Oatmeal also average, but overpriced for just a bowl of oatmeal....no toppings. First latte not hot, second latte blistering hot, which was ok. The fruits were nice and fresh. My friend ordered the grilled chicken avocado salad. The mango's on the salad were very fresh also ( I helped myself to one). The salad came out right away but there was quite a wait for the waffle. The cafe has a nice and cozy feel. Looks like a nice place to come and get some work done. Most people had their laptops out. They have high chair tables and they also have an exercise balls chair. They do heed warning to "sit at your own risk". The only thing that I didn't like was that I ordered an Iced Chai Latte. The food menu has some good options that are delicious for a morning bite! I have been here a few times and been disappointed by drinks that are not hot, made incorrectly, or just not good at all. Beautiful cafe with friendly staff. Came here to study and I really enjoyed my time here. They have a nice selection of pastries (muffins and bagels) and even a few gluten free options. I didn't try and of the food, but they offer breakfast and lunch options as well as smoothies, coffee, tea, and açaí bowls. I ordered a preset smoothie (you can create your own and there are A LOT of choices) and I quite enjoyed it. It was 7.00 for a small signature smoothie (not including tax and tip), which although pricey was worth it because of how long I stayed at the cafe. I didn't see a LOT of outlets here, but there are definitely a few around in case your laptop is dying. The best part about the place is the yoga balls that you can sit on while you work. Truly helped keep my posture good during my time working and also was just a lot of fun. They have the radio on in the background, but no loud music so that it's a pretty quiet environment. This is a fun little coffee shop close to the Yale campus. They have a pretty comprehensive menu including waffles, egg sandwiches, smoothies, açaí bowls, coffee and pastries. I got an açaí bowl with strawberries, bananas and honey. It was refreshing but there was a lot of honey. Too much for my personal taste. My mom got a Belgium waffle with strawberries, Nutella and whipped cream. The touch of cinnamon was a pleasant surprise. The fresh squeezed orange juice was very fresh and yummy but not very cold. The shop is nice and cozy. A very fun find. They have a sign requesting patience at the cash register which I found fitting and helpful: the food is tasty but the service is kind of slow. I feel as though Cedarhurst Cafe's terrific star-rating is a more a product of its friendly service and ambience rather than its food. Nonetheless, my friends and I had a very pleasant Saturday brunch at Cedarhurst. After we ordered at the front, they handed us numbers, and servers brought our food to us at the table. Be aware that the wait time is a little longer than average due to the high volume of people during weekend brunch; I think we ended up waiting 15-20 minutes for two açaí bowls and one waffle. My friend and I ordered the Acai bowl with banana, strawberry, and blueberry (she substituted banana with granola), and my other friend ordered a Belgian waffle topped with strawberry, banana, and dollops of whipped cream. While the waffle was alright, she said that it wasn't the best she'd ever had in New Haven. It looked as though the waffle came out of a waffle-maker, and it was a little bit smushed / dry. Fortunately, they were generous with the whipped cream and fruit toppings. My açaí bowl was terrific: it was light, refreshing, and naturally sweetened. While there were a few frozen lumps, most of the bowl was well-blended and the texture / consistency was smooth. Luckily, it didn't melt too quickly. In addition, I could really taste the açaí essence; it wasn't masked by greek yogurt or sugary fruit juices. The portion size wasn't amazing (I think the açaí bowl is more for a snack than an actual meal replacement), but for $8.50 I was happy with the amount. Also, they arranged the fruit aesthetically, which I appreciate :) The Cafe itself comes with plenty of seating / studying area. There is a printer for your convenience on the side as well! I would absolutely recommend Cedarhurst Cafe for a lazy Saturday brunch or for a productivity session with friends. read more

Hoping to pick up something quick Saturday morning, I ordered a few items from Cedarhurst on Yelp. I was surprised to see the 30-40 minute wait and decided to mosey over early. Nonetheless, we were quick to realize that, indeed, they were overwhelmed with the morning crowd and hadn't started to make our food. It did end up taking half an hour. That being said, the food and drink were pretty good. Their coffee list is robust, and I enjoyed the honey and vanilla latte. My husband got the chocolate peanut butter latte cold, but it should definitely be served hot because many of the contents were not blended well. Went to this cafe on our way from Bridgeport to Boston and had a terrible experience. The lattes and food were great (albeit overpriced). However, the male manager/owner had no control over his temper and was SCREAMING at their staff in front of 16+ customers, to the point that the girls were in tears. They were doing the best they could, and he was so nasty to them telling them they were slow, incompetent, etc. I would NOT recommend spending your money here and visit a cafe where the owners/managers know how to treat others with kindness and respect. read more
