"buffalo shrimp salad." Super breaded shrimp, iceberg lettuce, processed shredded cheese, and a tasteless pepper and tomato for color.

I have been in a lot of dumps before, but this one is especially nasty. The food sucked and was overpriced. The waitress took my drink order then wandered away for 5 minutes. I felt like I was back in the 80s because everybody was smoking. My salad tasted like gummy, over-breaded shrimp on a bed of iceberg lettuce. I've had better salads at Wendy's and not had to pay $12.99 for them! I was surprised that they had both GAY FLAGS and confederate FLAGS! That was different. All in all, stay home. The people there were not good company and the leftovers in your fridge probably taste better than their food. Dodge this bullet!

Pre Cell Phone. When was the last time you saw one of these.

While they do serve food, it's really more of a Bar than a Restaurant. Located near where Slanting Bridge Rd becomes Campground Rd, it's been there for years. Dropped my car off to be serviced in Denver,( Air Compressor on the AC went and it's high 90's) and came back this way so decided to give it a try. First thing that hits you when you walk up to the front door is the sign that says "Members Only". My wife poked her head in the door as asked if they were open for lunch and did you have to be a member. She was told no but when we walked in, we had to sign a guest book. Later realized that this goes back to the legislation legalizing Liquor by the Drink that was passed in the late '70's. For a restaurant to serve alcohol, more than 50% of their revenue has to come from food. Obviously most of their revenue comes from alcohol sales so they have to operate as a private club. We ended up sitting at the bar since it was obvious there was no table service. After what seemed like forever, we did get to place our drink order. Looked all over the place for menu's or a menu board and did not find any. My wife asked if we could see a menu. The Bartender who turns out also the the short order cook said they only had one menu but we could share. Fortunately the menu was laminated so it could be wiped off. The Bartender/Cook kept disappearing and we later found out that she was trying to tend bar and go to the back and cook at the same time. Finally our of desperation my wife asked when we could order and how long it was going to take to get our food. The lady behind the bar held up her hand and said that it was going to take some time since she was the only one there. We ended up paying for our teas and leaving at that point. Other observations indicate that it could be a decent pool hall with some nice tables in the back. Does not appear to be the cleanest place in the area and one gentleman who may have been the owner had to get a roll of towels for the men's room. Again the lady behind the bar apologized and said she had not gotten to that yet. May be a good bar but would not recommend for dining.

Awesome local spot with a great staff and crowd. You know nobody and find great people to hang out with and shoot pool.

It's true, 61 miles from house to his latest concept: Annthony's at The Landing on Lake Norman. What a great location...kind of DIVEY kind of ECLECTIC! Locations have changed over the years but not the FOODS. Between my wife, myself and our daughter we had 1/4 White, 1/4 Dark, Tropical Fried Shrimp, Mac and Cheese, Callaloo Greens, Potato Salad, Black Beans and Cabbage. We tried all of the sauces... Island, Mild Jerk and Spicy Jerk. Our 8 year old daughter loved everything she tried. It had been several years since last eating with Tony and today was like coming home. We will be making the one hour drive once a month to get our fill. Hats off to Linda who has been Tony's Manager, and right hand, for as long as I can remember. Do yourself a favor and make the trip. We can't wait for warmer weather so we can sit outside and watch to boats. You can also purchase Dr. Martin's Sauces and Spices while you're there

Located right on Lake…read moreNorman, the scenery is doing a lot of the heavy lifting here--it's the kind of place where the sunset almost makes you forget you're reading a menu the size of a phone book. The inside was decorated in a fun lake theme! Red flag alert: the menu is massive. I'm a firm believer that no kitchen can master everything from A to Z, and Toucan's kind of proves the point. It was "just okay," maybe as much as good but not quite GREAT but the Shrimp Platter actually held its own! The shrimp were huge, well-seasoned, and the rice and beans were a surprising highlight. The real MVP of the night, though, was our waitress. Managing a party of 15 is usually a recipe for disaster, but she was a total pro. Every order was correct, the food arrived hot, and our drinks never hit empty. Go for the lake vibes and the stellar service, stay for the shrimp, but maybe keep your expectations for the rest of that giant menu in check. A solid choice for a big group outing! We would return for sure next time we'll try a !

The cocktails looked refreshing, but overall were just okay taste-wise. Food was decent, nothing bad but nothing that really stood out either. Service was unfortunately the biggest downside. We waited quite a while for someone to greet us outside, even though there were only a couple other tables. I finally went inside to find a server and noticed the staff all gathered together while there weren't any tables inside. Overall, I'd come back for the view and atmosphere, but not necessarily for the food, drinks, or service.

It was a beautiful day, and the atmosphere of sitting outside on the deck overlooking the waterfront was absolutely perfect. Relaxing views, great weather, and a laid-back vibe made for an awesome experience. The food was great too! She started with the Honey Mustard Chicken Wrap appetizer and absolutely loved that it came with a side of asparagus -- and honestly, the asparagus was delicious. The only downside was she forgot to ask for no onions on the wrap, so she only had a few bites, but that definitely wasn't the restaurant's fault. I actually took the rest home for lunch at work the next day, and it was really good. For her main meal, she ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fries and truly enjoyed it. I started with the wings and tried the Italian Garlic sauce -- first time I've ever seen that flavor offered anywhere -- and it was delicious! For my main course, I went with the BLT and was very happy with my choice. Overall, between the food, the service, and the waterfront atmosphere, this was a really enjoyable experience and a great place for a lunch date. We'll definitely be back.

The drinks: The two girls ordered Miami Vice and I ordered a Rum Runner. The Vices were not frozen the strawberry puree was not a puree and the pubs colada potion tasted like whip cream - had to return them they were so bad. My Rum Runner was meh at best. The Bahama Mamma wasn't much better as the mix of the drink was way off compared to the liquor. My beer was barely cold. The food: Appetizers: Fried pickles and fried Mac & Cheese bites - both delicious My blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich was delicious and was cooked to perfection. My onion rings were huge but way undercooked. My wife's buffalo chicken salad very little flavor except the chicken pieces themselves. Huge amounts of ice berg lettuce but mostly the bitter white parts. Very little other greens at all. Our friends Mahi Mahi Tacos were delicious. Service: Food and drinks were served relatively fast & our server was attentive. I did find her annoyingly over the top. She kinda ruined the whole relaxing vibe. Our total bill was $118.00 (they did not charge us for the 2 bad drinks) Overall, not worth the drive. The view of lake Norman is so-so unless you're right along the railing. We were just very underwhelmed.
