I booked a Euro facial on my day off and had Heather as my esthetician. I completed an intake form and made sure to list, multiple times, that I was hoping for a relaxing, calming experience. Unfortunately, I don't feel that was the case. Heather was very friendly, however I felt the conversation we had was more like "getting coffee and catching up" than a relaxing facial experience. Again, I had a day off work and was hoping to shed some work-stress with this appointment however the first thing she asked was what I do for work, which then led to how she does not like the company I work for, and her opinions about employees there. My job is to intake and manage customer complaints, so in this moment I was essentially right back at my desk. We then went on to discuss her current medication side-effects, in detail. I will not say that I did not converse back, but my intention with my comments was to be polite and try to naturally end the conversation so I could focus on calm. The facial ended abruptly, and she did not attempt any extractions (even though that's a service within the Euro facial). I had intended to add on additional services to enhance my appointment (money was no object to me in this moment) however I'm very glad I did not. This is because, once I got to my car, I realized I still had remnants of the exfoliator in my hair, on my nose, and chunked into my eyebrows. I tipped well, as is my typical practice, but I found myself regretting so after realizing I did not get the quality service I was hoping for. I'm saddened to say I do not plan to return to Cedar Stone because of this experience. read more

I have mixed thoughts on my review. The facility, experience and therapists have been excellent between both the school side and the spa side. Execution of massage techniques and relaxation in the environment has been spot on. You will not be disappointed in these areas of service. My challenge is from an administrative perspective. It is very difficult to get timely communication and returned calls. 99% of the time I get their answering machine in lieu of a live person. I leave messages requesting a call back and then find myself having to retry reaching them in 2-3 days. I've emailed thinking that might be better but it's not. As I said above most everything there is amazing. Just know in advance you will need great patience in the scheduling and communication side of things. Hopefully, somehow they can work to improve these 2 things. I would love to post an update in the future noting improvements!! read more

It's a shame too, because the therapists are excellent but the owner doesn't seem to care about cleanliness and or paying her staff on time or at all for that matter. a lot of the girls end up moving on and there's no consistency in sticking with one therapist. We were in town skiing and decided to book a massage at Massanuten Spa. They were booked, but Cedar was able to fit us in at the last minute. When we pulled up, I was a bit concerned as the spa is in a strip mall. This is a prime example of how you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover. When you walk in, you are immediately hit with pleasant aromas and a serene vibe. The staff is extremely professional and strive to serve. The massage rooms were spacious, well decorated, and definitely more than I expected when I pulled up. My massage therapist took time to speak to me before my service about problem areas. During the massage, she made sure to make sure I was happy with the pressure. She also gave me tips on how to improve my circulation and deal with my knee issues. The prices are EXTREMELY reasonable and way less than other spas in the area. Two thumbs way up! If you are in the area, I highly recommend you make a reservation for a massage! read more

While not a "spa" in any sense of the word, Cedar Stone gives an awesome couples massage for a great price! There wasn't any sparkling cider or wine waiting for us or robes as I thought I'd read about from previous reviews, so I was a bit bummed as this was one of our anniversary treats. With that, I recommend sticking to the basics here, as I didn't love the pedicure experience. The first time I went here I went to the student side and was very disappointed. I won't do that again nor do I recommend it. The professional spa side is amazing. I purchased one of their 6 mos packages for my husband and I because they were that good. I have never done that before. Their deep tissue is my favorite but the way she does it incorporates hot and cold rocks so you are sore when you leave nor are your muscles sore the next day. Sorry, I'm not giving up my masseuse's name ;) I have a facial scheduled and I'm looking forward to it. I'm sure it will be great. I'll keep you posted. With my wedding and honeymoon a few days away I scheduled an appointment for some waxing beforehand (full face, Brazilian, and half leg!) Kameron Melendez is THE LITERAL BEST. Not only was she very thorough and professional, but she made me extremely comfortable, which is not something I can say for the other times I've been waxed at various places. I will only go to Kameron at Cedar Stone from now on. She is very friendly, bubbly, personable and funny! I could tell immediately that she is very experienced in this field. Everything was very clean, nothing was used twice or "double dipped" and it's things like this that really put your mind at ease! I went in nervous to bare all in front of a stranger, but I left feeling relaxed, refreshed and like I had just been waxed by a life long friend with no judgment whatsoever. Every body is different and skin types vary but I left Cedar Stone with no redness, no pain and no swelling (which I was particularly scared would happen after a full face wax) but Kameron is amazing and really knows what she is doing! This place was incredible! I was staying at the Massanutten Resort and their spa was booked. In a panic, my friend and I frantically searched for a spa alternative. We would not be caught on an icy ski slope for vacation. After a couple of minutes of searching we stumbled upon Cedar Stone Wellness Spa. Best decision of the weekend. The waiting room was small, but gentle. No one said anything to us when we first walked in which made me worry. Then it happened. We were escorted to our room where a practitioner was pouring the sweet nectar of the gods, champagne. We talked about the areas that needes the most attention, derobbed and laid beneath warm sheets. The massage began and by the time she got to my thighs I knew that this magical place was for me. The warm stones and oils on my body had me in such a daze that my friend had to blurt my name out. I was so wrapped up in the pleasure of relaxation that I lost track of time. If I ever find myself in this area again it is a guarantee that I will be at Cedar Stone Wellness Spa. I recently visited Cedar Stone Spa for the first time. My experience from start to finish was amazing. When you walk in you enter a place of peace and tranquility. I was welcomed by Brad who introduced himself and made me feel very welcome. He offered me a drink while I filled out a quick form. Then I met my masseur, Sean, who was very friendly and put me at ease. He made sure to ask key questions like any problem areas or pain I may be experiencing before the massage began. He was very professional and gave me one of (if not the best) massage I have ever had. I feel lighter, less tense, and I have greater mobility. I feel awesome and look forward to returning in the future. I also should point out I never felt rushed in anyway. Sometimes spas are so busy that the point of a relaxing environment is missed by the staff. Not at Cedar Stone Spa. Everyone I met had a calming presence and I tried to soak it in as much as I could. I made an appointment with Colleen at their satellite location at the Nest yoga studio. SHE DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! Omg!! She asked about my problem areas, I told her where. She told me at any time if the stones or the pressure is too much, to let her know. At one point, she had laid a hot stone on my foot and it felt so good. I moved into the area nearly two years ago and tried (unsuccessfully) for many months before discovering Cedar Stone and, in particular, Trisha. A great massage therapist is important to me because of my stressful, demanding work--hours at the computer and/or driving--and I now have been getting massages for approximately 30 years (long before they became "fashionable"). In addition, when I travel, I often try out local spas for comparison sake. Thus...I am a critical recipient of massages. I expect a lot from my massage therapist and do not return if I am less than satisfied. I have now found my massage therapy home at Cedar Stone and my massage therapist in Trisha. I like that the atmosphere is calm and quiet--and, of course, I expect and am perfectly satisfied with the cleanliness of the facility as well as the massage rooms. As to Trisha...she is the best massage therapist I have ever had (and I say that while thinking about my fantastic massage therapist in Ohio, where I lived before moving to Harrisonburg). It is clear to me that Trisha enjoys giving massages and that she has her clients' wishes and best interests at heart. Her hands are strong, and she really pays attention to the things I tell her about various aches and pains before she begins. She remembers particular sensitivities that I have (for example, I am always cold, and she deals with that issue immediately during my massages). And I never feel rushed or pushed out the door when my massage is finished. Plus, she makes every effort to accommodate my schedule, which can be challenging. I trust her so completely that I convinced my husband to "adopt" her as his massage therapist. He, too, is very glad that we found her. There is no question that I will continue going to Cedar Stone Spa for massage therapy with Trisha.
