My brother-in-law and I had a wonderful time out on the water yesterday morning. Captain Mike and First Mate Tammy were fantastic -- knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout the trip. We didn't end up catching anything ourselves (just a bit of bad luck), though we were over big schools of fish and saw several people nearby land some great catches. I even had one on the line that spit the hook as I was reeling in, nothing you can do about that. Catching or not, it was a gorgeous day cruising past the tip of Cape Cod, spotting seals and other marine life, and enjoying the salt air. The whole experience was relaxed, well-run, and a lot of fun. We'll definitely be back on our next trip to Provincetown -- and hopefully we'll have better luck with the bites next time. read more

Took my 11yr old son on a morning trip with Cee Jay 07/29 and we were one of only two groups not to catch anything. Every other group caught one if not 2 striped bass. Even so, we had a great time. This was in large part due to the first mate, Tammy. Her enthusiasm was as infectious as it was genuine. It was a really crowded boat with lots of kids, so she certainly had her work cut out for her- tangled lines, sea sickness, kids (and a few grown-ups) who needed multiple reminders on the safety rules. She handled it all incredibly well. Funny, fun, kind and empathetic (especially to a sea sick 9yr old), Tammy made what could have been a frustrating trip into a great day out. She even made sure those of us not lucky enough to land a bass at least went home with a fillet. Money well spent and we will definitely book again. read more

After all 3 kids said they wanted to try fishing this year, I looked into a private trip and I couldn't justify the cost since I didn't know if they'd actually participate or even go... Cee-Jay's had a sign up advertising daily trips for about 1/2 of what a private trip would cost. So, I made a reservation. They do not guarantee that fish will be caught. Because it's fishing! If you want a guarantee, go to a grocery store.... That being said, we have minimal fishing experience. So, a bit of instruction on how to actually use the reels would have been helpful. Luckily, a fellow passenger, helped me out with the basics and we easily caught on (pun intended)! Shout-out to Amy! There were about 30 people fishing on our trip and I think about 20 fish were caught. I did catch one but my 3 kids were not so lucky this time. But they all kept trying for most of the trip and even baited their own hooks with fish, no less. And all 3 said they would do something like this again. The mate (or deckhands) job is to help bring the fish in when caught and untangle lines. So help, other than that is minimal. If they added another person, prices would go up. All in all, I'd do this again if it was just me or 1 kid. If you have 4 or more people, it might be worth it to book a private trip if it's in your budget. I'll also add that 2 of my kids did not bring sweatshirts (why would they listen to me?!) and the owner heard us talking and lent them 2 sweatshirts which was very nice! They do clean up the fish for you as well, so bring cash to tip! read more

Had a blast. Came on a Sunday morning for the 4hr ride and was looking exactly for this kind of no-fuss fun head boat fishing. There are no shortage of charter operators but they are way more expensive especially when you're solo or in a very small group. Didn't catch anything, but the captain did his best and the mate was really attentive and focused on making sure we had great lures, bait, and everything we needed. She got me fixed after tangling my line more than once. The boat had everything we needed including a functional, clean bathroom on board. I'm only in town for a weekend but I've been fishing on boats like this for decades. This trip met every expectation I could throw at it. Sure I didn't reel in a keeper this time, but I'd come back any time. I presume prices are higher than usual this season because the boat capacity is capped well under its normal. It's definitely felt worth it to pay the premium this season, my trip felt almost like a private charter for the fraction of the price. Oh and at the end and along the way we saw seals!!! read more

Avoid and use another charter. Told it was too choppy to go around the Cape. Stayed in the bay fishing for blues. Only caught 4 on the boat. The captain did a bunch of driving as we were "chasing a big school of fish" that never showed. Could've used a lesson to show how to fish with the reels for less experienced people on board. I helped many of them to figure it out. Skip this trip. read more

What a great day! We decided to do a last minute fishing trip during our visit to the came and came across Cee Jay's. Due to Covid restrictions we basically had the boat to ourselves. The staff made sure we had a good time and really worked hard to make sure we were following the fish. Well worth the 80 bucks! The only reason I did not give 5-stars is because some of the equipment really needs some maintenance and updating. read more

Three hundred dollars later and NOT. A. SINGLE. FISH. No I am not exaggerating, not a single person on the boat caught a fish. The captain said the stripers tend to be finicky and only go for certain types of bait. Well, then why didn't you provide the right type of bait?? The captain and his first mate, who looked to be about 12, were rather rude the whole outing and the boat was falling apart. The whole experience was horrendous (apart from the weather.) When we arrived to pick up our tickets, my father was told by the old grumpy man in the booth our name wasn't on the list. Since my dad was literally six inches away from the list he went to point out our names. The old man started screaming at my father for touching the list and threatened to prohibit us from going out that day. We should have known then, asked for our money back and left. But we didn't. Because we are stupid. After shelling out all that money we had to stop at the fish market on the way home since we told everyone we were going to have fish tacos for dinner. Do not book with this company. They are rude, unprofessional and unprepared for a fishing trip. read more

There sign states Bass, Mackerel and Blues then you get on the boat and the captain starts by telling us there isn't any Mackerel due to some kind of Tuna in the Bay Area. Then it's to late in the season for Bass. So we were fishing for just Blues if we had known it was just Blues we wouldn't have gone at all as Blues are very oily fish. Disappointed that they weren't upfront in the first place. read more

My son and I had a nice afternoon aboard Cee Jay. Captain and First Mate were both working hard to put us on the fish! Thanks to Nico my son was able to bring in a 10.5 pound bluefish. Most of us didn't catch anything, but enough people were getting fish to make it an interesting trip. I will definitely try fishing with them again. read more

Matt, the first mate was absolutely no help to the customers on board. He slept for pretty much the entire half day trip, only waking up to say "lines up everyone" and "lines down." He missed his cue several times for that too; we just dropped our lines down on our own. He wasn't just sleeping. He was out cold. We asked him multiple questions and he just didn't respond. At first we thought maybe he had a long night and he's just a little tired, but this lasted the entire trip. We believe that this wasn't just because of a lack of sleep, there might be another substance in play. I went on this fishing trip 2 years ago, and Matt was very involved, engaged in conversation throughout the entire day, was up and down the boat untangling lines, giving tips, and working very hard. He is not the same person that we met two years ago. We will not be coming back on this fishing trip. read more

We went on what we thought was a fishing tour to catch all kinds of fish. Im not a fisherman so I dont remember the names of the species but I do remember striped bass was definitely one of them. There are all kinds of fun pictures outside the sales booth of people having fun, and catching enormous fish. Here is what we got: We went on a shitty smelly boat with like 15 people and none of the tourists caught a fish. There was one regular that caught 10 fish while everyone else stood by clueless without any proper instructions. We caught nothing. It was boring, disappointing, and honestly the fast ferry from boston to Ptown is more fun and relaxing than this fishing trip that we couldn't wait to be over. There were also no food or drinks for sale on board so if you are thirsty, too bad. Matt actually admitted to me that its kind of the end of the season and the fish are not really biting now and the tuna came into town and pushed all the striped bass out along with the other fun fish. Why the hell did we go on this trip if there are no fish? Literally! Very disappointed and honestly I think its a scam. read more

My kids bought this for me for Father's Day. Sign said they supply bait rods and reels. Then one on the boat they told me we spent 15 minutes fission for mackerel captains watch must be broken because we spent an hour and a half doing that on a four hour trip. Then when we went out fishing he spent most of the time making us change gear and searching for fish. The first mate has his work cut out for him because the captain kept on backing over and turning the boat around and everybody's gear was getting caught on each other or in the propeller. First mate was great Guy driving the boat was awful Guy driving the boat was awful. I cannot recommend this for a good fishing trip. read more

We went on this boat for fishing. Caught no fish. One guy got a cod that is at least 10 pound. A boy got a flounder that is too small. They have one young guy helping out the customers. He seems nice. There was not a lot of support for first timers like us. read more

We had a good experience. It was a pretty dead fishing day and my 11 and 14 year old started getting tired, caught two gorgeous bluefish in the last half hour. But even through they weren't biting a lot the staff was informative, gave us direction on trying different techniques and were very very vigilant on trying many locations. They also explained that they were casting out while we were jigging and using bait, to lure fish in. They explained everything clear as day and were friendly. The boat was nice. We will be going again. For kids, keep their expectations realistic. Sometimes fish don't bite, but it certainly wasn't from lack of effort from the crew. Eight caught by 28 people today. read more

We had a great trip and all but one of us caught a fish. However a few things really took away from our day. Matt the mate basically ignored us. There were only 13 people on the boat and our group of 6 was almost half of them. He spent most of his time talking with the cute woman who seemed to be a regular. No instruction on how to use the rod and this led to some tangled line early on, since only my father in law and myself have experience. Matt was outwardly annoyed by this but had he bothered to explain anything this could have been avoided. Then we noticed he was giving us small hunks of fish for bait while everyone else on the boat got whole fish to use. Not all of us had caught a fish at this point so that was pretty annoying, especially because we all paid the same price of admission. But the worst part....when he cleaned the fish he did so on a disgusting cooler that he had spent the past 4 hours cutting up hunks of bait on. This cooler was so dirty, covered in blood and fish guts, I could not believe my eyes. So if you catch fish on this boat you may want to clean them yourself. read more

I took my goddaughter for her first fishing experience yesterday. There was one mate, Matt to help 29 people. It was a sunny clear day when we left. Matt gave a brief explanation of how to bait the hook. We caught someone's line for the opposite side of the boat 4 times but no fish. One guy alleged caught a 25 inch fish out of 29 people. We had waves crashing over the boat and all over us on the way to fish and then it became far worse on the return. Coolers were crashing, a fillet knife fell off the shelf, life preservers dropped from the ceiling and a cooler full of water flipped over. Quite a first fishing experience for my goddaughter. I had to hold on for dear life. I asked Matt if we could get a refund and he said good luck. Our sneakers are still soaked today. Bring a wet suit if you decide to go. read more

Although we didn't catch any fish, the captain was excellent as was the first mate. He took us to about 10 to 15 different spots to fish for flounder, Blues, and fluke. It was just one of those days that the fish arnt biting. The 5 stars is for the effort the captain gave us trying to get the best spot and giving us excellent pointers on the methods of catching the different fish. This is a real bait fishing boat so everyone baits there own hooks . However if you are squeamish e first mate will bait for you. They offer drinks and snacks for $2 and there is a bathroom on board. Its great for kids ( I had my 4 year old with me today) and a nice way to spend 4 hours of your day. read more

Two days ago we went on an afternoon fishing trip on the Cee Jay. It was a beautiful day and jigged for blue fish right off of Long point. Fish were hitting on lures and soon several blues and a couple smaller 25" (release) strippers were caught too. Since the fish were hitting on spinning reels the captain and mate asked if everyone had a chance to land one. I thought this was great as we had a few small kids on board and landing a blue is hard. Yes, everyone had a chance to land a fish. We then went on to Woods end light. Not much happening there and then proceeded to Race point and around the backside. 6 or more humpbacks were sighted and we diverted to see whales, sea birds and do some fishing. The sky looked dramatic as thundertorms were well north but what a view. What else can you ask for? For $55 we fished, went through the Race, saw whales and then took some fish home all while having fun. The mate Matt was great, he had them filleted and ready for the taking. Great work Cee Jay. I like to fish, most of the time i catch and release. But I still want to feel the line pulling. I paid for 5 of us, got a speach on the way out how what to do and not to do, I m ok with old stuff if it works. Here is some tips, buy new hooks, bring on some descent bait, and most of all get a working fish finder. When you have almost 30 people fishing more than 2 flounders should be caught. My goup didn t catch a fish, and we fish all the time. The first mate seemed like a good guy, but he had nothting to do. The captain, showed us nothing. No emotion, didnt even care no one caught anything. Goin out of Provincetown, is what they got goin for them. Nice area to look at. But but if you want to catch fish, they need some updated equipment. If you want the view have fun. read more
