Take my review with a grain of salt. The food was good. And the place is super cute. However, at the end of the meal the waiter blew a snot rocket, wiped his nose with the back of his hand then came to our table and removed a few empty plates. Then, later that evening I got sick and I have been sick for two days. Nausea, vomiting and the like. All I can think about is if he was so comfortable with that level of uncleanliness in front of customers then what does he do in private. I never leave bad reviews. I am not a complainer and will say nothing rather than say a bad word. Cedrón changed that for me. We love Mexico City and come here as often as we can. This was our first time staying in Condesa. Condesa is lovely and we will stay here again. What we won't do is come back to Cedrón. We love good food and enjoy great restaurants. We had read reviews of Cedrón and were looking forward to our dinner. We had reservations for 7:30. Got there on time and there was one other couple at a table when we were seated. Our entire experience here tonight was just stupid. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It had potential for a lovely evening. Our waiter just seemed to be in some kind of weird hurry. He gave us the menus and was pressing us to order appetizers. We ordered two cocktails. We decided we just would rather have entrees rather than fill up on an appetizer or a salad first. We got the cocktails and he wanted us to order wine. We wanted to look at the menu further so we would make a proper wine selection. He just seemed to want to get us to order a wine. So after a quick review of what we thought our entree would be, we ordered a red wine. We had basically just gotten the cocktails. Suddenly we were each given a small appetizer that we had not ordered. It seemed like a grain, farro maybe, with some vinegary dressing and some finely chopped peppers. It tasted good, but we just wanted to enjoy the cocktails. The wine was presented to us and a glass poured for each of us. Our waiter kept coming by and asking if we were ready to order the entrées. We asked him to just calm down and slow down. He kept asking us for our order, so we did. My husband asked our waiter to please just slow down. We wanted to enjoy our time. There still were only four people in the restaurant. We were talking and another waiter came to take away the appetizer we had not ordered and had not eaten. My husband told them again to please just slow down. We were talking and enjoying the cocktails. Suddenly the second waiter brought a dish with rice and pomegranate arils on top. He said that went with the chile en nogada that my husband ordered. We still had NOT finished the cocktails. Or eaten the appetizer. Our first waiter comes with my dish, the suckling pig. That was the last straw for us. We never do this. My husband got up and told both waiters that we were going to pay for the meal but just leave. The chef comes out and told my husband that the waiter didn't understand us because he didn't speak English. My husband had only spoken Spanish to the waiter. The second waiter at that time is trying to pour a sauce on my plate. I told him to please stop. We decide to just leave. The chef tells us we drank the cocktails and we needed to pay for them. Remember, we had offered to pay the entire bill. We paid for the cocktails and did leave. Our leaving left only the other couple there. Two people. It felt as if the entire place had been full and they wanted to turn the table over as rushed as they made everything. This was not any kind of good service. We never have had a restaurant try to rush orders in this way. Like I said earlier, it was just stupid. We walked a short way down the street and had wonderful tapas at Bulla. We had a wonderful time having dinner at Cedrón. We made reservations for 8:30pm on a Tuesday night and were promptly seated shortly after we arrived. We were seated at a very cozy booth which was a perfect table for a romantic dinner. Our waiter spoke excellent English and provided excellent service. We started off with the Opera de Vegetales which was an outstanding assortment of beautiful grilled and sautéed vegetables, including beets, carrots, zucchini, onions, yams, and kale. It was as if the chef had prepared the very freshest selection of vegetables from the farmers market. The cocktail selections very interesting. We had the Brigitte, which was mezcal based, and the Lolo which was a wine and tropical fruit drink. Delicious! The veggies were accompanied with an outstanding assortment of freshly baked bread and rolls that had a perfect crust and were nice and chewy on the inside. For our main courses we had the pesca del día (fish of the day - red snapper) and Lechón confitado (roast baby pig). Both were outstanding! We also had the Macedonia de Vegetales (more grilled vegetables) on the side to make it a very healthy meal with plenty of vegetables. Normally I don't focus that much on the vegetables, but the veggies were incredible. If Cedròn was located back home in the Bay Area, it would definitely be one of our top restaurants. This is a very special restaurant. The chef studied in Paris and worked at the Ritz. The fish I had was a grouper made in the Provençal style with delightful accompaniment of vegetables. The staff was very attentive and I would make this a permanent spot to dine when in Mexico City. read more

We started with gratis rolls with mushroom butter, and two different types of dips, along with a tuna and avocado amuse bouche. Soups were French Onion Soup and an amazing Roasted Tomato Soup with Goat Cheese. Our mains were perfectly cooked Grouper with a Parsnip Puree that was heavenly. One of our diners had a pasta with shrimp dish and said it was the best he ever had. We did not get dessert - but the Opera Roja cocktail was perfect. Wow! We were desperately searching for a restaurant for dinner one night, I'm vegan, my mother is not. I found Cedrón online and booked a table for a few hours' time. What a happy accident I found this place! The ambience is beautiful. Fresh cut flowers on each table, comfy, big chairs, fresh produce overspilling on the entrance to the kitchen... Wonderful. The service was unparalleled. The waiters were attentive, explained things to us, made recommendations (especially for me as I'm vegan), and always had a smile. We ordered and I wanted a salad with sweet potatoes on it, but asked that they exclude the cheese - because, vegan. The waiter actually recommended that I get the quinoa and vegetable platter because that was his favourite and he thought I would enjoy it more, so I changed my order. We each ordered a glass of Mexican wine (do not skip over the Mexican wines!) which we later turned into a bottle. We received an amuse bouche which was very tasty, made it vegan for our table. Fresh bread arrived which I was assured was vegan and they pointed out which of the sauces I could eat, which was appreciated. My mom had the red curry shrimp. She wasn't "hungry" so didn't think she could eat much, but devoured it all. The quinoa and vegetable plate was MASSIVE, but so divine I ate every last morsel. The veggies were steamed so they still had some bite to them, but were so flavourful that it didn't feel like "just another plate of veg." After a long drive from Querétaro, we were looking for something close to our Airbnb that would be open relatively late - Cedrón did not disappoint! I made a reservation through opentable, but being 10:15 it was not needed. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was light and well decorated. They have a great terrace for sitting too. We had the tomato soup, filet mignon, and salmon pasta. Everything was WONDERFUL. Their wine seleaction and service were great. The creme brûlée and carajillo for dessert were just the cherries on top of one of my favorite meals I've had in Mexico City. I would absolutely eat here again. Dinner for 4, and we were not disappointed. The food and drinks were outrageously yummy, and the pistachio ice cream OMG delicious. The decor is perfection, classy and simple. The chairs are comfy. But the lights are WAY to bright - turn off the overhead and let the beautiful sconces create a nice mood! Also while the servers were friendly they could better coordinate bringing out all main course dishes at the same time, to avoid 3 of us waiting politely for the 4th person to get their dinner before eating. And when somebody's plate was almost clean, the servers would swoop in a little too quickly to clear it off the table. Overall, we were very happy. I had dinner there on Valentines Day; it was amazing! From the moment we entered, the Hostess greeted us & gave us a really nice table. Right after the server came up, served water & gave us a warm towel for our hands. Moments later, they brought out an amouche bouche, courtesy of the Chef, and it was delicious. They were doing a Tribute to Paul Bocuse & had a great menu to commemorate him. We mostly ordered off of the regular menu and it was out of this world. For starters we had the Tuna Tiradito, Taquitos Patron & the Camp Salad; we could not have made a better selection. For Main Courses, we had the Short Rib, Scallop Risotto, Filet Mignon & Duck in Fig sauce. Everything melted in our mouths. When it came time to dessert, it was definitely worth the wait. They do take about 15 minutes to make, but definitely worth it! They make them at the moment. The Soufflé (just like Paris) and the Chocolate Fondant are amazing. Came here twice for dinner while staying in Condesa for a week. First time I had the scallop risotto, which was just insanely good, so many morels!! Before the course was served I was brought an assortment of bread, with mushroom butter, pickled peppers, and a spicy peanut sauce which I also found to be incredibly unique in flavor and a real treat! The second visit I came back with friends, and we enjoyed some of the same dishes, though my friends found the peanut sauce too spicy for their liking. This time I had the Shrimp Cedron signature dish. It was beautiful and delicious! We also split an order of the mashed potatoes, which were so rich and buttery, and tomatoes with goat cheese, which were less notable. Caveat to this review:we ate there Christmas Day about 7pm and knew that this place, as do many other restaurants open on this day, have a fixed or limited menu. Nothing at all wrong with that. I get it, Christmas is a day most want to be home relaxing with family and friends. I can also accept that these limited menus will be more expensive as I understand (or at least hope) that those willing to give up their holiday are paid extra. No problems with that thinking here. However, with these givens being laid out, I feel as though it is the restaurant's duty to hold up their end of the deal- if you open, and charge more on a holiday, bring your A game, and if you can't deliver it, please just take the day off! We started with a 'gift from the kitchen' chayote squash soup. It was lovely. Next we had to share (as dictated on the menu, two people had to share one appetizer) the crab appetizer. I'm from the US gulf coast and can tell you that from bite one I could tell the crab had a hint of ammonia taste to it which is what you get when it spoils. There were some nice artichoke hearts with it. Then we both had tomato soup-no complaints there. For entrees we got the short ribs and French onion hamburger. The short ribs and pasta they came with were cooked pretty well, but there was enough salt in there to send someone into a flare of congestive heart failure. It was actually impossible to finish it was so salty. The burger was a mess, literally a decent hamburger that seemingly was doused in a (again) salty soupy substance that resembled French onion soup to the point that the act of picking up the bun and it not falling apart was out of the question. Then there was dessert. Ah yes, dessert, which I cleared with the waitress in both English and Spanish was devoid of nuts given my wife's tree nut allergy. She assured me no nuts. Lo and behold, when the items came out the plate and ice cream that accompanied her chocolate cake had been dusted with small bits of almonds. I pointed this out to the waitress, who reassured me these were "just almonds, not nuts", so no worries. I assured her this was a problem and she seemed to get it, took the plate away to change it out. She reappeared with a new dessert after about thirty seconds, and it was obvious all that was done was that the nut bits that could be removed with a finger were removed. Plenty remained however. So needless to say, no dessert was eaten. After all was said and done, two very small (2oz?) chayote squash soups, a borderline bad crab dish, two good tomato soups, a salt lick disguised as short ribs, a mess of a hamburger, one dessert, a cocktail, a tequila, a beer and glass of red wine came to over $4000 Mexican. That is over $200 US. Not good value at all, and the whole nut thing, Christmas or not, was inexcusable. We like to come to Mexico for Christmas and have done so several years now. Next year I think we are just going to have to eat street food as these fixed holiday menus tend to disappoint, and this one was just bad. read more

I'll begin this review by saying that I love food and I love to try new and different restaurants during our travels. With that being said, I just had a dinner that was second to none at CEDRON in the Condessa area of Mexico City. From being to end, the service, drinks and food were flawless! There were six of us dining and each of us feels the same way about this dining experience. We all ordered different entrees but I will only describe what I ordered. To start I decided on having a red sangria. I am picky about sangria and the flavor was perfect. The staff brought out various breads and dips to accompany the bread. Everything was fresh and delicious. Then the chef sent a complimentary, crisp mixed cucumber salad that was a perfect way to prepare the palate for our main courses. For my main entree I chose Osso Bucco de Ternera (veal) with pasta. The only way to describe it was heavenly! Each and every one of us were raving to each other about how wonderful our individual meals were. One of our party was celebrating a birthday. So when the time came for dessert, the staff brought us a lovely herbal tea to help clear the palate and then they brought a perfect lava cake for our Birthday girl. We also tried the Creme Brûlée and it was delightful. Then the staff surprised us further by bringing out a sampler dish of petite confections that just blew us away! I think every restaurant should offer a dessert just like this sampler. It was perfect! We hope that the chef and staff at Cedron keep doing what they are doing because this is food done right! Went here for New Year's Eve. Had the website advertised the ridiculously over priced prix fixe menu, I would have chosen someplace else. It was 2,000 MXN per person (around $100 USD per person). They sat us in a sad, dark, small room on the second floor. At first the waitress rudely rushed us for the order. Then, they took forever to bring the food. They also didn't bring any water until after we asked for it twice, about 25 minutes after being seated. The portions were miniscule and the food was definitely nothing to write home about. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!! If zero stars existed, I'd give them that. read more

What a great place! We ended up here because a nearby restaurant canceled our reservation for a private party. The waiter was very patient and helpful. The food was vegetarian friendly and beautiful. They even gave us water with a strawberry in it. The bread basket and spreads were superb. Portions were generous. I highly recommend the roasted vegetables. They were fabulous. Everything we had was delicious. We also liked the Baja Chardonnay that we got. They have an open kitchen so you can see the chef and his crew working hard. The chef came over to talk to us. I had the wonderful opportunity to dine at this restaurant early this week! I loved it! Every detail was thought out, carefully presented, attentive and just a pleasurable experience. From the moment we were seated we received prompt and refined service. We started with the mushroom and escargot platter which was a fragrant and delicious. The next course was the lamb. The dish looked like a work of art and I couldn't help but take photos of it! Almost too pretty to eat but I'm glad I did as the lamb could be cut with a spoon and is probably some of the best I have ever eaten! My companion opted for the fish of the day and it was presented just as beautifully - also tasted superb! Dessert was soufflé and just looked beautiful!
