Dave and Trudy are such warm and helpful hosts, making you feel so cared for and pampered. The Inn is so beautiful and immaculately clean with a view you never get tired of. We stayed in the Birds Nest room which was just perfect for us. Amazing view, comfortable bed, tub with spa jets, separate toilet room and two sinks - just perfect! Trudy is an amazing chef and Dave is the friendliest server at breakfast, serving up fresh baked goods, yogurt/granola, juice/coffee/artesian water, fresh fruit of many varieties, and the most delicious and lovely presentation for main courses. We were so impressed with every breakfast. At 5:30 pm every evening, Dave hosts "happy hour" in the Indigo Lounge, where you can sit at the bar, take in the view and enjoy some fine wine and a really delicious charcuterie plate put together by Trudy. Dave is great to talk to and has so many recommendations for the area. We took most of his recommendations for what to eat and drink at restaurants and were not disappointed! The grounds are beautifully manicured with so many trails and an outdoor spa (which we enjoyed a couple times while again taking in the view) and there is a sauna and exercise area inside too. We would love to come back and enjoy Dave and Trudy's amazing hospitality.

I did not expect the owners to treat me and my wife like honored guests in their own home, but that's how it is. Very interesting husband and wife team who are very skilled at making a rich experience and tailoring the visit to your interests. The coolest part of the stay for me were the happy hours that Dave hosted. We had a lot of fun swapping stories with Dave and other guests who were also up for some good drinks. Breakfast was also pretty awesome. The manor is a beautiful campus that exceeds the verbal description and pictures. Lots of richness in the back story can be gleaned from conversation with Dave. To be honest, we werent looking for a bed and breakfast or a resort like retreat since we came to do some hiking, do some leaf peeping, and do some tourist stuff with a friend. By the time check out came around, we wished we budgeted more time relaxing at the manor. Definitely plan to book here again next time we do a Wisconsin vacation.

I have been holding off on writing these words for too long…read more Today I'm breaking that silence. Today I just read the first and only review of this place. That was written by a woman about 4 years ago. During better times. As far as the previous owners better times I concur, a very solid 5 stars as well as glowing kind words. As previously experienced her words were spot on and this little motel was very reasonably priced and a fine place to stay. At least I'm certain they properly reflected this lovely property and spoke very well of Linda the woman I got to know beginning around June 2021. That was before. New ownership means new something new to follow. Change is the only thing that always remains the same. Here's new ownerships benefits: * Increased price! * No WiFi / Internet! * AC promptly broke down, during last heat wave! (STILL DOWN!) * Seven surveillance cameras! * BOX ELDERS! More than you can kill! * On Site septic system, overdue for routine maintenance since AUGUST! * Flies outnumber Boxelders 5:1 on warm days! * Even when the new owner assured me this wasn't going to be affecting myself or any of the current residents. I've been renting a room as an office for my small handyman/electrical service business office June 2021. When the internet/WiFi was removed, and an assured promise it's return in a week came and passed, becoming 6 weeks and instead of the WiFi reappearing, a dozen surveillance cameras sprouted up like mushrooms one night. Some appear to be powered, others not. The AC stopped working just as the final Indian summer resurgence of +80F a week ago. All said, this is not likely to be a thing once new owners. Word in the area of small time remodeling/construction companies such as mine is the slumlord LLC that are Bel Aires proud new owners, are owners of at least 4-5 properties in the Madison area. This is more of a preview. Though my words primarily and accurately review my actual experience as a resident for 5 months.

I liked that it had hard floors instead of carpet. The bathroom was clean & had a beautiful shower curtain like one I'd find at home. I will be staying here again next time I'm in town visiting family.

I recently stayed at the Gonstead Guest Cottage. My partner and I wanted a quick getaway and…read morerearranged our vacation schedule to accommodate Gonstead's 2-night minimum stay . This was the vacation spot I was most looking forward to and the one I was most disappointed by. The best parts? 1- Mt. Horeb is an amazingly wonderful small town we will be sure to return to. 2- The radiant heat throughout - no cold floors. 3- An iPod with 6,000 songs hooked up to a nice stereo system. Our beef? At $110/night, we strongly feel the Gonstead Guest Cottage is overpriced. We resented the 2-night minimum stay once we got there, and hated learning that we would be charged $10 to use their wood (we got a cord of wood from the gas station down the street for $5). We thought the price would guarantee us a nice stay. We were sadly mistaken and will not stay here again. Yes, clean (if you overlook the cobwebs) but you can't escape the strong smell of smoke from the fireplace. No problem, right? We'll just air it out. Sadly, that's not possible as the owners removed the hand cranks from the windows. Yes, they have bikes for you to use, but no air in the tires (even after promising to remedy this). Yes, they have a full kitchen with nice cookware but if they are charging so much it needs renovation. We'd also been told there would be cereal avaialble for us but nothing was there. We did love the town and will be back to visit it. We'll just seek alternate accommodations next time :) As a frequent B&B customer, I know my money should go further than it did here and am sorely disappointed in my stay.

When I first saw the listing with the excellent reviews and history of the house I felt this would be a fun place to stay. After spending the four nights my initial feeling was right on. This was the perfect place for our family to stay. Kathy greeted us when we arrived and helped us figure out where to have dinner that first night. We stayed in rooms 10 and 11. Those rooms have their own private bath and are on the second floor. It was as though we had a family apartment. The adults room had a king sized bed and the children shared a queen. Their room had a scavenger hunt within the stone walls, which they really enjoyed. After dinner the boys played table tennis and pop shots basketball. Kathy also treated them to an ice cream cone. Very sweet. There were also plenty of board games to play in the evenings. Breakfast was yummy and coffee aplenty! They do offer WiFi, but no screens, so it is easy to bond with your family and have some quality time together. This location was within walking distance to the swimming pool/park and Pendarvis (which is still closed). It is about a half an hour drive to House on the Rock, Cave of the Mounds, and Taliesin. Lots of fun side stops on the way to any of these places. Kathy is an awesome cook. We feel so fortunate to have met her, Dan, and Bobby Jo on our trip. Mineral Point is a beautiful town and I thank them for preserving and sharing such a wonderful Wisconsin landmark with us.

Our experience at the Round Barn Lodge was not just about accommodation; it was about being embraced with a level of kindness and care that can only be described as gracious hospitality. Kathleen and Abby at the front desk are not just friendly; they are compassionate souls who went above and beyond to assist us when our vehicle had a minor hiccup during our stay. Our room was both comfortable and spacious, with lovely lighting, plenty of electrical sockets, and a gorgeous fireplace, and it was all immaculate and well-cared for. Everything was in excellent condition; the room even smelled clean and fresh. We had a stunning window view with vertical blinds and a lot of room to move around. Our deluxe King room also held a very nice mini-refrigerator, a microwave, coffee maker and supplies, a lovely and spacious dresser and large mirror above it, and a sizable desk with a matching chair and four electrical outlets above it on the wall to plug in my laptop and chargers. The large bed had two lovely bedside tables with lamps, which were ample enough to set my CPAP on, which was greatly appreciated. There was so much storage space, including a lovely closet with a folding wooden door, hangers, extra pillows, and a luggage holder. The bathroom was spotless, with ample space and a nice shower. We appreciated all the additional amenities that came with our room and could not have asked for better. They have an indoor swimming pool that is up to five feet deep and kept immaculately clean. It was a nice way to relax at the end of a long day. There is also a coffee shop/cafe attached to the hotel that is open in the mornings until early afternoon (it currently closes at 2 p.m.). It is exceptionally lovely to visit. The Round Barn Lodge is a beautiful, family-friendly haven that my wife and I are delighted to have chosen for our vacation. We've stayed in many hotels before, but none have been as friendly and comfortable as this one. If you're planning a stay in the Spring Green area, this is the best value for your money. The rates are not just affordable; they are highly affordable, ensuring that you get the most out of your vacation budget. They have more than ample parking, and it is a very secure hotel in an area with a very low crime rate. They have many security cameras around the lodge to keep an eye on things at all times, and we felt very secure while staying there. It is by far one of the friendliest, cleanest, and most comfortable places I've had the pleasure of staying at, and I can't recommend it highly enough! Thank you so much for making our stay in Wisconsin a great one despite our vehicle troubles and for going out of your way to be kind, respectful, and professional all at the same time. What a fantastic place to stay!
