Nice looking items but the staff (three ladies) spent the entire time I was in the store talking to each other in between the shoes and the rest of the store. I liked a few of the shoes but they seemed pretty unapproachable and didn't offer any assistance. They were positioned so that I literally had to squeeze by them to get to the rest of the store without them even acknowledging me. After seeing other reviews it appears the lack of care from staff is an issue going back years. Cute things but not with the snark. read more

Loves this place... but on pricy side but there is always sales in the back. That is how I discover some nice shoe brands that is very comfy. For those who likes to hunt for a good deal (like me)..... I always go in just to look. Also don't miss the kids/men side. Really a rude store, at least on the ladie's side. The older woman who works there (maybe the owner or manager) just will not say hi to me. I even made direct eye contact with her this weekend and she didn't say a word. I'm younger than her for sure but yes not as young as much of their clientele. Live up the street in Solana Beach. Hubby and I make lots of money and own our own ocean view Solana beach home. On Cedros a lot...members at Carruth, bought Pedego bikes. Like to support the local businesses but won't support this one. Went over to Ardsley Road where we were greeted warmly and spent some money. Used to love this store and have bought many things there. What a shame the owner is so closed-minded that she'll lose long-term customers by being rude, unfair and downright cheap. I purchased a sale dress from this store. When I went to wear it, I noticed a permanent stain on it that I had not seen in the store. I was willing to exchange it for a pair of shoes 3x the price I paid for the dress. Yet she and the other clerk belittled me in the middle of the store, saying I should have seen the stain before I bought it. What kind of reputable business thinks it is acceptable to sell damaged merchandise and penalize customers who don't see it in the store? Had I wanted something stained and used, I'd have gone to a consignment shop. Talk about bad business. Do not shop here. There are plenty of other beautiful boutiques in our area which pride themselves on customer service, and doing the right thing. This place is NOT one of them. read more

Warning - if you buy shoes from Cedros sole You only have 10 days to return them and they Better be in the box that The sales people don't insist on you keeping if the shoes might need to Be returned...shoes are non refundable or returnable. I learned the hard way with a sales girl that had a major attitude and couldn't get a hold of her sales manager to approve the return. I shop ALOT at this store however will take my business elsewhere cause the sales manager never called me back as requested & was only able to return the shoes with 50% store credit. That is crappy service and even DSW will take shoes back not in the box . read more

They have a HUGE selection of shoes and clothes- all very nice quality, lots of cashmere. Cool brands of shoes that are hard to find like pikinos (Spain) and your everyday brands like Frye and Olukai Friendly staff If you need a shirt in any style or color you'll find it here. My biggest issue is the layout- all the shirts are folded which means you can't see them unless you unfold then feel guilty messing up the pile and trying to refill- very annoying. They should have a rack with one of each style and then fold the rest so you can see them easily with a quick glance. read more

In December my friend and I shopped at "Cedros Soles". She bought 2 pair of shoes and some clothes and I couldn't stop smelling a "Capri Blue Volcano" candle. For Christmas, she thought she bought me the candle she thought I loved, unfortunately she chose the "Capri Blue Wild Orchid" one, Yuck! I didnt want to hurt her feelings so today, a rainy slow business day, I went to "Cedros Sole" figuring it would be a simple exchange. Nope, both women working today refused to exchange it for the one I loved, bc I didnt have the receipt nor was the tag still on it. I told them it was a gift, and that didnt matter, not logical for them. So, I went across the street, to "Mabels" bc they sell only fabulous scented candles, not the stinky one, and I ended up buying the candle, clothes, earrings and sun glasses, about $500 worth of "Mabels" adorable merchandise all bc they wrapped up the stinky "Cedros Soles" candle so I can regift it for my 89yr old mother, who loves stinky floral candles. Cedros Soles is great...but it's name can be a little deceiving as there's more to this store than shoes. Lots more! I actually discovered Cedros Soles last year when I attended a breast cancer fundraiser they were hosting. My girlfriend donated several paintings to the event so I was invited to partake in the festivities. I actually left with items from the store as well as items I was bidding on throughout the night. And judging my other friends purchases, I think it was a successful night for all. Fast forward to present day. I had a lunch meeting nearby and decided to pop in to check out what they had. I remembered they had a great selection of Hobo purses and wallets and the Hobo purse that I purchased a year ago is something that I swear I can't live without. They still had a great collection of purchases but nothing that I couldn't live without - for now. Their collection of jewelry with the semi-precious stones were AMAZING but were a bit on the pricey side..perhaps when I have a special occasion or looking for a specific look to complete an outfit, I'll have to check out Cedros Soles. In this most recent visit, I ended up walking out of the store with a hat and flip flops...yes, you know you live in Southern California when you're buying flip flops in November. ; ) Service here was as great as I had experienced in my previous visit. Every time I go in to see Stephanie at the store I feel welcome. I leave feeling uplifted. I love the assistance in picking some of the items out and just finding amazing finds. The shoes, the accessories galore, sweater to tees., pants to long dresses. An amazing collection from jeans to sparkles. I even found fantastic baby items in the second room. I love the merchandise- it is expensive but it is what it is... they are priced with the market. However, as others have mentioned, so this should come as no surprise- it is not what you'd call a 'Welcoming Environment'. When I drop $300.00 for a pair of shoes, I expect some kind of customer service instead of the sales clerk fixing her hair in the mirror, chatting with her friends, or just ignoring my presence. And G-d forbid you need another size- it is akin to asking for a pint of blood. So, bottom line- cute merchandise but be prepared with the credit card because cute doesn't come cheap. But more importantly- maybe just go in the back and help yourself because waiting around for service- you're going to need to get comfortable. They have cute styles, great brands from Europe (I mean, Emma Hope, its like a dream come true) along with a variety of causal every day shoes suited for beach, work, or play. The staff is friendly, easy to work with, and kind without being overbearing. In the back, they have a cute card shop and some cute clothing. But the shoes are why you come to this store - lots of sizes, cute styles - the north county needs more stores commited to the pursuit of cute feet. I have shopped for my wife many times at this store and love their products I purchased a piece of lingerie on Monday and chose the wrong size I attempted to exchange it but was told that due that I had no receipt there would not accept the change. to me it was evident the underwear had not been worn but the person that helped did not want to accommodate the exchange. It's a shame because my wife and daughter love to shop. First off they were not attended to initially and when my wife requested assistance she was rudely brushed off. So my wife waited. Employee didn't return so my wife got frustrated and returned to browsing. Ah, but now she gets attention. She get followed around by 2 employees but not to attend to as a customer but they tail her like she was a common thief! In this day and age is it relevant to mention that we're not Caucasian? In sales, the only color that should matter is green. If "our kind" isn't welcome, wouldn't it be more efficient to disclose that with a sign in front to save everyone the trouble. I, myself, am not overly sensitive. In fact I'm a conservative, which I catch enough flack from peers as it is. I'm not one to jump on my soapbox and scream racism like most liberal minorities are quick to do. However if those employees never even approached these 2 women to even get to know them, what merit did they use to treat them as such other that appearance? If I could rate no stars, I would. This is shameful and insensitive. Disgraceful and inexcusable just because what, we're from down south in lowly La Jolla. This is one of my favorite store in San Diego. They sell a variety of great brands, different than what you find elsewhere. I particularly like their maxi dress selection and jeans, but they have a great pajamas section and lovely jewelry and scarves. They also have great shoes of course. I've shopped in Cedros Soles for several years. Whenever my daughter is "in town" we make it a point to visit this store because we are (unfortunately) both "shoe people". Their selection is fantastic - gorgeous shoes - and many that you won't see in mainstream stores. I'm always amazed that regardless of the shoe you select, they always seem to have your size. Their storeroom must be enormous!!! I read some of the reviews posted here, and several people commented on the "unfriendly" staff. I've found just the opposite to be true. Whenever we've been there we're usually trying on multiple styles, with the salesperson bringing out 6-12 boxes of shoes. I've never experienced any attitude, but that might be because they know we are actually going to BUY something rather than just trying things on. Cedros Soles Cute store, very uncute staff personality! Check your bags before you leave the store to make sure you got what you purchased! Last weekend I purchased a pair of Tom's shoes. When I got home I realized that the store employee put the floor model, size 7, in the box with only one shoe in my size. No problem I thought, I called the store to get the situation in order. To my surprise the response I received was negative and hostile - from the clerk, to the owner's daughter Stephanie, and from the owner Barbara! I am from out of town and they would not send me the correct shoe until I sent them the floor model first; they have my money and half of the pair of shoes I purchased, I have no idea why they don't send me my shoe with a UPS slip so I can send them their floor model back. It's not the process that I would expect, but that really wasn't the problem - the problem really comes from the condescending personalities of Stephanie and Barbara. Not only were they rude to me they even had the audacity to ask me what I do for a living and then insulting my line of work. I'm at a loss to how they run their business. I called Tom's directly to tell them of the situation and they were horrified to hear about the service I received from Cedros and they have rectified the problem for me. My advice - save yourself, do not shop at Cedros!! read more

As someone who has been in retail for 10 years now, I appreciate customer service and treating everyone fairly. Today, as I picked up a fascinator, the sales girl (blonde hair) looked at me and said "Please be careful-that's very nice and expensive. Your not even supposed to wear it that way." The tone of her voice and what she said alluded to you can't afford that and stop touching it. I had my sunglasses in my hand and barely had a chance to pick up that before she approached me saying this. It was really disappointing because I was looking to purchase it since we are going to the track on the 17th. However, with that attitude, I handed it back and said I don't need to try it on and walked out of the store. I never feel obliged to leave a review because I understand there are off days. However, this was blatantly rude and made me feel like I wasn't worthy of being in the store. I hope management sees this and is able to address this with their staff. I would hate for someone else to have the same experience as I. I won't be back. read more

Love the merchandise! The sales staff is helpful, however, not everyone working there attended the same training class.... I purchased a pair of shoes only because I was told I could return them "gently worn" within 10 days for a store credit. When I returned them "gently worn" (I wore them to the car and back). I was told by the owner that they could only be "worn" on the carpet--and the mistake was mine. What is sad is she had an opportunity to build character and communicate to her staff their policies--instead she revealed her lack of character, and won the battle. Bottom line, "the customer is NOT always right", but "the customer is always a customer" ....They just lost another customer. read more
