My friend added extra cheese, and the burger did not disappoint. We wished they had sweet potato fries, but no luck. She also ordered the Rubber Ducky cocktail, which was really good and I enjoyed the Modelo Special served in a nice glass. The only small issue was with the coffee--the spoon was too large to fit in the cup, and they didn't have a smaller one available. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. I was on Google Maps looking for a fun place to eat in New Haven. This place had great reviews for food choices like fried chicken and waffles. That got me interested and wanted to check it out. They had wings on one side and funny neon signs on the other. There is a comic strip with a duck in the prohibition era and bringing alcohol to New Haven which was very clever. I liked the silliness vibe of the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This place must be a hit during the weekends. The waitress came by and gave me the local tips on what everything was about. There is a lot of history to this place. To order of course I got the fried chicken and waffle bites. It was $15 for two pieces. I didn't want a big meal so this did the job. To drink they had a large menu of beverages with funny names. I loved the "Unusual Ducks-pect" or the "Mango Noir." I needed something nonalcoholic for the lunch hour. There was a drink called Dubai Dusk which intrigued me. It had fresh espresso, pistachio syrup, chocolate syrup, strawberry puree, and milk. I did not know if these things would all go together but it was wonderful. It had the right mix of sweetness and caffine. It also was a good mix with the chicken and waffles. Not my favorite, but then again I'm not big on brown liquor. Not quite sure why I ordered it. But if you enjoy Bourbon and whiskey, it might be your thing. I'm used to larger portions when visiting restaurants, but the portions weren't very big here but no complaints. Just an FYI. Went last week with a friend. We shared the Korean Fried Cauliflower. It was great tasting and the portion was so large we couldn't eat it all. My friend got the Nashville hot Sammie and I got the Atlantic salmon burger with sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious. It was a lot of fried food but it was so good, I'm not complaining. We didn't have a reservation (definitely recommend making one if you can) but we were there not long after opening and they got us seated quickly. A group of friends stopped in after the St. Pattys Day parade on Sunday. I visited Elm City Social for the first time during lunch of New Haven Restaurant Week. I sat at the bar, which has a cool industrial vibe. There is also a nice dining room in the back of the restaurant. Service was friendly and efficient. For around $25, they offered three appetizer choices and three main choices. The theme was "Southern Lovin". I chose cheddar and chive biscuits with white gravy for my first course, and smothered catfish for my main. Both dishes were good. The catfish in particular was well executed. The fish was tender, but it had a thin crunchy layer on the outside. The Cajun gravy was mildly spiced, but well rounded flavor-wise. The gravy mixed in with the rice a bit, which gave it nice flavor too. I would definitely eat at Elm City Social again. 4.25 Stars read more

The restaurant was absolutely packed, yet she handled the rush with calm professionalism and warmth. While Exploring New Haven and Yale University-we got thirsty and the outside facade of Elm City Social drew us in. The rubber ducky theme (I recently found a rubber ducky on vacation -memorial tribute to a young woman who passed away suddenly) peaked my curiosity. Of course we had to order this signature drink!! We ended up drinking two. First one was meh (more gin and bubbles). The second one the grapefruit stood out more and it was delish! Also got a mango fruit cocktail which was fab. Learned they have a sister bar that offers a rubber piggy (Olive and Oil) and will soon open a rooftop bar offering a tiki turtle. We plan to visit them all to add to our rubber critter collection!
