We had a fantastic morning on the Cape starting strong with a really cool tour on the dunes through Art's. We've always seen the big Chevy Suburbans near commercial street with partially deflated tires and wondered about the tours but never pulled the trigger, so glad we did! Our tour guide was awesome full of knowledge and facts about Provincetown, the dunes, the beach shacks on the dunes, and the flora & fauna of the landscape. He fearlessly drove us up hills of sand and took cool pictures of our group of 5 at pretty picturesque points. I'd highly recommend it was well worth the time and money. read more

The Bronco tour with Chris the guide was amazing. She was so knowledgable. She also lowered the pressure in the tires during the tour for good traction. The bronco was really cool, perfect for the three of us. The views of the Dunes were something we will always remember. It was the highlight of our Cape Cod trip. Next year we'll try the sunset tour. The gift shop area had wine from the Truro Vineyards in nice keepsake bottles. If you buy four like I did you get an insulated bag for free great gifts for friends. Highly recommend the tour, the vehicle and the employees - it doesn't get better than Art's Dune Tours. We paid $30 for all day parking right down the block bc someone in our party couldn't walk far. The lot was close so I didn't mind paying. Don't forget to tip your guide. read more

My family of 5 visited Provincetown recently and booked a sunset dune tour. The owner, Rob, was our driver. He was very sweet, funny and engaging. we learned about his family history and how the dune tours started, the history of how the dunes came to be, and even about some of the famous people who stayed in the dune shacks. He had books and photographs to show us as he drove us through the most amazing landscape. He was a wealth of knowledge, and very personable. I tend to get a little nervous with off road activities and water, but I felt very comfortable, his skill level of driving in that terrain and his knowledge of the tides, etc made me feel very safe. It was a very chilly night so he took us on a slightly longer ride to the lighthouse so we would end up having a little less time to sit in the freezing cold for the sunset. He even took photos for us. our teenagers enjoyed this tour, and our guide. The sunset was amazing, Rob had chairs for us to use. This is a must do activity if you're visiting, we have already recommended it to several people. read more

He made the hour-long day tour not just informative but also a lot of fun. Todd's warm personality and great company made the experience worthwhile. One great perk is that you can buy liquor at the storefront and bring it along on the tour. There's a short 10-minute stop where you can take in some stunning views of the dunes, snap lots of photos, and enjoy your drink (quickly--the ten minutes fly by!). Our family travels to the Cape at least once a year & all agree that checking out PTown & its surrounds is a must. This year we splurged for the 2nd time (within 8 years) on Art's Dune Tours & loved our upgraded 2nd trip much better than the first. With this upgraded ''supper included" trip customers may choose from different meal packages & then at the end of the tour get to enjoy the beach at sunset. Selections can be as pared down as a sandwich or uplifted to a 1st class experience of having a lobster bake on the beach with a campfire. Of course price rises with the level of experience you choose. But whatever package you choose, this finale at the beach is the tour's pièce de résistance. 4 wheel drive capability to get out to this end of the Cape is advised & the national seashore requires permits to camp or drive on the beach to limit human traffic. The tour vehicle has on board comfortable directors chairs for your use once arriving at the beach & the driver sets them up before supper is served. If your group is lucky you may have the good fortune to get a visit from a curious seal as we did. Vehicle was a big Chevy Suburban that accommodated our group of 5 comfortably. Our driver, a PTown resident for many decades, was informative & engaging. Tour drivers provide both historical & regional flora & fauna insight during the drive which we found to be very enlightening. We spent the weekend on the lower Cape staying in Truro and ate in two nice restaurants but the high light of the weekend was THE DUNE tour!! Arts Dune Tours is a must do when in Provincetown ! I've been taking these tours over the years and I always appreciate them whether alone, with my sons, or with friends. A very helpful, courteous, warm, and helpful team shares the views of the dunes, their stories and history. Sometimes the tour guide was a little hard to hear from the back seats. The views are amazing, the sunset tours have always ended spectacularly. I should have asked if they had a copy of the book, the mayflower?, which was referenced by our tour guide. Kristen is funny as hell and shared some really interesting information about the history of the area. The weather was perfect and we experienced a fabulous sunset on the beach. Other Dune Tours include a clam bake/bonfire or they have the one hour tours if you have less time available. So glad we finally did this. read more

This was a really fun and informative tour! Our driver/guide, Luca, was knowledgeable, funny and friendly. The vehicle was very clean and comfortable, even in the way back. In addition to seeing the dunes, there are beautiful wildflowers, the artist's shacks, and we learned about some of the birds in the area and what is being done to protect them. Our only hesitation was being put in a group with a family that included two very small children and their great grandmother. It was a little hard to hear Luca at times while the kids fussed and climbed through their row of the car, but overall it was better than we expected, though this trip didn't seem appropriate for the young kids. I think 6+ is probably a better age, for everyone involved. read more

We did Art's Dune tour back at the end of the '90s and were eagerly awaiting for our kids to get old enough to take them. The other night we did the sunset tour and it was awesome. Our 14 and 17 year olds enjoyed it as well and I proved to them that it would be a lot of fun. Driving through the dunes is great experience. Our guide Artie did an excellent job in telling us all about the ecology of the area, the trajectory and history of the dunes, all about the shacks and who stays in them, etc just to name a few of the things he told us about. The whole trip was very informative and fun. Artie took a lot of time sharing his knowledge of Provincetown history and the areas around the cape. We really enjoyed our time with him. The sunset on the beach was beautiful. We will definitely be booking again in the future! read more

We had a wonderful time on our dune tour, in July 2019. Our guide, Steven, was funny and relatable. He gave a great tour and had all the facts memorized perfectly. You are on the sand nearly the entire time. There are some bumps and it is a fun time to ride in the car, borderline roller coaster (but don't worry, if you don't like roller coasters you will still like this, it's not at all severe). Overall we had a great time with Steven and I would definitely recommend to anyone in search of a good time. read more

My husband and I had a marvelous time learning about the dunes with our wonderful tour guide Jamison! He was knowledgeable, witty and down to earth! Also the tour began with us seeing a couple of lesbian Karen's complaining that there were no wild horses on any of the dunes. The staff dealt with these women so professionally that it made us feel at ease. I mean anyone that can treat a couple of idiots who think wild horses run free at the Cape like in some trashy drug store romance novel with Fabio on the cover, is going to give us an amazing tour! read more

With the staff providing us personalized attention from start to finish, we enjoyed an excellent one hour tour of the dunes in a way that no one else can experience due to the unique protection status the seashore has. While it's not a dune buggy style experience, the SUV style experience was better than expected. Our guide George was very knowledgeable and shared his experience with the shacks that gave it a more intimate narrative which I enjoyed learning about. He also mentioned the Rose cup which we ended up seeking out at the public library. That was a pleasant surprise and added extra value to the tour experience. Rob also took the time to talk with us and provide a few recommendations to make the experience more memorable. As a result we enjoyed an excellent lobster roll with a view at Pepe's. Every time I visit PTown, I'd heard great things about Art's Dune Tours and my husband & I finally made reservations to go on the sunset tour. As we had reserved the day of, we were told that we'd have to sit in the back of the truck and they asked if we'd still like to reserve. I appreciated that they were honest up front instead of us arriving and finding out we had to squeeze in the back. Not that the back seat is the worst place to be, we just could only hear about every other word the tour guide was saying but the views were so beautiful we didn't mind. I had visited the dunes at the National Seashore in the past(by foot), however, I'd never had the opportunity to see them like this and really enjoyed riding through the sand dunes--at times it was a little scary going down the dunes in the truck, but it all added to the overall experience. As we did the sunset tour, they told us we could bring a bottle of wine/beer, snacks etc to enjoy while watching the sunset. Once we arrived to the area where we would settle down to watch the sunset, I was impressed that the truck contained more than enough beach chairs for everyone along with a blanket to lay out to lounge on to watch the sunset. I'm not going to lie, the area they take you to is spectacular for watching the sunset-- one of the best sunsets I've ever been able to view. While sitting lounging in our chairs, we were also able to enjoy large groups of seals swimming past along with a whale sighting. All-in-all, an amazing experience that I would do again and again. read more

Suzanne makes the fifth star for Art's! The tour seems pricey at first until you factor in all the hard driving they have to do, and the small number of people that they carry. It's an almost private tour of an amazing portion of Provincetown that most don't see, mostly because they didn't know it was out here! This was a beautiful tour. I was a little hesitant b/c I thought it would be a stump jumping wild race over the dunes. But the tour guide said they deflate the tires so they can drive over the dunes. Its a nice easy ride and it is spectacular. We took the day tour and it was very pretty. The only thing I did not like was that our tour guide had a big sign in the suburban that said, WE TAKE TIPS! with a big money cup taped to the dash. The tour was a little pricey so I'm not sure why these guides have to beg for tips. It would have been nicer if the guide would let the folks with the window seats switch with the folks without. She said you have to ask the customers if they mind switching. You pay a lot for this tour, you want to take photos as you drive in, so it seems only logical to let everyone have a chance at a nice photo. They are not assigned seats, its just a suburban. The guide did stop in one location half way through the tour to let everyone get out and take pictures. I did ask the other ppl if they would switch seats but it was awkward...The company really needs to change this b/c everyone pays the same price. :) read more
