence panels all over the yard. They installed one of the fences a few feet over the property line on my side. I arrived home to find this and spoke to the crew leader who stated they were installed in right location. I called cedar rustic and someone came out to the site but never told me who he was when i asked. He admitted they were over the property line and told me it would be fixed. He also told me the mess would be cleaned up and that all the holes on my property would be filled and either seeded or sod placed so as to look as if nothing had happened and that my property would be fixed before the job was finished. That was approx. the first week of September 2022 and it is now April 24, 2023 and nothing fixed. My wife and I picked up several dozens of nails and 2 buckets full of splintered wood after they moved the fence over and had left. The holes did not get filled or seeded or sod as promised. I spoke to cedar rustic 8 times in the weeks after installation and was assured it would be taken care of. I had asked about a price to put up a removeable section of fence to cover up the bump out they made did to get around a sewer grate. I spoke to the employee about this and told him I did not want it like this and would pay for something more pleasing to look at. So now I have part of the neighbors property on my side of the fence because of the bump out they did. I have contacted cedar rustic approx 20 times with no response as to what can be done about the look of the fence by the drain or about when my yard will be made right as they had promissed. I guess since it was my yard they damaged and not the yard of their customer, they dont care. read more

First time I've ever written a review many years after an initial installation, but here's why: Installation was something less than 16 years ago; guessing 12-14-ish? The installers realized part way through that some parts were the wrong size, which meant the gate was in the wrong place. When I asked that it be corrected, they told me I would have to pay for the correction because they had already installed part of the fence. A few years later, one of the fence posts failed; the company came and 'fixed' it but left it very unsightly. Over the years, the fence has become pretty unstable, and part of it finally fell down so it is being replaced. HOWEVER, the workers doing the demolition have shown me several places where little to NO concrete was supporting the posts. Maybe that's not company policy, but that's what was done on my property. So now that I'm completely done with this company, I thought it important to share my experience with other potential customers. read more

Lousy quality. Installed in pouring rain. Posts set too shallow in mud and too wet concrete when gravel is proper. No doubt it will pop out after winter freeze/thaw. Installed gate out of level. Workers spoke little or no english, nice enough but threw old and new fencing all over neighbor's yard during install when not necessary. Neighbors not happy after their lawns trampled into muddy path. Sections fastened to posts with a single nail top and bottom driven poorly by hand. Cheap owners must not want to buy nail guns like those in use by all other companies. This is not a hard job to do correctly. No excuse. FYI, This company is owned by the Bergeron Group of Naperville. Jimmy Bergeron and his sons own restaurants,bars and other businesses including Jimmy's Grill, Brighton Car Wash, and Brighton Cleaners. It's never a good thing IMHO when a small business is just one little piece of a bigger pie of unrelated entities as focus is sometimes an issue. I find it interesting that you seem to want to distance yourself from the family business that clearly financed your purchase of Rustic. No matter. From the 8/3/2004 Naperville Sun titled "Bergeron family tries hand at fence building": "I think the desire to do something for myself and try and build something on my own is in my family's blood," said Bergeron, the new managing owner of Cedar Rustic Fence Co. in Joliet. The Bergeron Group, which is led by Greg's father, Jim Sr., closed the deal on Cedar Rustic in March. Greg will oversee the day-to-day functions at the fence company." I didn't respond to your message because there's little to be done at this point apart from reinstalling the entire fence and we do not want to go through that again. I will contact you when the fence deteriorates. The concrete was mixed wet in the wheelbarrow. Pneumatic nailers are most certainly available to drive nails much longer than 3". You can pick one up at Home Depot today for $150. As a former pre-sales tech guy who somehow now runs a fence company, I guess you haven't driven too many nails or bought any nail guns. The only complaint I have is a one place where a nail wasn't completely in and one spot where they put a board up because the fence post is not completely flush with our neighbors fence. These guys charge a premium price but don't know how to deliver. They installed my fence two feet short of my property line, all because they premade the fence to measurements that were wrong. Even though they had a plat of survey, which I guess they never read. Now my backyard is two feet shorter than it should have been. Hard to imagine why these guys think they're worth extra. Maybe a cheaper guy would know how to use a measuring tape. read more

(Installation date March 2014)Where to begin....first we were told that subcontractors would not be used but that is exactly who showed up to install our 300 ft fence. Then, the first 6 posts were placed in the wrong place and they got upset when we asked them to move them. Then come to find out they hit the power lines for us and our neighbor. We contacted them several times with no response ever, to this date. Once they got their money they no longer cared. A few days after installation I noticed nails bent, hammered in side ways. Different nails/ screws used for the caps on the posts. A severe bend in the fence like they used warped wood. Over all I can say I was extremely dissatisfied.
