After going to four other bridal shops in the last two weeks, I was more than ready to find my dress. I spoke with Jennifer on Wednesday and she was more than accommodating to make sure I was able to come in during a small window of time. I explained what I was looking for over the phone and my budget. I was going to be shopping by myself which made me a little nervous. When I arrived on Friday, Jennifer had already pulled multiple dresses for me in my price range and size. I tried on three dresses and honestly liked every single one. I ended up falling in love with the third dress and buying it. I was in and out within 45 minutes and made to feel comfortable the entire time. The price was unbeatable!!!!!! Jennifer was great with helping me estimate alterations and gave me honest advice that I trusted. I never felt pressured to buy a dress or pushed towards more expensive dresses. They had so many options and the shop was honestly a breath of fresh air after the experiences I had in the city. Highly recommend!!!

My friend isn't even considered a plus sized person, let alone would anyone who knows her call her a bigger person. This was supposed to be a happy experience in preparation for the biggest day of her life that she has been talking about for as long as I've known her and she had her soul crushed by the rude comments of someone who couldn't even bother to get to know her by reading her worksheet or take the time to actually LISTEN to what her wants/needs are. She brought several dresses that had every thing my friend specifically stated she wanted to avoid and at one point told her that she had a dress that would match what she was looking for that wouldn't fit my friend BUT she could show her pictures of McKenzie wearing it if she wanted to. For a bridal store that has: "Our motto at Hope's is "Every Body. Every Bride." No matter your size, you deserve to look and feel your absolute best on your big day. We want your wedding dress shopping experience to be warm, comfortable, and joyful. And we want you to strut down that aisle on the big day with confidence because you ARE beautiful!" on their website, it is a wild thing to have someone working there that body shames anyone bigger than her and ruining what's supposed to be a once in a life time experience for a young bride along with crushing her self esteem and making her feel anything less than when all she wanted to do was try on dresses, feel beautiful and find THE dress for her big day.

While I was visiting, we decided to check out Celebration so she could get ideas for her wedding gown. They were going out of business :( Still, we looked around, not expecting to actually buy anything. The staff was busy, but they still made it a point to greet us. We looked from dress to dress, comparing styles. And then she found IT, THE DRESS. We asked if she could try it on, which she did, and the clerk offered to get tissues when my friend started crying! She also helped adjust the heavy dress in a warm but professional manner. My friend bought the dress, 60% off, and everyone there was so happy for her!

My original sales person was so attentive and seemed to really care about helping me find the dress of my dreams, she really made my experience memorable. When I went back in to look at bridesmaids dresses I worked with someone else and she was just as great as the lady that helped me pick out my wedding dress. The girls that work there really know their stuff, they were able to find out what I was looking for and what my vision was and then they were able to pull gowns that I never would have looked twice at and I ended up loving it, it really goes to show that you really can't judge a book by its cover. I felt like they genuinely wanted to help me find the right dress weather it was bridesmaids or my bridal gown they didn't care weather it was a $1500 dress or a $150 dress they just wanted it to be THE one and after shopping at every bridal store in the area this by far was the best experience I have had. My dress came in with no problems and the alterations lady was great she got everything I wanted done quickly, they were extremely busy when I was there for my alterations but they handled it very well and i enjoyed visiting the store every time I went in there, it was such a happy and fun environment. So if you want a shopping experience that is essentially stress free and with people helping you that actually want you to wear the gown that is right for you rather than just trying to make a sale then this is where you need to get your gown. I made some of the biggest memories that I will hold onto forever with my mom and family while I was shopping for my wedding gown and thankfully it was a wonderful experience and stress free.

I received a sealed envelope at a bridal show from Mahin's saying if I scheduled an appointment and…read moreselected my dress from there I could receive a "prize" up to a certain amount. I scheduled my appointment which they were nice about - they have good store hours. I explained what I wanted and my price range. They didn't have the type of dress I was looking for - tea length, strapless, corset back - but I picked out some dresses from the stuffy old rooms to try on. After trying them on Mahin said "I have just the dress for you." She brought in a dress that was very pretty, and a little more than DOUBLE my price range. I tried it on anyways, which I shouldn't have. It was an amazing dress and we sucked it up and bought it. My "prize" was a veil up to $200. I explained I didn't want a veil but rather a birdcage, which they have, and she said the "prize" didn't cover that I would have to get a veil or nothing. They added that if my bridesmaids bought their dresses from them they would receive a discount so we scheduled an appointment. When we came for that appointment she seemed annoyed by us, maybe she was having a bad day. I had one girl who was too little for the dress we ended up choosing so they gave us a book to look through for junior brides and flower girls. We didn't find anything we liked and said we'd look elsewhere for that last dress. Fast forward several weeks and I receive a call saying my dress was in. She said she noticed that I had 5 bridesmaids but that we had only ordered 4 dresses and she hadn't ordered them yet because she was waiting on the 5th one to decide on a dress. I explained that we had decided the day we were there not to order the 5th dress from her and she was quite rude saying that I never told her that and now the dresses may not arrive on time. I asked her to order the dresses and she did. When I came to try my dress on I immediately noticed an awful smell when entering the fitting room. It smelled like fish, bad! When putting the dress over my head it was clear the smell was coming from the dress. I was too excited to see the dress I didn't mention it. Then the dress didn't fit - it was too small. Mahin didn't seem to think anything of it and said when they had it altered they would move the modesty panel and it would be fine. While standing in what seemed to be a room with the temperature set to 120 degrees having her pin my hem she was again quite rude. She actually got quite loud with me when she insisted that I had moved and she would have to redo part of the pinning. My mother had to stand with me holding my arms so I didn't pass out due to the temperature so if I moved, I didn't mean to. $500+ later after alterations to hem it a few inches and put in the bustle I came back to try the dress on again. The fishy stench remained, the bustle clips were horrible, the hem was still too long, and it STILL DIDN'T FIT! Again, she didn't think anything of it and said that if I wear a girdle that should take care of it. I finally mentioned the smell, after everyone I had there with me said "yes, it's awful" and she didn't notice it. She said "maybe after we steam it it'll be better." The girls dresses came in and we decided NOT to use her alteration services so we just picked them up and left. The dresses were as expected and were all a little big, but that's better than small. I decided to pick my dress up several weeks before the wedding to see if we could do something about the smell. I "googled" it and apparently dresses that are shipped from over seas are sprayed with pesticides so that could have been the reason. We left it hang out and it got better, but never totally went away. I took my dress with to a different seamstress when the girls had their alterations done to ask for a different modesty panel to help my dress fit better and the wonderful woman explained that my dress was not anywhere near the right size. So, another $300+ later she put in panels on the side of the dress to get it to fit the best it could. This was all AFTER I had lost 15 lbs since I had been fitted in the first place. In the end, my $600 dress budget ended up costing me over $2000 and I smelled like fish on my wedding day.

After being measured once, I came back and it was like the dress was custom made for me. On top of that, Mahin clearly loves what she does. She made me feel so comfortable and welcome, and even let me bring my grandparents who can't make it to my wedding. I think she was as excited as I was when I found the perfect dress. The outside of the building doesn't look like much, but don't let the appearance fool you. There's a huge selection inside, with lots of different styles. Highly recommended!
