I rent venues for events several times per year and can tell you that this is NOT a place you want…read moreto rent for ANY event... ever. The person in charge, Mr. Fung, is possibly the most unprofessional person I have ever encountered being in charge of a venue. He is clearly not a hospitality professional, nor any type of professional to be frank. He will not honor his contract nor his word. He is rude, tactless and downright mean spirited. Fung did everything in his power to make our private school prom a disaster by locking rooms on us while in use to threatening to unplug the dj and yelling at our parent volunteers. He was late to open one of the venue area doors for us and then demanded that we remove everything that took hours to set up. He even had the gall to help himself to our catered food WHILE the party was in full effect. The venue is housed in a church. Frankly, church management should replace this disaster of a coordinator before he ruins another event.

Informed us at that time that we could only use part of the building. Locked the front door of the venue forcing us to use a side entrance in the middle of the event. Had a secondary event scheduled on the same space, even though we had rented the whole building. He decided to hang out inside the dance hall, and eat from our catered food while our event was in process, yelled at our leadership and volunteers, and forced the dj to unplug before our event was over. The leasing agent and caterer was a different person, but is obvious that the building manager doesn't even try to work with their own leasing agent. Stay away! It is not worth it!

The biggest drawback was the experience with the workers. Anytime we had to interact with them whether it be the giftshop, the front desk to pay, or to ask a question it felt like the biggest imposition. At one point we asked for the America 250 stamp for our babies book, the girl never said a word, just rolled her eyes scoffed and then turned around grabbed the stamp, stamped the book and then looked forward. Not a word was spoken. It was so awkward. Come for the museum and the value, but don't interact with the young staff working there or you'll be left disappointed. Might be worth replacing with an AI customer service rep, that's been working great with fast food.

The parking lot is huge and I was pleasantly surprised that the parking offered natural trails, a playground, and a pollination garden! The inside of the museum is full of history with some impressive displays. My sons were really impressed with the videos, and the walk-in models made for an unforgettable experience. The staff was friendly, you can't beat the price! They have a cafe and gift shop. If you're a history buff or your looking for something unique in Hampton Roads just check them out!

Country Inn and Suites…read more EXERCISE ALL PRECAUTIONS WITH THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!!! If you have any respiratory issues, take extreme precautions if you are considering staying here. The facade of manicured groundskeeping does give the impression of a decent place to stay. However, once inside, there's a truth of why I was compelled to not stay there. I booked the stay through Expedia. My reservation was scheduled for 7/23 - 7/26. None of the pictures in the app show the reality of what the rest of the hotel looks like. I arrived at the hotel 7/23 to check in. Upon the entrance of the lobby, there was a reception desk to the far left where they are stationed. Behind the desk, there is a wall on the left that has a noticeable water stain around it at the time I was checking in. The check-in process seemed okay. The manager Tracy checked me in, handed me the keys, and advised me how to access the side door number 2 to bring in my luggage. I get a porter to gather my luggage and walk through the hotel's first floor to the side door. The corridor to the side door is to the left of the lobby desk where I checked in. Once in that short corridor, you take a left to go through the hallway to get to the side door 2. Along the way, water stains on the ceiling are prevalent with irregular patches of smooth plastering and popcorn ceiling right to the door. Both finishes were stained. There was a sprinkler that had a square hole about four inches on each side cut out in the ceiling. My skin was crawling. With the help of my cousin, I get my luggage loaded on the porter, I go back inside to go up to my room on the third floor by the elevator. Upon exiting the elevator, there's a faint musty smell in the hallway. For the segment of the hallway where my room was located there are prevalent water stains on the third floor ceiling that ran from the elevator and extended beyond my room. As soon as I opened the door my room, the musty smell in the hallway was concentrated in my assigned room. It was rank of dampness and humidity. The smell stopped me at the door. I looked back at my cousin who said, "Ain't no way." I struggled to step further into the room but did go in. The back of my throat was gagging because the smell was so repulsive. There was a sofa in the room that looked like it was picked up off the side of the road, post rain storm as it has noticeable water stains on it as well as can be seen in the pictures. I sit down on a chair that is not upholstered to call Expedia. I told them that it was not possible to sleep in that room and that I had strong concerns for my health with the condition of the hotel. I was told that the matter would be escalated and to expect to hear something by the following Monday. I had not unloaded a single thing, make my way out of the room but not before taking more pictures of the hallways. I went back to the front desk where the manager, Tracy, that checked me in was no longer there. A Lala was there and took the keys back that was witnessed by my cousin. I requested that the manager be contacted to reach out to me. Never happened. I find accommodations elsewhere. Having been told the manager would be back Saturday, 7/25, I reach back out to the hotel. She was not there. Spoke at length with another front desk clerk that went on with excuses for the condition of the hotel. I requested the manager be contacted to reach out to me. Never happened. Monday, I reach back out to Expedia about the status of the escalation to get a refund to which I was told there was none. This agent does follow through with filing an escalation on which I did receive an email on 7/29 confirming an escalation was being reviewed for resolution. I do take it upon myself to contact the hotel and finally reach Tracy, 7/31. She told me that she'd never gotten any communications from Expedia whatsoever. I circle back to Expedia 7/30 about the escalation. I tell them of Tracy saying that she never received any communication from Expedia. Expedia calls the hotel, speaks with Tracy, and Tracy declines to give a refund for a stay that never happened. I reached out to Tracy to get the correct spelling of her name to include in these glowing reviews of the quality of service, integrity, and condition of the hotel of which she was made aware. Her tone was an arrogant apathy as she has my money. She not once apologized nor offered ANY compensation of an adjustment much less a refund. Please, use discernment when selecting a hotel through Expedia and the Country Inn and Suites located at 1917 Coliseum Drive, Hampton, VA 23666.
