I stopped by Cedar Stump Pub to try the chicken salad sandwich and it seriously exceeded expectations. You can tell right away everything is made fresh -- the chicken salad had amazing flavor in every bite and didn't taste pre-made or bland like most places. It actually tasted homemade and well thought out. The atmosphere was laid back and welcoming, and the whole place has that local neighborhood pub vibe where you feel comfortable right away. Staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. If you're looking for a spot with good drinks, live music, and food that's better than typical bar food, this place is definitely worth checking out. We have been very faithful customers to the cedar stump for over 5 years. We have enjoyed the food the customer service and have met several nice people there over the years. We always treat everyone with the utmost respect tip our bartenders very well. I love all types of music so I often spend $30 - $50 playing all types of music and often ask other customers what they would like to hear. As a military guy race is not an issue for me and I wish others would see the content of a person instead of the color of their skin. I have every shirt of all 3 cedar stumps and I know Jeremy the owner by name. Unfortunately tonight will be my last night ever visiting the cedar stump in troutman. Racism at its best was displayed. From the host of the trivia game , several customers in attendance, and most of all by the bartender. We were accused at cheating at a trivia game , with nothing at stake to win , we simply looked up answers AFTER my wife had submitted her answers , why cheat no money was on the table . The trivia guy approached me accused me of cheating yelled at me and said he's not arguing with me it's his game his rules and if I didn't like it leave . Our exchange became a little confrontational because we both are men and you're not going to accuse me or yell at me. Then the bartender Debbie not knowing the details said Jeremiah pay your tab and get out !! Then other customers we have seen and talked to before said this is not what you want ?? So yea we felt attacked . Then a bouncer came out with the guy bartender aggressively and said get out now. Debbie continued to call me by my name Jeremiah get your food pay your tab and get out. My wife said ok I'll pay the tab which she did and tipped the bartender, then two ladies sitting beside us started calling my wife names flashed a badged etc why my wife is the sweetest easy going person in the world. So we left feeling attacked and a touch of racism with me being black and her being white . So we go outside away from the cedar stump and the bouncer and the same bartender guys comes out and says can we talk and I said get out of my face there's nothing to talk about this isn't the energy you had inside when you said get the F out. Then 6 more customers came outside while we were just standing there. But the most unprofessional thing was the bartender Debbie came out from her post almost 15 mins after kicking us out , as the bartender Debbie approached me aggressively to say or do something my wife saw her stepped in between us and Debbie hit the glass window and ground as an awkward drunk person and got up with blood on her arm. 30 mins later Jeremy the owner pulls up who I know and respect and we explained everything to him and we requested he call police and review all cameras because we had nothing to lie or hide. Jeremy declined and didn't won't police involved , understandable. Supposedly some patrons were visiting from Miami who initiated part of the issues and made it worse, we felt attacked and not supported afterwards, we loved cedar stump in troutman but NEVER AGAIN Jeremy said give Debbie a pass because her father just passed away? Not knowing what we deal with so it's no excuse. Debbie is a terrible representative for Cedar Stump and the table that supported her . We definitely felt attacked. Why we love and respect everyone. Bad look cedar stump troutman! Jeremy hopefully you don't find this acceptable in 2026 especially condoning Debbie's behavior, she was on the clock and came to the parking lot away from the cedar stump , for whatever reason ! Why Debbie !! Why employ her Jeremy!! We love people , we love music , we respect everyone. But im just one person that believes in fairness and treating people with respect. Karma is undefeated and Debbie you deserve all what happens to you understandably because everyone deserves respect and to be treated as such as we have always treated you and everyone at Cedar Stump Troutman. read more

Amazing staff. Keeps the "Cheers Vibe" for us folk that can handle ourselves. The amazing sandwich stand in the back makes mean sandwich's that'll hit the spot!! Highly recommend the stumpgrinder with fries. Love is real here, but you better be ready for good southern time! No wussy stuff here my friends! Horrible place. Statesville location. On more then one occasion I have witnessed the staff charge more items on the bill then were ordered. When confronted they get rude & threaten you with banning & such. Cassandra in particular is guilty of adding things to the bill & does so because she can get away with it. Jeremy the owner is also in cahoots with this mentality. Family place my butt. Patrons beware they don't care about you. They do a good job of making you think they do. Straight up thieves.
