Do not visit this restaurant. Overall, the experience was exhausting. We were greeted kindly and…read morewere told that we arrived at the perfect time because there was a jazz festival happening and that we beat the expected crowd from that event. This appeared to be great news. There was only one family of 3 sitting and a few folks by the bar for pickup orders, so we were hopeful that this would be a speedy experience as we were all hungry! We placed our order (party of 12) and waited 90 minutes to begin receiving our orders. Then over the following 45 minutes, each order was slowly brought out one by one. leaving the two kids meals for last - one of which was the wrong order. Typically, restaurants bring the kids meals out first as they are simple and usually the least patient customers (chicken tenders & french fries). After inquiring with the waitress for timing updates, a man came out from the kitchen to address my concerns. He was not apologetic and did not come out in good faith. He almost seemed a little annoyed that we were complaining. He stated that they can't fry the fish and chicken/french fries in the same oil. This leads me to believe that there is only one fryer. He also said that fried chicken takes an hour to cook. I am not a restaurant owner, but I can fry chicken at home for my family in less than an hour. A few of our orders were incorrect but we suffered through because we could not stand to wait another hour for a piece of fried chicken. From the various dishes ordered, none of them were anything to enjoy. The fried chicken was bland, absolutely no seasoning or flavor. The chicken & waffles (priced at $18) was 2 soggy eggo waffles and what appeared to be deep battered low-quality chicken (similar to chinese food sweet & sour chicken without the sauce). The mac n cheese was not good at all, no flavor, wrong texture, very dry. The garlic mashed potatoes tasted like boxed mashed potatoes. Others had the smothered pork chop which also was flavorless. The bathroom was disgusting, unclean and was not maintained. The restaurant floors were a little slippery, your shoe slid a little when walking. Ultimately this restaurant got our time and money once but will never get it again.

This was NOT my 1st time experiencing this phenomenal business, and I will shout from the mountain tops for all who will listen. Tonight was #Datenight. My wife, another power couple (family, not blood related), and myself. Since the 1st time we introduced them to this place, they've been #hooked. Upon entering, we were greeted by the hostess. We noticed Brie (one of the owners) and we had a conversation (expressing our fondness of the business. We waited about 5 minutes and was escorted to our seats by Brie. We were seated in VIP (Reserved) section Thursday nights are reserved for Karaoke and its was phenomenal, to say the least!! There were some real "singers" in there--not professional, but singers nonetheless. Make sure to come between 6-9 to enjoy their "Happy hour" specials. Drinks came fast. Appetizers came faster. And the food was not far behind. My wife ordered "Keishia Wings (Parmesean Garlic) and fries basket. My sister ordered some kind of dip, and my brother ordered wings. The main course. I ordered "Bad Gyrl Lamb Chops" with Rice & Gravy and Cabbage. My wife ordered the "Veggie Platter" with Collards, Sweet potatoes, Broccoli and Cabbage. My sister ordered The "Sausage, Rice and Onions" platter and my brother ordered the Turkey Wings (Fried then gravy added (no onions), Mac and Cheese and Cabbage. When I say we cleaned our plates, that's an understatement. If you're in the area, visiting the area, or just looking for something outside of the normal, this is it!!! You don't even have to take my word for it. Try it yourself and see --- You will NOT be disappointed! We will be back time after time and hope to meet/see you there! Enjoy the rest of your day

The party was for about 50 people most over 30 years old. I love the spacious dance floor and the sound system. They played a great mixture of music that coveted all the age groups, including the must have lube dancing music. The DJ made sure we enjoyed ourselves and led a toast fir out birthday girl. The owner welcomed us, and the entire staff was very friendly. The food was good, most people in our party had wings. The adult beverages were yummy and substantial, so everyone was happy. The seating is comfortable, and the venue decor was thoughtfully done. The food service was good and the owner checked on our party several times during our event.. Hubby and I are going back next weekend to dance and dine. Enjoyable location for 30 plus crowd.

BRING YOUR WALLETS AND STRETCHY PANTS!…read more We went as a corporate outing group of 5. The front door is a little tight cause as a popular spot there's a bunch of foot traffic. The lady at the front door was a bit staticky but she got us sat fairly quickly so we could deal with that. Vibes are all wooden, but not creaky. Could be a cool date spot, it was very casual so we were able to be a bit boisterous. Good place to chat and blend in. Service was great and friendly and attentive. The waitress we had always made sure our cups were full and we had napkins and what we needed. We didn't get any alcohol, I got an Arnold Palmer, the wife got a midtown. They were both pretty good, I don't know what the difference was but they slapped. Free refills on sweet tea was dope too! The food came out pretty fast for the portions and quality. The wings are a must get, get the large and if you don't finish air fry them back home (reheat is good) (I would get sauce on the side, we did buffalo). We got like a desert style cornbread with syrup and powdered sugar, not normally my jams but totally delicious (my coworker ordered, I am not into sweets; still 10/10). I had 2 buffalo shrimp and they were also good, I didn't get a flick but that's a safe pick. The mains are pricey (typical soul food prices) but fire!!! Portions were good but the quality of goods and meat are awesome. I eat at a lot of places, the quality was really high here so I think the price tag was fair. My wife got the catfish, I got the stuffed salmon. For our sides we got the greens, cabbage, and the Mac & cheese. I had a couple of things I personally like that I feel would have enhanced the meal but the overall outlook is that this is the place to go. The greens were salty as heck and didn't have like a turkey neck or smoked anything in it, could be a regional preference but that was missing for me. The cabbage was also cooked really well and didn't require much but had no sparkle. Great texture but the flavor wasn't there, I'm also Caribbean so maybe what I like is different, the crunch with a kick would have gone far and maybe some salt from the greens in there. The Mac and cheese was good, I like a creamier one but this will suffice tbh. Overall I'm going to give them a 8.9/10. I could have gotten the wrong things or went on an off day but they certainly delivered and the service was GREAT. I would deff revisit, it's got a lot of charm and personality. The staff were amicable and the bathrooms were clean. I would recommend this spot if you're visiting Richmond!

You absolutely get why. Getting in is the trick. There is no waiting area. The bar is small and fully stocked. It took my family about 45 minutes to be seated. The dining room, wood and walls covered in beautiful paintings of black artwork filled with families celebrating and enjoying huge plates of southern cuisine. Our server, LENA was very helpful and friendly. She made sure we knew what was what. She was Awesome. Okay now this FOOD! So much food and everything hot and fresh. You'll be tempted to order an appetizer. I observed the portions and decided I couldn't eat all that... in a week. Definitely getting the fried oysters next time though. The "Fish Boat" comes with 2, 3 or 4 pieces of whiting. It's fried and the onion and pepper "sauce" is a mustardy, vinegar concoction that compliments the fish perfectly. You have your choice of two sides. Typical southern specialties. Collard greens (no pork added) were delicious, with a little kick; Candied Yams and a BRICK OF CORNBREAD. Light, soft sweet cornbread... my goodness. I don't think I can do this food the proper justice it deserves in this review. The chicken strips; the Alfredo were just as good. Even their version of an Arnold Palmer, (The Uptown) was done right. It's worth the drive and definitely worth the calories. If you love southern food, seafood with an ample serving of back in the day hospitality, (it's on the PLATE) stop by and come hungry. My family said it tasted like Thanksgiving. Family cooking seasoned with love. That's exactly right. Oh! GET THE CAKE... for later
