I kinda understand why, but then again, if you're gonna have a business like this) I kinda don't. Ribs and jalapeños smoked sausage were not available. I was told that for ribs, you should contact them 24 hours in advance. This was a deal-breaker almost, 'cause we really wanted to do the ribs, and there was no indication that some items might not be available. The food and appetizers came out at the same time, so our table was loaded, and we could not eat fast enough before it got cold. I shared my displeasure with my server, but she just gave me the "deer in the headlights." look. The drinks were weak and expensive. There are a few arcade games and plenty of space. One thing I really dislike about any bbq spot is bathing my food in sauce, the first thing that comes to mind is either your food lacks flavor or it's dry. The flavor was okay, nothing to rave about I think the pulled pork had the most flavor out of all three (seasoning and smoke). Half of the brisket I received was nothing but fat the other 1/4 was burned and at $32 a platter I'd expect to get better portions. On top of that the cold sides are plated with hot food. I was famished and googled barbecue places near Williamsburg and this place surfaced. The food in the pictures looked scrumptious. The restaurant is located at the end of the Food Lion strip mall. Upon arrival, I was not greeted, the young man seemed a bit overwhelmed. I wanted the wings but they were out so I tried the brisket, beans, and macaroni and cheese. The brisket was a healthy portion but lacked flavor and was a little tough. Barbecue sauce was placed on the brisket to go with the flavor. The macaroni and cheese was really bland, it tasted like macaroni with wine cheese sprinkled on it. The beans tasted just like root beer. So long that the store closed and I watched as the workers cleaned up. I left with no food, no refund, no gift card, nothing to compensate my money spent, and more importantly my time wasted. Oh my gosh, the barbecue here is to literally die for. I came here on a date on Valentine's Fay and the service was amazing. The waitress checked on us constantly and refilled our water constantly. I ordered the sausage platter and IT WAS SO GOOD! I got the pulled pork to go with the potatoes salad for my mom and the potatoes salad was BOMB! I need to come back here to get the entire menu. Although still the best brisket around, service and side items have not been up to the standards I have experienced for the 6 years I have been coming. Could have been an off night. Service was very slow. Brisket dinner supposed to come with yeast roll, didn't. Mac and cheese wasn't as creamy as usual. Rootbeer baked Beans was lacking the root beer flavor. It was advertised as sour cream and onion but we didn't get those flavors. The meats were good. The Mac n cheese was very good but the shredded cheese on top was unnecessary and should have been breadcrumbs. Also I wish there was cornbread on the menu. So on the peninsula is there any barbecue place the is better? No. No there isn't. Full disclosure I am a barbecue snob, I grew up in the Midwest with lost of great barbecue and have made and eaten lots of great barbecue. It's not a fair review to compare barbecue places in this area with places in my memories. So I have to change my review. The addition of the stars is based on the following. 1. There is nothing they did wrong and everything they did they is well seasoned and presented in a clean nice place with nice people working. 2. My wife and I have been back here multiple times and have not gone to any other barbecue place in the area. 3. The menu always seems to have items that both sound interesting, taste delicious, and aren't found on other barbecue menus. 4. I dropped in late one Saturday night for dinner. Ordered the 2 entree platter. I had bbq chicken, bbq brisket, green beans and bbq baked beans. The meal came with a roll, and a little side of Cole slaw. I make it my business to get the brisket at every bbq joint that I visit. Their brisket was very tender. But I couldn't get the real taste of the meat because it was covered in bbq sauce. I'm actually used to saucing my own meat from a variety of bbq sauce flavors on the table like you get from mission bbq and county grill. The same went for the chicken. Now the entree descriptions had bbq in it, so I can't be mad about it. However, it would have been better to have had the option to select from a variety of sauces or to at least have a sauce on the table. The green beans had sweet, heat and bacon in the name. They were bland. I ate them and was wanting more for my toast buds. The root beer baked beans were okay. They were sweet and that was it. The baked beans had no onion, no green pepper, no jalapeño, no bacon, no beef, just beans and a sauce. All of this is fine, but the overall flavor profile for the beans was one dimensional. They don't cheat you on the portions, i received a healthy bowl of green beans and bbq baked beans. The chicken was good. Again, I wish I had asked for my sauce on the side. I was able to taste the flavor in the chicken despite the presence of the sauce. Alpha Pitt does a pretty good job with their meats. I'll definitely come back to sample their other protein options. I ordered the buffalo chicken wings with blue cheese dressing and cheese curds with ranch dressing. I did not expect the wings to look like this! There was barely any sauce on it and the wings were salty. When the cheese curds arrived, the outside was still crispy, but the cheese hardened on the way home so I had to microwave it to make the cheese gooey again.
